Blizz, I say this with a thousand furies of pure interest in the future of this guild stampeding across a barren desert of strife and disappointment.
Why is it that whenever you try to take matters as dramatically as this, the guild either flourishes greatly or shatters into smaller, incurable fragments of its former self? I realize that not everyone has the same ideas/opinions when it comes to handling something that effects everything but you really need to start considering the members over yourself.
You want E.R. to expand/grow/revive because you're the GM and think that's what's best. Louis XVI did whatever he was told to do because he wasn't confident enough to ask for the needs of the people or even the nobles and fix them. Look where that got him.
A long time ago the guild had an election to see who the new vice-captain would be to replace the ever loved Queenie. Since then, Sumistar has ruled very well during your absences, for better or worse. Whenever you do come back though it seems she is shoved into the closet for later.
I also think that you don't consider the real needs/wants of the guild over your own. For example, many of the most-active members would say they wanted very literate, trustworthy people in a master's position; not just whoever wanted to be super l33t. So what did we do? We made a whole system to keep the noobs out and the true masters in. There was even a contract created to keep the person accountable.
What have you done? Created a very filtered thread in which any volunteer may join/be whatever they want in terms of a master. You've even offered the same position to anyone who joined the guild in an attempt to promote activity and through activity, a better guild.
In a rad game called Peggle, you can choose a character who's power greatly improves your shot by a certain percentage of possibility. What I think you've done and are doing is using that power, only shooting strait down into a GAME OVER instead of towards the point-scoring orange pegs. Useless waste of effort when you could be doing something incredible; asking the guild what should be done instead of asking yourself.
Thus I want to end with a question. Why should we prove ourselves to you when you are failing to prove yourself to us?
