T&S announced today that their new album is going to be titled "SAINTHOOD" and it's set to come out on Oct. 27. It will consist of 13 to 15 tracks. Quote: "I think it's pretty dark," said Tegan, describing the tone of the new record. "It's very poppy sounding still, but it's a pretty dark record. There are a few songs that were influenced by mid-'90s punk rock fascination, so there's definitely some dark, fast, kind of heavy stuff on the record, but there's some pretty poppy stuff as well. Sara's got a couple tracks that, I don't even know how to explain, really weird but very poppy." read the whole interview here!I CAN'T WAIT.

I agree. I just can't wait! It's sad how I'm hoping for the holidays to be over soon now. Just pathetic.

It will be my last month of school ever but I will be more excited about Sainthood haha. By the way, does the name "Sainthood" sound like christian rock to anyone else? It did to me at first but I guess I'm getting used to it now.

I thought the cover for The Con was great, but I'm not really a fan of this cover. Hopefully it'll grow on me.

UTG First Impressions is a segment where we let you into our early thoughts on a highly anticipated album, This week, we have our early views on Tegan & Sara’s Sainthood. It drops October 27, 2009. Two years after they were thrust into the national spotlight with the release of The Con, the Canadian duo of Tegan & Sara are returning with what just might be their most heartfelt release to date. Stemming largely from a tragic break up, Sainthood works like the cycle of moving on from a breakup. Gone are the days of acoustic track after acoustic track and welcome is this new sound of T&S that’s both experimental and still reminiscent of their folk roots. While tracks like “Midnight” and “Red Belt” will keep old school fans watering at the mouth with their smart witted lyrics that mesh oh so well with light accompaniment, but the true meat of the record is in the tracks that explores new sounds for the duo. “Don’t Rush” sounds like a track you’d find in some ultra-hipster nightclub with strobe lights on the ceiling and Manhattans as the special at the bar while “Northshore” is reminiscent of late 70’s punk. Seriously. It may come as a surprise to some, but this is the first album in which the duo wrote together. Generally speaking, the majority of T & S’s material has been written by one of the pair, but with this record they wanted to be fully collaborative and I think it’s in that mindset that the very sporadic and engaging sound of the record comes from. Nothing stays the same and nothing grows old on the 6th album from the group and here’s hoping the fans will follow the lead of expanding their minds to what “good music” can be because if nothing else, Sainthood proves Tegan and Sara to be two of the most innovative musicians and songwriters working today.

I think she means mainstream; however, that doesn't mean selling out.
On their new website it seems like they really went out of there way to reassure their fans that no matter what happens, they're still the same girls that we've come to know and love.
I have a dreadful feeling that they will become exceedingly popular after the debut of Sainthood.
I've always really like the fact that they are not a hugely popular band. I think it makes them more special.
D: I'm so excited/terrified of what will come in the next few months.

That's exactly what I'm scared of too. I like that they aren't that big. It's always really exciting to see/hear them on the tv/radio but if they are on it all the time...
I'm really happy though that the new album is almost out.
(scared as only a hardcore fan can be)

It's nice to like a small band, but them becoming more popular/mainstream isn't abnormal. That's what happens to bands.
