I know it's easy to talk about the deities we are drawn to. But, I'm always curious if people have deities that they are repelled by. Deities that you steer clear of or give a wide berth to if you somehow come close to.
Do you feel that it is your own disinterest in them? Or do you feel that it's from the deity actively pushing you away?
For me, it's the Egyptian gods. I get this distinct feeling of "You. Stay over there away from us and we won't do s**t to you." It's just this really thick, almost nauseous feeling.

I felt ignored by the Celtic gods, which troubled me to start off with as I felt, with Irish blood, that I should have some sort of connection to them. Now I know why I don't, which is very reassuring. wink
I'm wary of Heimdallr, though I've had only pleasant interactions with him. I don't expect him to dislike me or anything but I keep feeling like I shouldn't really speak to him. I steer clear of Skadhi. I like the idea of her but I'm still going to give her a very wide berth.
For pantheons as a whole, I can't think of any I feel actually repelled by. There are some I am uninterested in. And of course the Celtic lots pretty much ignore me, except for a couple I've spoken to briefly, although they weren't Gael gods and I didn't get to know them or anything.

I pretty much stay away from the Roman pantheon. I do ok with the Greeks, but...yeah. The Romans aren't the same, and I don't deal with them. Carmenta has been the one notable exception.
Aside from that, I don't really have any aversions.

Not really any that I can think of off the top of my head, but I don't do a whole lot of poking around with various Gods. I'm not particularly fond of Osiris, which I've always found odd, because I was so connected to Isis for a really long time. It wasn't an aversion so much as just not interested in him at all. It makes a bit more sense now, since I seem to have moved in a different direction entirely, but for a long time it was weird.

A really strong aversion? Not really, though I don't think much of the Greek Gods in general and they've never shown any interest in working with me.
Also, Yaweh.

I'm fairly certain Yaweh hates me, or has a strong dislike of me. I won't go into why here, time/place.
I am repelled by Zeus. Could be because of my (potentially imagined) relationship with Aidoneous, but... but, then I MIGHT BE CRAZY. -.-'

I really, really dislike Zeus, but I'm pretty sure that's the feminist in me screaming at Hera to dump him like a sack of bricks over a bridge. But I've never felt any like...aversion from him specifically.
Yahweh, for me, is more of a "Oh hey, you grew up under my religion for fourteen years and then decided to go elsewhere. Happens all the time." Seems more like Yahweh's just let me be since I left Catholicism, which is certainly nice.
Also, Sanguina, I know what you mean about feeling ignored by the Celtic pantheon. I can't connect at all to them, but the Norse pantheon just sucked me in.

When I was younger, and not around the cool Pagans here but elsewhere in the more silly elements of the Pagan internet community, I felt like a bit of a failure (only a little bit, mind) for not being able to connect with the Celtic gods. I mean, everyone worshipped the Morrigan and stuff! And I had Irish ancestry. Surely I should be able to connect with them?! xd Thankfully I never really put much effort into it; I never forced the issue.

Yes! My last name is Scottish and my grandmother's maiden name is Irish on my father's side, so I was like, "Surely there must be something!" But my mother's maiden name is very VERY German, and my grandmother's maiden name on her side is Polish. So I guess my path decided to go Germanic instead of Celtic. I have both, but one beat out the other. My confirmation name is still Brigid, though, since the Christians had a Saint Brigid. I have been through the religious ringer....
I am trying to incorporate Native American traditions into my path because I have full-blooded Cherokee relatives on my father's side; my dad is a big hunter, but he's extremely economic with the carcasses. We have a coat rack where the hooks are made out of deer hooves (and that deer was delicious). I keep telling my dad we should make a big cape out of all the animals he's skinned over the years. I mean, the man makes swords.
Yeah...Germanic Paganism is really my calling at this point. Lol.

Continued from the favorites thread because this seemed more appropriate. Quote: Afro-Dawg Gah, Zeus. Athena, Artemis, and Aphrodite are the only ones out of that pantheon I can mildly relate to. They're just not human enough for me, I think. It's like a soap opera on Mount Olympus. D: I never did like the way Hercules portrayed Hera, though. That seemed unfair. Actually, as far as I'm aware, Hera was pretty nasty to Hercules. She wasn't all around evil, and to some people, she was wonderful. She just hated him as yet more proof of her husbands infidelity. My general problem with the Greek Gods is they just seem a bit unstable. And kind of petty. Like you said, soap opera. Artemis transformed a guy into a hind to be torn apart by his own hounds because he accidentally saw her naked. Hera caused Hercules to go inte a rage and kill his wife and children. And how many women did Zeus sleep with whether they were interested or not? And poor Sysiphus (can't be bothered to look up the proper spelling just now), punished for eternity, mostly because he managed to make the Gods look foolish. Of course, that's just me. I know others have different interpretations of and relationships with the Greek Gods. I don't mean to badmouth them. We just don't mesh.

I thought Orion tried to rape Artemis?
But I know what you mean about petty. Of course, I can't think of an instance where gods in any mythology have let humans get away with making them look foolish.

Orion and Artemis were considered friends. Yikes. I wish I could remember where I heard/read that. I blame mythologists who can't agree on one interpretation. Ohhh.... http://www.pantheon.org/articles/o/orion.html says: Quote: Some say that Orion had raped one of Artemis' female followers, and so Artemis killed him as punishment. She sent a scorpion after him, which stung him and poisoned him. But there are other stories on that site that say they were friends and it was Apollo's trickery that caused Artemis to kill Orion.
