About a few weeks ago, I was bathing my 14, almost 15-month old son. He likes to stand up in the tub, which is fine as long as he's not screwing around. So he was standing up, and he peed, which brought his attention to his little boy parts. He's noticed his little willy before, during diapers changes or whatever, but this was the first time he noticed it in the tub. Near the end of the bath, he peed a little again, and it scared him a little bit! All well and good, it probably just surprised him.

Well, that's what I thought at the time, anyway.

Ever since then, if he sees even a little dribble of pee come from his little parts, he makes a scared noise and just... doesn't like it. AT. ALL. Usually a toy distracts him and he's fine for the rest of the bath.

Today was a whole different story.

This evening, Aden was in the tub all of, oh, one minute... and he notices his willy again. I think he learned how to make himself pee, because every time he looked at it he would squeeze out a drop... and make a whiny scared noise. Then he actually pees, without trying too, and he flips. He's terrified. He starts crying and trying to climb out of the tub. His dad came down, because he can hear that I'm having a difficult time, and even shows Aden that it's not a scary thing, by peeing in the toilet himself. But Aden is still afraid. I had to make the bath quick and do a half-a** wash, because even between me and his dad, Aden is determined to get out of the tub.

Has anyone else gone through similar fears with their son? Why do you think he's afraid of it? And, most importantly, how can I deal with such an odd fear? It is making bath time very difficult! Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oops, this was a while back, but I see there are no replies! I don't have any helpful advice, and I've never had a boy. My only guess is that he's scared that something's coming out of his body, like some people are afraid when they see themselves bleed. Hopefully by now he's more used to it and isn't so afraid! Let us know!

You could talk to his doctor about it, my 11 month old son isn't like that but my daughter seems to get scared to death of the bath during winter.
He probably just doesn't understand what's going on with his body, I just think you need to keep showing him its ok and that its going to do that for a while.
