Axis Powers Hetalia The awesome manga has just become an awesome anime!Imagine all of the countries of the world in bishounen-character form. Large scale battles turn into petty fights over territory and cash. Throw in some pranks, a whole lot of stereotypes, and some boy love, and you've got Hetalia!! This is my current obsession heart The anime is a little looser than I'd like it. The episodes are only five minutes each, and the plot jumps around. They should have made it a little more serious...it could have turned out really well, especially when the manga did such a good job with events like the American Revolution and The Bloody Sunday Revolt of 1905.

I like the 5 minute episodes since I rarely have enough time to watch anime. And I think that it will loose some of its cuteness if it starts to become seriously entrenched in history. It's an adorable way to be introduced to different events in history without being boring. My favorite character is China with his snacks and panda.

It is cute, and I wouldn't want it to be too serious. I just think that the occasional serious event would be a nice way to offset the cuteness 3nodding
I have way too many favorite characters xd I do like China though, aru!

Some friends of mine recently got me watching this series. I'm especially fond of all the historical symbolism (and political snarkiness). Their favorite element is the yaoi suggestiveness, which I think I'm still ambivilant about (no complaints about yaoi in general; Hetalia's special brand of it is still kind of making me tilt my head in some kind of "ORLY?" way...).
The only thing I outright dislike is the ending. It gives me one of those "too much sugar" headaches, and reminds me of my hematologist's office. (No offense to Italy)
I have to say I'm a fan of Taiwan for no obvious reason. And Switzerland makes me smile and pump my fist, too. heart
(This series would make great cliff's notes if I was still taking world history)

I think the best part of Hetalia is how it inspires so much fun and awesome fanart. 3nodding
