As a well known guide, i feel here at GCG we should have some sort of Halo count.
I feel this is necessary in many ways, as the gaian community is askign about the halo more, a count would be a good event to do.
It could be organised as a anonymous owner. if the owner doesnt want their name to be put down. we could have anonymous. and perhaps pm to alexi? im not sure.
but this will be a good idea, and fun too. heart

Well Tamcharles told me that there exists one user that he knows of who actually has more than one Halo. I don't know about him/her but I know that I wouldn't want that information getting out more than it is already.
And in the light of the recent hacking on the vend, apparently someone was hacked and had their '03s liquidated at 1g each... it's probably kinda unfair to even mention those wealthy oldbies. confused heart

Ah..well actually I don't really think we need a "halo count." Not only would it be impossible to determine how many there actually are, but like others have said, it would open the guide to numerous problems.
Anonymous count? Maybe. There used to be a count made by May Domainee that we all used. But like she and others thought, it would be best to keep that count secret to avoid people getting PMs about Halos and the like.

First of all, I'd like to say how glad I am that the guild is becoming more active. 3nodding I am still active here, even though I haven't posted in a while. Thanks to everyone who gave me the basic info I needed to start making gold on Gaia. I've come a long way since I first joined here. 3nodding
Now back to the matter at hand, I have a few names of people I've seen with halos and one time or another. I'm thinking this will be like Cronos99's Rare Fish Count, and there could be a list with the procs of the Halos we've found. Of course they would remain anonymous if they wished. If this idea is ever carrried out, then maybe someone could PM me for the list of names I have and go from there. I'll help as much as I can. 3nodding

I personally do not like that idea. I had my name on Cronos99's Rare Fish Mask thing back in the day when he was starting out. I got alot of PMs about the masks I had, as I use to own all 3 lion masks.
Now I don't mind the annoymous count. As I can personally name the location of 40+ halos. However, I saw the proc# recently on a friends halo, proc was 1089. So there are at least 90 halos out there. I am sure there are more, I do not really see a need for a halo count, the count cannot be altered and more then likely it will be used for this excuse when one goes up for sale.
"I am selling one out of the 90 halos existing!! I want 350 million for it!!"
Something that I use to see alot with the Gambino fish masks.

Example: If people think there are 200 halos, when there are really 100 halos. Then they may get more picky then if they thought there was twice as much.

I would assume that if we put a halo count up even if it's just a number, all we'd be doing is causing artifical inflation. Everyone would use it as an excuse to sell and it would just rise more and more, making the GCG the reason for an artifical inflation and that wouldn't be good, as I'm sure everyone knows.

I'm New To This Guild... But Heres My Input Anyway:
Even If It Is Annoymous, I Think It's Going To Bring Up Problems.
Its Also Impossible To Get Count Of Everyone Who Has A Halo.
As Kagen Said, Theres Atleast 90+.
Halos May Be Rare, But They Are Wanted, So People Strive For Them And,Eventually, Buy Them From Someone.

Of course that's an exaggeration, but I haven't been here for nearly 6 months and the first thread I wander into is newbs (or n00bs?) debating how many halos there are. "I've seen 9 halos, I'm so cool" :/
I may have lost my passion for Gaia, but I haven't lost my blunt disrespect for (the majority of) its users.
and for the record, I have seen 64 different users with halos : P

Well, I would hope that a user who has just joined Gaia would properly devise a method to gather that information.
For one, he/she has to properly sample each forum, subforum, and guild at random, at random times, for several instances and for a set duration each time. Also a proper sampling size would need to be established that would be statistically significant and representative of the Gaian population as a whole. Proper controls would have to be put in place since the look of an avatar may bias the results. lol

You also have to take into account that some people have halos that never play. They may have donated and never come back. So say we find the person with the highest halo proc number, there could be a few other people that don't play that have a few in their accounts with higher numbers.
