Description: A mountain plateau, one of many that lies in a mountain range north of GTB known as the Tophead Mountains, is the fighting spot for this round. Moving from the standard of being inside a stadium surrounded by people, Midus Sonners has decided to make up for throwing the fighters into a fight full of bad weather and has taken them to a spot that is nice and warm with nice breezy winds of the fresh mountain air, and a good amount of water surrounding each plateau, with various other hills present throughout, including some land and a background view of the higher mountains. Each fighter will be in a location far away from the other matches, so neither will be capable of seeing one another, unless someone launches a pretty large technique, be it visually or by magical sense. Cameramen rest in flying helicopters and on islands out in the water to keep a close watch on the fights taking place for all to see from the safety of their livings and the large screen present back at the GTB stadium.

Grass and rock is the terrain, with a few small ups and downs that keep the plateau from being perfectly flat. The edge drops down in a curve toward the waters, the plateau raised at a height of fifty feet above water. The slope isn't steep, so if one slips down the hill, they can easily catch themselves and start walking back up, though not without some effort.

How The Fighters Arrived: All fighters were transported via helicopters, one helicopter per fight with both fighters being transported in the same vehicle.

Special Conditions: None.

Field Measurements:

Here is a visual of the field measurements, with the assumption that the plateau is circular on its top.

User Image

Ten Count Boundary: The moment someone goes goes outside the 30ft diameter, meaning touching the slopes, the ten count starts. To show where the ten count starts, a holographic barrier surrounds the plateau in a half opaque orange color. For reference, the distance of the slope from the edge of the top to the water is 15 ft.

The flying rule remains.

[Pre-Fight: Helicopter Ride] . . .

Silence. Though the two fighters were so close to one-another in the same vehicle, Omi Barsait would simply remain quiet. No use in engaging in any pre-bout babble right now; gazing out the nearest window to survey the battle-scape was far more important. Besides, if the enemy tried to get the drop on him here, he was fairly confident within a moment's notice, he could have this airborne transport plummet to the ground in a nova of flames; confidence in his safety at this point was all but given.

"A plateau, surrounded by water blue; gradual slopes, small peak, plenty of rock and grass. From what I inquired, the height here's roughly 50' above sea-level; visibility should more than accompany the fighting surface. The surroundings work two-fold; I really can't practically create a water reaction due to the travel time to and from the peak down to the water surface, my opponent likely wouldn't allow me such frequent trips. However, this also means my opponent provided they've abilities of this nature, won't have much access to anything that can prevent a good blazing of the plateau surface. And if he opts for a ranged offensive to try and force me right off the summit.." A quick sniffle. The altitude wasn't what he was used to.

".. I've got enough weighted garb to keep me grounded coupled with the rock & soil mixture to keep a good foundation - that strange light surrounding the summit should keep me from accidentally stumbling too far as well, and thanks to the favorable weather, if I play this correctly.."

One sound would greet the enemy, titled "Takamura:" a right fist loudly forming, knuckles coming into play with great audibility.

Post-helicopter landing.

Suddenly leaping out of his seat like a wild animal let loose of its chains moments before the helicopter even touched down - Barsait whipped the door leading to the location of battle wide-open, lunging out into the contrasting, bright sunlight with glee. He seemed strangely eager to be the first one on the scene..

"..!! THERE!" Watching his own hair gust predominantly to the far left, or the "southern" end of the plateau - Barsait would instead crash his body weight to the right, mad-dashing ahead to the adjacent side as the winds bellowed against him.

Crossing his arms in a defiant gesture, Barsait suddenly bashed the junction points on his shoulder pauldrons again - same as the fight against Deitric Jocasta. And sure enough, they plummeted off his smooth, sleek ring-mesh covered shoulders, his hands quickly coming back to their sides as they jabbed themselves into the snake-headed pauldrons. The gauntlets & pauldrons synced together, his hands just visible through the snake-headed mouths - all before a good 5' away from the northern edge, Barsait twirled around mid-place.. and suddenly seemed to calm down, a wild & toothy grin still plastered on his face.

Hands shoulder-distance, snake-heads and palms facing the dirt below. An odd show. One would have to wonder just what he was planning that had him in such an uproar - ah, but time and combat would both be telling.

You Will Never Be A Man
Takamura sat in the helicopter as it flew over the mountains. He had missed his last round due to his injuries from the first, the broken ribs and sternum still troubled him, but he was determined to do much better this time. He had made a stupid mistake before, but judging by his opponents lack of armor Takamura held the upper hand in this fight.

As the helicopter touched down Takamura slid the door open and stepped out before sliding his katana into his obi. Turning to face his opponent he simply shook his head at the mans over eagerness to start. Takamura wouldn't do such a thing, but he felt something rising within himself.

Since it appeared that the man had already entered his fighting stance Takamura took up his. Sliding his left foot back he gripped his saya in his left hand and slid it out of his obi to hold it at arms length away from his body at waist level. He then held his right just over the handle of his katana. This would allow him to accelerate the blade out of it's sheath to strike his opponent with lightning speed, it would be over quickly.

The ring-mesh coated fighter Omi Barsait was uninterested in "stances" at this point. Rule of USMC combat #7: "In ten years, nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived, and whom did not." The opponent had a calm approach to their to-be heated combat, but to say the Round III Serpentine Manipulation artist wasn't calm would be the most absurd statement imaginable. Something in the air spoke tomes of knowledge to him, imparting it directly into his mind; words of support.. of victory.

"Here!" The long-haired gentleman would howl, a crimson serpent fluttering out of his left palm, extending 2' from the open pauldron's mouth. Repeating himself with a far more gruff tone, the pale-skinned fighter's mannerisms were fading from energetic, to eager, to practically bathing the winds with a foul determination to crush his living obstacle - "HERE!" Yet another 2' serpent, gutting out of the right palm.

Perfectly linear serpents, it was still strange he only spawned one per hand - and how fixed a position they held. Usually, he would create a couple, and wind them about in a hard-to-follow squadron. Yet, as the man's shoulders began to spasm, the shoulder-blades stretching against cloth and tungsten - those crimson snakes and their purposes would come into full view.

More of the red 'light,' the blood-red mass that strewn from Barsait's flesh, indeed extended from his hands yet never left their general proximity. One could state they were expanding the bases of those two serpents, fluctuating & changing entirely their general shape. The pauldron mouths, shaped fittingly like serpent heads, would begin to fill with this "light" - until the final shape of the two procured serpents would be a thick base, and a smaller, finer-pointed tip.

"My apologies - Takamura.. was it? My apologies for being so stoic yet cold to you on our unpleasant ride over, friend." Not even bothering to remove his spectacles this time, the sunlight played off their lens eerily - lending way to Omi's amber-brown eyes wafting over the katana wielding foe, pupils tearing into his corpse. If the opponent sought to rush immediately, he'd be well spotted doing so - the "element of surprise" was in Barsait's palms. His smile took a more sinister appeal, voice booming and friendly .. yet accompanied by a sarcastic and malicious set of qualities.

"However, I think we'll have a great deal of time to become acquainted, starting right around now-ish. Curious to the reasoning for that, dear Takamura?" Inhaling one single breath - those palms turned into clenched fists, that smile turned into a full-blown wild grin, that calm if not eerie voice crashed into a crescendo of taunting laughter - nay, a cackle, and Omi's entire upper-torso began to weave back and fourth in place. Something like a drunkard.

"The answer: I need a good round of combat. I'll make it frank: I'm going to pummel you until you stop moving. Don't fret too much, I'm not the sort to kill even if it was allowed on the tourney regulations- but burn, maim, and bash apart, THOSE ACTIONS are NOT out of my territory. Catch my drift, swordsman?" Sway to the left~ Sway to the right~ Sway to the left~ Sway to the right~ Like a cobra sizing up their meal.

Craning his head back to get a better look at the no-doubt soon to approach foe, Omi continued on with those taunting vocals: "Now~ Show some mettle and draw that damned blade already, or I'll be forced to take the initiative."

[RED COMET]

"Of course, technically speaking.. I already have. What a shame."

You Will Never Be A Man
Takamura ignored the swaying body, it was of no concern to him. What did concern him were the snakes that emanated from the mans hands, that was his weapon, and what appeared to be a whip like weapon, though they were snakes.

The only thing Takamura would do to show that he was paying attention was drop his stance lower to the ground. The swordsman never struck first, Battoujutsu being a mostly defensive fighting style, but he was ready for whatever the man would throw at him. Takamura had no special power, nothing extraordinary about him. All he had was his sword, and years of fighting to establish the Meji government. He couldn't see the future, but he knew enough about the past to be able to tell what attacks would fall where, and what he could do to block them.

"You first." was all the fighter uttered as his gaze hardened as he continued to watch his opponent, ignoring the swaying. The man used snakes, so it was only natural that he would act like one. Takamura cleared his mind as he readied for the first assault.

Jaw lowering, that bottom row of glistening teeth suddenly clashed with the upper - and the situation came to full detail.

The two serpent-masses ignited. The serpents themselves acted like guiding lights for the flames spawned, and the pauldrons helped keep the fluctuating mass in proper shape from the base up. You could now claim Omi had two 2' "blades" of flame, triangular shaped with the point exiting the pauldron mouths - and they were burning most, most exquisitely.

"Oh~? Me first? Well that's mighty sporting of you." Yet another weave to the left.. and then all at once, Omi swung that left hand across the grass & pebble in front of him, left-to-right in a very wide arc, catching the ground ablaze most sufficiently. And indeed, the winds gave those embers a boon, as they proceeded to spread forward along the ground - swelling outwards slowly but surely across the plateau summit.

The danger wasn't just.. the flames, as much as the fact they were his special crop of flame that Omi was relatively acceptable in stepping through, while other individuals not blessed with the [Serpentine Manipulation Art] would not be so blessed. And with the summit being so very small in relative terms, reaching a mere 30 ft. diameter - those crisp, tasty winds would spur onward to make the limited fighting surface even more limited.

Of course, not content to merely sit back and let the flames take their natural course, Omi proceeded to swing his arms about like a mad butcher skewering flesh - swinging those katar-blades of flame about wildly as one patch of the plateau surface after another was scorched and caught ablaze - given more flame, more heat as the blazes rose higher, the altitude not being high enough to significantly damage the average flame height but being high enough to give a slight temperature boost as higher altitude residential homes with ovens would suggest.

"On second thought Takamura, perhaps it'd be more convenient if you come to me." Barsait mused, still swinging back and fourth except now to take another swing at the ground as the flames spread outward to engulf the surface area. Yet, even as this was done - those amber-brown eyes never blinked even once now, pupils locked onto the foe swordsman without fail.

You Will Never Be A Man
Seeing the flames Takamura replaced the saya to his obi and drew his katana. If that was how the man wanted to play, then Takamura would oblige. With the katana tip mere inches from the ground he dashed forward, calculating the exact moment to strike. If Takamura assumed correctly the fire was a single ring, and once inside that ring it would be hotter, but not unbearable as the fire consumed the fuel about itself. All he needed now was a door.

Mere seconds before bursting through the flames Takamura swung his katana diagonally from the ground to his left shoulder, causing a great gust of wind to shoot out from the blade, beating back the flames just long enough for Takamura to emerge on the other side relatively unscathed. Replacing his katana to his obi he looked at the man, his gaze hard. "Coward." he uttered as he waited for the mans response.

The flames had been spawned rather close to Omi's person in a semi-circle - an arc if you will, ahead of him. Still, the opponent rushing his way through the embers and gusting his blade about like some kind of supernatural wind-conjurer was impressive, if not foolhardy. Yet, the core issue with this method was thus: the "end" of the flames was literally directly in front of the weaving Barsait.

Ergo, as the samurai plunged his way through perils grand and slammed that weapon back into its sheath with a self-righteous stance to him, Barsait was still weaving in place. Perhaps it was unwise of Takamura to "ignore" this weaving, for before the man even proceeded to label Omi a coward, the annunciation commencing bitterly- in came with it the weaving man swinging his right "flame katar" directly across the predictable, linear path of the swordsman.

A 2' "blade" of heat, ramming itself right across where the man's mouth would be. And as Omi finished the lurch to the left, weaving so many times that he had now built momentum and was able to continue this constant shifting of weight to the left & right rather quickly - the left hand's extension of flame proceeded to come almost immediately across where the fellow's neck was; the dark-clad fellow was in rather close proximity to Takamura.

There was a slight issue with the technique tree "Battōjutsu" which literally translated to 'techniques for drawing a sword,' in that it required a sweet-spot of distance in order to be truly effective. Get too close, and it became inefficient since it would be hard to even draw the blade without resistance. It was indeed more a defensive than offensive extension of the blade such techniques saw, more often than not - and with Omi practically right against the fellow's submerged obi and having no problem pressing dear Takamura into the flaming hell behind them that would slowly be regaining its proper shape even as Omi continued his wild barrage of whipping strikes..

.. well, it was clear what Omi Barsait's intentions were at this point. Force the opponent into a series of decisions with a solution prepared for each - and capitalize on the information overload to reach the desired conclusion: a heated onslaught! Less cowardly was this than merely deceptive.

You Will Never Be A Man
Takamura saw the flaming blade and smiled, so this was how he wanted it, to force the swordsman back. Determined not to concede even an inch without reason Takamura ducked below the blade, the last bit of his hair becoming singed as the blade passed overhead, but this was surely to be expected, what was to come wouldn't be.

It was true Battoujutsu was the art of drawing and subsequently striking with the sword, but for Takamura it had become a lifestyle as well. He wasn't called the Battousai during the revolution for nothing. Charging forward, faster than he had through the flames, Takamura advanced on his opponent. His sword still tucked away in it's sheath the gap between them was shrinking, fast. At the last possible moment, when Takamura knew exactly where his swaying opponent would be in the very next second he used his left thumb to accelerate the blade out of the sheath and into his waiting right hand.

This would have led to a complete drawing slash had the two not been so close, but seeing as that was impossible Takamura jammed the end of the handle into the mans abdomen, hopefully knocking the air from his lungs and causing him to bend double, which would give Takamura a clear angle to fully draw his katana and cut the mans side as he fell forward, the exposed blade of the not yet completely drawn sword slicing into the flesh of the man.

Perhaps Takamura was the war-hero of some battle in the annals of history - but Omi was a several year vet in the very competition they currently found themselves in, and it was through these eerie battles with the most absurd of foes that he had gained something of a reputation himself.

Namely, that of a man who could take your slightest mistake, however seemingly insignificant at the time - and end your life with it.

Omi's eyelids widened two octaves - first at the man somehow managing to duck a blow he should've had little time to do so with from a diagonal approach, this suggested great agility. But the second time.. was as the sound of that handle rushing through the air came fourth - for this sound was the signal to Armageddon itself. Unfortunately, not for the expected party.

[Reversal]

Ring-mesh. Beneath his clothing, to his wrists and a foot above the soles of his feet. Tungsten alloyed with steel, it was a sufficient guard that wasn't overly extravagant, with a high melting point. An ideal set of protection for Barsait indeed. However, more importantly, as the impact struck him, a bit of spit spraying out from the man's lips - so too did his abdomen crash against the handle, #1straight towards the body in which the supporting limb was attached to, helping along its retraction a bit to close their distance entirely.

Omi had utilized the little handle-butt as a means of forcefully re-balancing him, allowing those weaving hands to suddenly and most fiercely crash their flaming weaponry into where Takamura's head would be in a monstrous pincer attack, given the two would now be practically chest and chest. A simple "ducking" at this range would not serve to escape the hellish onslaught lashing down at a X-shaped intersection towards the dear swordsman's body - and thanks to how close the two were, that sword would find its uses .. limited, thanks to their posturing.

What did this mean? Takamura's metaphorical 'guard' had been penetrated thanks to a momentary lax in offensive usefulness of the katana, and now he was practically without a method of escape - it was a flaming left pauldron crashing from above and downward, a flaming right pauldron doing the same, a resolute fighter that wouldn't allow Takamura to just shift his way forward now above all times, and a seabed of flame behind him.

Time for retribution.

You Will Never Be A Man
Takamura saw the pauldrons coming down on top of him, sidestepping Takamura instead of trying to draw his katana fully at this point, drew both his katana and his says from his obi to intercept the falling pauldrons.

If he was successful then the attack would have been halted with Takamura only slightly off balance, his back bent to hold the weight of the pauldrons being pushed down on him. That is until it came time for him to counter. With the pauldrons pressing against the says Takamura could easily draw his sword.

While doing so he would sidestep, releasing his hold on the pauldrons and allowing them to drop by his side as he spun around the man to arrive at his back. The natural motion and surprise of the movement would have hopefully caught his opponent off guard, causing the weight of the pauldrons to carry the mans upper body forward causing him to bend double. If this were the case then Takamura would slice downwards at the mans shoulder, hopefully severing the blade using an ability he dubbed Zantetsu, or the ability to cut steel. Takamura prayed it would work as he held his saya ready to block.

Judge Ruling:

Takamura wasn't clear about his positioning running towards Omi, and the whole confusion is based off of this, and the idea that Takamura would be able to move beside/behind Omi without retribution.

I'm going to ask Omi to edit his last reply to Takamura's charge according to this new information. Now knowing that his opponent's movements were going towards his side.

After this, Takamura can change his response.

Rulings are final.

The issue with this, was that the two "katars of flame" were as mentioned earlier, 2' in length. So while the pauldrons may have been stopped, the actual danger- the serpent mass and flames that spawned from them, were not halted. That slight off-balancing would mean the flames furthermore had a little excess range to roam right into dear Takamura's face.

This would undoubtedly change events something fierce - as well as make the swordsman's facial structure take a turn for the dire.

I'm assuming that the flame katars are attached to the pauldrons, therefore by stopping them the Katars are also stopped, Also note that Takamura has the pauldrons stopped at arms length, which, while true the flames would be licking at his face, wouldn't cause much harm.

Provided Takamura only has two arms and withdrew one of them to draw his katana, it is entirely impossible to block both arms bashing downward with one limb/saya (scabbard) without at least minor compromise in distance to the face. This combined with the fact it would be impossible to counter the pauldrons at full arm's length because Takamura already allowed Omi well past his arm's length with that sheath-butt earlier to the gut, makes escaping the 2 foot flames both targeting the Battousai's face a near impossibility to avoid given the circumstances.

Curious it would be, as to how the swordsman planned to progress with two monstrous flames scolding his visage.
