in the movie anne of avonlea marilla and anne have a conversation something along the lines of the following( i haven't seen it in a while humour me) "M: would you want to marry a wicked man ? A: I think i'd like a man who could be wicked and wouldn't."
i was wondering how well other people relate to that , because it pretty well describes my "bad boy" thing i'm not exactly the "jump on the back of a harley " kind of girl i'm a really good girl actually , but i like "bad-boys" not jerks but the ones who choose not to be wicked even though they could be .

I think what Anne is meaning by the "I'd like to marry a man who isn't wicked but could be" is meaning "A man who would stand up against something wrong." If someone is saying something about me, I'd want my husband to at least say something as in, "That's not cool, why'd you say that." Stand up. I imagine that's what Anne meant. I always got the impression that she kind of thought Fred was a wuss.

The way I see it is that a man who can face temptation and resist it is probably stronger than one who never has faced any serious temptation, as well as the fact that someone who knows nothing but good behavior doesn't really understand it and why it is special. Remember what Sheeta's grandma (in Castle in the Sky) told Sheeta when asked why she had to learn destructive magic.
