I would reallly REALLY love to start an rp thread here! but i would like some help setting up the world/storyline. i'm really liking the idea of a magic school of which the characters are students and or teachers.
i would really rather NOT do hogwarts, however i like the idea of a hidden castle that has secrets passages and changing stairwells and such. asking a suit of armor for directions would be cool smile

I would also like to play in this RP. Should we start to discuss a setting and how the magic works? And how many characters would one person be able to play?

well, me and a few others (autumn fyhr, runa wynd, and mooniekittengirl) have been speding the past hour talking about this in RL. we've come up with a basic setting and stuff. i don't have the notes on me right now, i do believe fyhr has them so i'll let her post it.

First, any ideas are still welcome to be submitted. Most of this stuff is not yet set in stone, but will most likely be used.
There is a Devil's Triangle somewhere in Lake Superior (like the Bermuda Triangle), where the school will be located. Arcanum Academy is the name of school, we are working on a description of the castle, please let us know if there is anything you would like to see in it. Also, any student clubs can be submitted.
Classes will be:
Earth
Water
Air
Fire
Metal
Wood
Life
Spirit
Shadow
Weather
Transmutation
Divination
Magical Defense
Magical Combat
Herbology
Alchemy
History
Mundane Academics
Medical
Religion and Magic
Ethics and Philosphy
Under other classes
Galmorie/Illusions
Teleportation
Potions
Age of students allowed is High school and college. We will be putting up a range for students to come from when we start the game.
Creatures that can be seen in this world:
Dragons (they have about the same mass as a horse minus the tale, act like the large cats.)
Mermaids
Griffins
Pegsus
Unicorn
Pheonix
Brownies (8" to 12" tall, androgynous looking)
Fairies (6" tall at most, can speak but they are not smart)
Centaurs (Can look traditional, but they can also split to a human/centaur pair, can not get too far away for too long)
Vampires (There are two types of vampires: one is a species, that has a severe allergy to garlic and gets headaches from strong sunlight; the other is created by a disease. The disease makes the vampire frail and weak. It is very hard to cure.)
Playable species
Elves (click here to see what the elves will normally look like. You can be any color. Not florescent, not metallic.)
Weres (This is a species. You are born like this or you will never become one. You can change into any creature, you do not go senseless and start attacking everything, you keep your mind.)
Human (Most characters should be this, weres and elves will be limited.)

If the folks I worked with think I missed anything please let me know.just a few quick things... 1. the centaurs...it's can be tradition centaur or can spit into human/ horse combo...more info on that can be provided if needed 2. elves - i'm not sure if your link works or not. perhaps find titania on photobucket? (i'm suppose to be heading to bed so i don't have time to do it tonight, but can in the morning) 3. weres. can be of any creature, but i'd recommend that each one can only change into ONE creature. you can be a werebat OR a werewolf OR a weretiger etc. all incoming students MUST pass each of the basic classes of air, fire, water, and earth in order to continue on to more advance classes.

deadly_lifeform Are we having different classes of elves, or just one generic? i'm not entirely sure i understand what you mean. there is only one species of elves. and they are being based of titania from voyage of the unicorn, but are not limited to her blue color. the general look is human in size, but has a variety of skin tones, long ears, and fangs (not as pronounced as that of the vampires)

Civi, sorry for the mix-ups, it was late-ish and my brain was turning off.
If anyone has any other ideas, please, PLEASE, put them down. We would love to know what you guys would like to see if you are planning on playing.
Something I forgot to mention. Harry Potter does exist, in book form only.
