Is Kakashi really dead? I haven't seen any other threads about this in the forum, and I've been wondering for a while. I've heard rumors, but since I don't read the manga, I don't know. S: Does anybody know for sure?

When the Akatsuki leader, Pain, invades Konoha, Kakashi engages him in battle and is killed. However, after his confrontation with Naruto, Pain decides to use all of his remaining power to revive those killed in the battle at Konoha, including Kakashi..

And thank goodness for that. I was so terrified when he died. But I had faith that it wouldn't be permanent!
