old Oi!-punk band Section 5 is quiting 'cause they are tired of being called a nazi band
by reds and nazis coming to their gigs to spread their politics.

this is Section 5's statement where they anounce that they'll end in februari.
because they're tired of extrempoliticans ruining the streetpunk/oi! scene.

http://www.geocities.com/oisection5/statement.html

what are your opinions about poltics and music?
do they belong or should they be seperated?

I share tosh's(section 5) opinion that poltics don't have anything to do with the streetpunk/oi scene!

I'd imagine that a lot of SHARPs, as well as bands like Anarchoi, would disagree.

alot of sharps takes the whole sharpthing wrong and use it in (left-wing)politics.
sharp is just a statment that you won't tolerate rasism, my self is a sharp,
and wears the button "stay sharp not politic".

According to The Oppressed, the originators of the SHARPs:

""You're causing a split"
When SHARP first kicked off I was expecting Flack from Boneheads. What I didn't expect was flack from 'Non Political' Skins. The way I see it a lot of people use 'Non Politics' as an excuse. If you don't want to get active then fair enough, but don't slag us for fighting back.
As for causing a split then ******** RIGHT! The split is between Skinheads and Boneheads.

Thankfully, now everyone knows Skinhead History. From the late sixties right up to today.
From the Jamaican Rudies and British Mods we evolved into a working class culture that's gone around the world.
STAY TRUE TO YOUR CULTURE, REMEMBER YOUR ROOTS
IF YOU AIN'T GOT THE BOTTLE, JUST HANG UP YOUR ******** FASCISM BEFORE IT ******** YOU"

Not that I'm a skinhead, but if I was, I'd be an Anarcho-skinhead.

Politics have been an essential influence in the Oi scene. I don't even see how that's arguable.

No, Oppressed are not the originators of SHARP!
the SHARP movment fas founded my nyc-skins who ehere tired of beeing called nazis, and By wearing the sharp loggo they made the statment we're not rasists!
and Roddy Moreno and the oppressed found a sharp flyer in nyc on a gig, and he brought the sharp movement to europe!

and yes I'm a sharp! and not political in the mean I don't get engaged in politics or choses any extrem-politic side!
politics has nothing to do with the skinhead-scene...

I find it hard to respect Roddy Moreno, though he acts like a freaking skinhead police!

I don't get the part with Oi! and poliotics though!
I know of more bands that just wanna play their music and not getting involved in politics!
so tell me more of what influence politics had in oi! I just wanna know, and perhaps learn something!

yes? I'm completly aware of our history! ^_^
but what that has that to do with Oi! and politics?

but it's a good text though! should get it tattooed on my back or something!

but it don't mention the "dark" side of the skinhead history!
although the 69-skins seems to be good guys, they still didn't like "pakis"
it's known that both rude boys and skinheads hated pakis 'couse they took their jobs!
and even they were racists!

any way, I think we're kinda OT now! -_-

Class consciousness is political, ergo Oi! has deep political roots and to ignore that is self-induced naivete.

I think you and I talk about politics in two diffrent ways...
I was talking about Oi! being used as a tool to spread a political message...
like the oppressed or skrewdriver

I like politically charged music, especially when I agree with it. I admire bands that have the guts to express their political views, or really any controversial material for that matter.

My siggy relfects my beliefs about Non-Political Punk.

Chaos Punk=Apathy=Ignorance=Waste of Time

I believe Apathy in Punk or Oi! is just being ignorant and is a waste of time.
