Half Bood Prince is being advertised as the best Harry Potter movie yet, by both critics and fans. So for those of you that have seen the movie already, what are your oppinions? Did it live up to your expectations? What was cut out that bothered you? What did you think about the added Burrow scene?
We all knew before that Alan Rickmans performance would be fabulous so there's no real need to ask about that. xd But what did you love or what bothered you about the movie?

Needless to say, AlanRickman didn't have enough screen time.
The movie, like the others, was not as good as the book. That didn't need to be said. There was no real plot, since the story was following through from the last movie, and that would have been okay if they really focused more on the character dynamics.
In fact, I thought that Alan Rickman (who was great throughout the movie) could have been better at the very end. There wasn't much of a climax. He was just like *I AM the Half Blood Prince* and stormed off like an anrgy diva. I wish there had been more tension, or emotion there. crying
did i mention he didn't have enough screen time?
Overall it was entertaining, and the actors were great.... though slightly drawn out.

Yes I do agree that he did not have enough screen time. I think Bella had more then him and I don't believe she was even in book 6 or if she was it wasn't much. So yeah, as much as I like Bella I was very disapointed that she got more screen time then Snape. I do also agree that it seemed a bit rushed there at the end.

Considering they only have a 2 and half hour time frame I think they did a good a pretty decent job. There was a lot of differences from the book to movie though at the same time follows the story... if that makes any sense to you. I think the movies would be more enjoyable to those who have not read the books, cause the people who have read them are too busy comparing the book to the movie to let go and enjoy the movie. Then they come out disappointed. I did that a little bit, but the people behind me were horrid for it. They just wouldn't shut up, though just I was about the shush them a little more than half way threw the movie, someone else did. There is no satisfying some fans. I think there should have been more Snape. crying Snape is my favorite character the fight at the end was quite anti-climatic. The trailers make it look like that scene was going be better than that. You'd think they'd have a bit more Snape in this movie cause just like the book focused on Memories of Tom Riddle and Draco's Mission, it was also goes into Snape's character more.
The acting was well done, LOVED the love potion scene.

I think Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was my favorite HP movie yet! I liked that Snape was a bigger part in this movie, but they should have had him yell more when Harry called him a coward. It was well made and I enjoyed it greatly, but they left out some good stuff. For example, they didn't put Dumbledore's funeral, which I really wanted to see. They also didn't make Dumbledore put extra protection in the school when he left with Harry, so they didn't have the Order fight the Death Eaters. And they also didn't put Bill and Fleur in the movie. I think the scene at the Ron's house was not that good. They could have left it out instead of leaving out Dumbledore's funeral, for example. But I really liked the movie and I can't wait till the next one!

Attic Cat -- I agree, ther is just no pleasing some fans. That's why no matter what movie based on a book that I see I always try to forget that I've read the book. You have to look at them as two different things not the visual version of the other or else you'll always be disapointed to some degree. Or atleast that is what I have found with myself. Does that make sense? I too was a bit disapointed in the lack of memories. I was looking forward to seeing the story of Voldie's mom. I think that is a lovely but sad story. But I think they probably cut all that out so as not to confuse the audience that hadn't read the books with a bunch of names and such that they had never heard of before. I do think they could have at least showed Harry viewing more memories even if they didn't show them to us because I find it hard to believe that after seeing 2 memories that he is ready to go look for horcrux by himself. And might I point out that now he has to go look for them on his own but it never mentioned (as far as I remember) what the remaining ones were.
Shoshana-- Yes, I kinda missed the funeral as well but I thought the whole lighting of the wands was very sweet. I also liked that they placed Neville beside McGonagall and Hagrid (protectors of the school in 7). I agree in a way about Ron's house. I thought hte scene was kinda cute but a little pointless. I understand that they did it to show that Harry was being personaly affected by what all was going on but I seriously have issue's with them blowing up the burrow. So much of the begining of the 7th book takes place there. Granted they will probably extremely cut down if not completely out the wedding, but that is where they are supposed to get their gifts from Dumbledore. Besides, how and why would you want to blow up the Burrow?

It was entertaining. HOWEVER: Huge amounts of time were spent on the subplots of the book, and the major plot was summed up in a few sentences....
Disappointment overall, but very entertaining.

It was a really good movie, but it could have been better, I mean, the end was too rushed, talk about an anti climax, "I am the half blood prince" wasn't what I was expecting after all the tension of the movie of the half blood prince. But the death of Dumbledor was done well

Didn't they leave out Snape's Grand speech in DADA? I wanted to hear it sooo badddlllllyyyy!! I also found the who 'I am the Half Blood Prince!' thing anti-climatic. They did not give clues that were in the book, like Hermione finding Snape's mom in a book. I also agreed they needed to put in more memories, but they only used two, which didn't really do much, because now they've got the problem of trying to get how Harry figures out all the Hurocurxes. They also did nothing much to show Harry was still greatly upset with Sirius's death, they did a bit in the beginning, but they ended up making Harry go on a date he couldn't keep. They also did put in Grimmauld place, which is important, because it brings in Kreacher. I liked the movie, it was entertaining, but I wonder why it was rushed like it was. I mean, they had delays with Twilight going out, right? They could of done more. I loved the part in the movie when Snape heals Draco, his robe like all splayed out in the water. Very good! I also loved Ron when he accednetly took the love potion! He defantly made me laugh! The Twins joke shop was amazing too! And I loved how mental Bellatrix was, screaming 'I KILLED SIRIUS BLACCKKK!' I also liked the Burrow scean, though it didn't come from the book. They didn't need it, but I liked it and how it introduced Fenrir Grey back. I whish Snape had more screen time, he was really more important to the story, but you know.....Whatever.

Yea, I really wanted to see the start where the cups are banging against the Dursleys lol! Dumbledore's death was a travesty. Snape -vs- Harry scene was terribly underdone.
And they left out my fave memory-the Gaunts.
How is Harry supposed to figure out the Horcruxes? Ugh....they'll have to add something new.
Y'know they almost ruined the whole thing? The movie was completed just as Deathly Hallows came out, and at the end of the movie they had put Harry keeping Dumbledore's wand as a reminder. BIG NO NO! Then at a scence in D.H. when Harry was after misplacing his wand, the director was like "use dumbledore's" then he realised that they'd made that part up! rolleyes rofl
Imagine if they had left it in though??? It would have ruined the whole storyline!!!
