All in all, the day was going quite well so far. She had drilled with some other omegas earlier on, and then gone for a swim with Ignatius. The world was beautiful, the sky intense blue and the grass rich green. Overhead, the rose-petal birds flew and for a moment Salome felt sorry for everyone else in the world; they could not see the beautifully scented creatures as they swooped and dived for the jewel-flies that were also invisible to the rest of the world. Anna was quite quiet today, but her friend was contented and that was good. Nobody was looking for her today either, she supposed They were busy working elsewhere in the world.
Flicking a bladed tail idly, and not noticing the small cut it made on her rump, the gold-eyed mare grazed in deep contentment. She was so lucky she had found this place, the land of the Chosen. She was lucky she had found Ignatius as well, he was so wonderful and brave, and so strong to resist the evil given to him in his blood by his mother. She kept asking Anna to come and meet him, but her friend refused. She supposed she understood; Anna had to keep hidden from everyone or They might find her. It was sad, and very sad that she couldn't even tell anyone of her but all in all life was good in the Hellene territories. Raising her head to watch a rare blue rose-bird go by, Salome smiled and filed the event away to tell to Ignatius later.

Today seemed like a good day to get himself more familar with the herd lands, especially after getting beat in a spar. Now Sanue wasn't one to sulk over a loss, but that one had been particularly close and he knew if he had been faster and that last strike he could have surely gotten his beak to touch just under the other stallion's neck. Unfortuantly for Sanue, his speed was somewhat lacking, and his opponent had gotten their first with thrust of their horn toward his chest. So, the hippogriff decided, it'd be best to work off the negative energy by taking a walk around the herdlands and refreshing the knowledge he had of the borderlines. It was, of course, a good idea to commit those to memory.
Taking his time with an ambling walk through the scarce scattering of trees, Sanue made extra care to keep his olive colored eyes on the scenary around him. Perhaps he'd happen to spot some lone fuzzy creature, unaware or undisturbed of his presence, and then he'd get himself a nice meal to further calm his frustration. That was the plan anyway.
However, before taking another step his taloned foreleg happened to trip over a rather large rock that happened to be in his way. Whether to blame the rock, his overly large talon, or his lack of paying attention to the ground was neither here nor there. The silver feathered stallion let out a surprised squak that happened to be more bird-like than nequus, and bowed forward before he had the chance to catch himself on his other talon. He wound up in an awkward half leaning, half stretched postition that pulled some muscles that really shouldn't have been pulled at all.
"Figures", the hippogriff huffed as he glanced back at the culprit- the large rock that protruded from the ground. Luckily no one was around to see that, it was quite embarrasing after all.

The strange squawking sound made Salomé spin around, ears pinned back and teeth bared; she didn't like things jumping out on her!... Oh what was he? Was he a demon? Was he one of Them, a spy sneaking into her lands? She would kill him!... But... wait... No. Salomé frowned, tails twitching. No. Ignatius had told her that there were other half demons in the herd who were on the side of the Chosen. It was worth finding out if the beaked Jala was such a creature, she wouldn't want to harm a friend. Still caution was needed, she had to be ready to use her magic on this one, or to attack physically if he was warded against it.
"Hello there," the red and gold mare said cheerfully, stepping out from behind the large bush that had concealed her from the other Nequus' view. "I've not seen you here before, are you new? You didn't hurt yourself did you? I'm Salomé, of the omega force. Who are you?" She hoped he was a friend, she didn't really feel like fighting today, everything around her was too bright and lovely for her to want to think about violence. Violence was for days when the sky turned red and blood fell instead of rain, not for days when the petal-birds flew.

Well that was just wonderful, rocks bulging out of the earth only for him to trip on. And its not like he had hooves either, tripping actually stung the pain sensitive talons he had. Thick skinned yes, but not involunerable to pain. Though he had to admit, it wasn't like the time he got a sharp rock stuck between the digits, now that had hurt like a nothing else-
The hippogriff was caught by surprise as a voice suddenly filled his ears, lifting his head up swiftly only to find himself in the company of a cross mare. She... she hadn't seen him trip, had she? Embarrisment came to his features but he was quick to set himself right from the awkward position he had landed in. "Uh, hullo. I'm Sanue, of the alpha force, its nice to meet you Salome-hellene." Now he hadn't met her before, but he was set somewhat at ease hearing she was part of the herd, somehow that made it less embarrasing. Probably because he wouldn't need to chase her away, if she were in the herd lands and not part of the herd, after nearling falling face flat to the dirt.
As for if he was hurt or not... he wasn't certain just yet. Lifting up his talon toward his chest the hippogriff nudged it with his beak here, and prodded it there, before finally flexing the talon on its own and setting it on the ground. "The talon's a bit tender, but I'll be alright. Nothing that can't be walked out." Luckily for him, hopping back toward the center of the hellene herdlands would be quite a bit more embarrising than merely tripping over a rock.

Salome nodded a little distractedly, still eying the stranger up. He said he was a member of the herd but he could be lying, or it would be true but he was a spy not a good and true Hellene. She wished she could use her Sight on command, it would be so useful to be able to tell whether people were good or evil when she first met them. The sad fact was that her gift was unreliable, and after her encounter with that gold stallion she knew that even Nequus who could shift between looking normal and looking like a monster could sometimes be good. It made life very complex, it really did.
Be safe. Just kill him, now, before he can harm you!
Salome blinked and shook her head. No, she couldn't do that! Anna asked her to do things she didn't want to do of late, and it worried her. Once her friend had been so reliable, had given her such good advice, but now she was beginning to worry that Anna might not be entirely right in the head.
I'm just looking out for you, you should listen to me. You'll regret it if you don't.
She hoped that wasn't the case... Maybe she would ask Ignatius later about this one, Ignatius knew such a lot.
"Oh, that's good," the red mare said eventually with a smile and a nod, pushing her worries aside for the time being. "Your talons are interesting," she went on, "and so is your beak. How did you come to be like that, do you know? I didn't ever see my parents so I don't know if I got my odd traits from them or if it just happened." This was quite a cunning ploy, she felt; if he was an evil monster he might give himself away with his answer, you never knew your luck.

The longer the pause she took the more uncomfortable Sanue began to feel. And when she did begin to speak, the hippogriff wondered if her 'politeness' withheld anything. In his experiance, the more polite a nequus seemed, the crueler they could be in their taunts or ravings of how he looked. Was this mare the same way? Still, she was a herdmember, or said she was at least, so he shouldn't be jumping to conclusions like that at all. The silver feathered stallion kept his body lithe and untense, relaxed even. His experiance with the herd had been going so well as of late, he wouldn't want to spoil it with something like this.
And then she started asking about his talons and his mutations, but it wasn't quite the tone he had been expecting. In fact, she seemed guenually interested in them, which was good, he supposed. "To be honest, I'm not completely sure what happened to me. I've been like this since I hatched, but it feels good to finally find a herd that accepts me despite how I look."

Salome nodded; he was saying all the right things, and she wanted to like him but she couldn't let herself do that just yet. "Yes, I know what you mean. Most people hate crossbreeds, and people who don't look normal. This is a good place to be; we're safe here." Provided They didn't sneak in spies. She really didn't think Sanue was one of them but caution was always the best policy. Yes. be careful of him until she was sure. Most likely he was like Ignatius and herself; slightly monstrous outside but good inside.
"Do you know Ignatius?" she asked after a few moments of silence. "He's strange looking too. He says it's nice to be different, I think I agree. I like standing out, and having good weapons I can use to protect the herd if anyone ever tries to take our land or harm us." She wouldn't let that happen, oh no, she would destroy anything that threatened this land and she wouldn't feel a shred of remorse. They were the Chosen, their lives were worth thousands of times more than the life of any other.

The hippogriff bobbed his head at first, listening to what she had to say. Yes, most people do tend to dislike crossbreeds, but from what he'd heard there were other reasons to it. Something about tainting bloodlines or what not, but either way he found such thoughts to be silly and pompus. Crossbreeds were just nequus whose parents happened to be a little more open than usual folk, which to him, sounded more appealing than 'normal' nequus ever could.
Ah! Now that caught his attention. As soon as she mentioned Ignatius the hippogriff's lips pulled into a smile. "I've known Ignatius for many seasons now, but we just recently found each other again after not seeing each other for quite some time." That had certainly been a chance meeting, but it had been a good one. For once it had seemed luck had been on his side, and now he meets a cross mare who also knows of, and apparently respects, the sharp-toothed stallion. "In fact, he's the very reason I joined this herd. Its always nice to meet someone who eats meat like I do, but I think of him as a friend and it would be nice to be able to talk with him often enough." And he couldn't really do that outside of the herd now could he? Not without waiting for one of the scaled-stallion's days off anyway, and there was no garuntee Sanue would be in the area at that time.
Still he went on after inspecting Salome just a little bit more than he had initially, noticing the strange additions to her tails. The hippogriff nodded, "Indeed, having weapons to protect one's herd or loved ones is always a plus if you ask me. I don't know I'd be able to get along as well as I have without my talons, and I'd never think of trading them in for hooves even if I got the chance." Curiousity struck him slightly as he settled into a more relaxed position, with his feathered wings tucked laxly around his sides. "If I may ask, how do you know Ignatius?"

"Oh, that," Salome shuffled her wings and gave a slightly embarrassed smile. "We're just friends; I met him sparring and we've hung around together quite a lot since. It's been good to train against him, he's a long stronger than me so I'm never lost for a challenge. I can use my tail-blades more like I actually would in battle too; his scales deflect damage a lot better than normal skin does." He was so impressive. He didn't have powers like she did, but then nobody else had powers like hers. She hoped they stayed friends, she did love being with him.
Yes. The scaled one if good for you, he is a great force for the Chosen... You must see him soon and ask about this one. I don't trust him, I think you should just kill him, but failing that you must ask Ignatius about him. Today. If you don't find him today, you must find the beaked one again and get rid of him. He's too big a risk.
Well, fine, she'd have no trouble meeting Ignatius today, they already had it planned even. Even if they didn't though, even if she couldn't find him she couldn't just do something like that, it was far too hasty and far too violent. She couldn't risk harming a Chosen, no matter what Anna said.
"Would you like to spar with me sometime?" Salome asked after a few moments. "I'm quite busy later on today," she had to find Ignatius, "but another day?"

Well it was good to know Salome and Ignatius got along just fine, or so it seemed anyway. It would have been strange to learn, later on, from the scaled-reya a different sort of opinion about the creature who now stood before him. Although he doubted the likelihood of that, for she seemed genuinely friendly enough. Yes, it was a good thing for him to have joined the Hellenes. If things kept going the way they did, Sanue would surely begin to feel more accepted in this Urin.
The hippogriff's lips pulled into a 'grin' of sorts, exposing only the few back molars he had close to the back of his mouth. "I wouldn't mind having a spar with you sometime, I'm usually at the grounds early-morning to mid-day. It'll be easy to find me there." He had yet to spar with his friend Ignatius, which was a bit of a let down once he thought about it that way, but it'd be good to expand his experiance with someone like Salome. After all, those tail blades certainly looked dangerous. Good practice makes for good fun later on, and Sanue's talons certainly hadn't had enough of that, so it was best to be ready and prepared. No telling when things might stir up with the herd.

Salome grinned and bobbed her head. "Thank you! I really look forward to sparring with someone as different as you! It'll be a whole new experience!" Which would be good if she had to fight him for real... Though it would also teach him her weaknesses. Not a lot she could do about that though, and if he really was what he seemed - another good and odd Hellene - it would just be fun, good exercise, and a good chance to think quickly, react to the unexpected.
"I have to go now," Salome said as she raised her head to take in the position of the sun. "More drills soon, I need to get to the sparring grounds, I don't want to be late!" Being late would be awful, she didn't like to disappoint captain Hades after all, or her friends in the force come to that.

Well, he wasn't certain if he should take offense to being called 'different' but she didn't seem to mean it in a nasty way. Besides, he was different after all, no use in denying that part at all. The hippogriff nodded his head in agreement, it would certainly be fun to spar with Salome and her tails. For not many nequus could claim that part of their body as a weapon. Well, Ignatius could, but that's a different story.
"It was nice meeting you, Salome. I'll be looking forward to our spar", Sanue replied, sure he needed to set off on his own now too. He had calmed down considerablly about losing the spar, but traveling the borders still seemed like a good idea to the hippogriff. Commiting them to memory would certainly benefit him in the future, he was sure of that. With a slight incline of his head, the silver feathered stallion stepped aside and began to travel in the direction he had been going before they had encountered one another. Maybe sometime soon he could talk to Ignatius, perhaps get some more information on this friendly cross mare. Plus it would be worth listening to Ignatius' opinion on the girl. She seemed... rather 'into' the scaled-stallion. Perhaps something was going on? No, no, best not even come to any conclusions like that before he heard Ignatius's side of it. With a thought like that, Sanue went on his way.
