Somewhere slightly outside the village was an abandoned obstetrical course which Azran had taken over for his own use and modified slightly so it contained area's he could use for his sword training and target practice.
He mainly used the place to work on his physical speed, strenght and stamina but today wasn't a usual day as the first phase of the fighting for the ranking exams had only just finished a short while ago and soon enough the second round would soon begin.
He wouldn't have very much time until they did, but he would use it to try and get a little strong then he had been the last day, the last hour, the last minute.
"I thought I had the strength advantage when I was fighting Ayumi, but that was only until she used her bloodline. I'll need to train hard in order to match her. What's the point of of my style if my blows aren't hard." He thought to himself.
"Still I don't need to worry about it for the next match, It's not strenght that's the problem their but speed, I need to be faster. But no matter how much I train I'm not going to get that much in one day, at least not naturally." He thought to himself.
"I need a new jutsu, but unlike with Pyroka the nature of my chakra makes it so throwing lighting blots directly is difficult at best, even thought I can charge things with electricity with out having to use hand seals." he muttered out loud when suddenly he was hit with an idea.
"If I can output electricity, then theoretically I should be able to do the opposite and absorb it as well." He thought, the only question is... what do I do with it once it's absorbed. With that in mind he began toiling hard, painfully using his electric charge jutus on himself in an attempt to develop his new technique.

Hours later Azran was sporting nasty electrical burns along both of his arms as a result of his training but the result was more then worth the damage as his new jutsu was coming along swimmingly.
Well by no means perfected he could now absorb electricity into his body simply by touching it. Thought it didn't necessarily require any hand seals he had found that using them helped making the absorption rate more efficient which was good because he could only suck up so much so fast with before the excess levels harmed him.
He was resistant to the damage of course after years of shocking himself after he had first developed his affinity and learned to control it to produce the electric charge jutsu, but that didn't make him immune to the effects of electricity in high enough voltages even if he could tank being tasered where a normal man would be knocked unconcious or even possibly killed.
The only question now was what to DO with the electrical energy now that he had absorbed it. Their was always the option to throw it back out at the enemy, but since he hadn't learned how to throw lightning directly and wasn't likely to be able to do that in time for the exam it seemed like a wasted effort.
Thinking about how Ayumi used her charka to argument her strength he hit upon insperation. If normal non elemental charka was so effective at that, what would happen if one replaced it with an element. When thinking of lightning two things in particular came to mind, it's percing strenght and it's flashing speed.
"I learned enough in basic medical class that the body runs on electrical impulses. If I could speed them then my body would be able to react and move at incredible speed" He thought to himself.
Closing his eyes he focused the lightning energy to spread out across his body, imaging it fusing into his nervous system and making him faster. A strange tingeling feeling washed over him and he grinned lopsidedly as he felt a change take hold of him, almost like he could literally become a bolt of lightning.
"Right now to to test it out." He thought to himself as he attempted to do a quick dash forward only for everything to blur around him for a split second before he crashed hard into a tree over several yards futher then he had indented to go.
Picking himself out of the tree a moment later with a slight groan of pain Azran laughed to himself when he saw that his body had actually left an impact mark onto the poor thing from sheer momentum. "It... It worked!" He exclaimed to his self in excitement not having expected to get results so quickly.
But the problem was that while it had worked, he had managed to make himself faster then he could control. Continued collisions at that speed would only cause damage to himself making the move less then useful.
"I better wear some weights for now until I can learn to prefect using this.... besides they'd help get my base speed up which wouldn't hurt either." He thought as he went to secure some weights for both his ankles and wrists before resuming his training.

Sitting in the trees, emitting no sounds or even alerting the gennin of his presence was Manndar, watching while eating a ham sandwich.

Returning to the clearing with specialized training weights which could be adjusted to be heaver or lighter with seals strapped to his wrists and ankles Azran felt sure he could be able to use his new jutsu properly this time.
"Alright, super speed take two." He said to himself as he sent a surge of chakra induced electricity into his body then attempted to dash fowards only for the world to blur by him for the briefest of seconds before he impacted brutally into the same tree as before only this time leaving a deeper creater in it due to the added weight.
"Damn it all." He complained as he picked himself out of the tree once more. "The weights didn't seem to have any effect." He muttered as he got up walked back to his starting position and tried again only to crash once more.
"Urg, I won't give up that easily. I will find a way to make this jutsu work." He vowed to himself as he picked himself up, his head bleeding slightly from the multipul impact and went to work intently training in an attempt to try to control his speed despite crashing each and every time he used this new power.

Manndar "happened" to be passing by when he saw Newb Boy in the clearing running into random trees.
"What in the hell are you doing?" Manndar asked with a healthy laugh. "If you want brain damage so badly, you could've asked around. Eventually someone would have directed you to me."

As Azran crashed into yet another tree he heard someone asking him in blazes he was doing. Picking himself out of the tree he turned and regarded the stranger. "Nothing special really. Just trying to train myself so that I'll be able to use my new speed jutus. Blasted thing works a little too well so it's hard to control." He admitted
"Brain damage?" He asked after he heard the mans second statement. "Heh, it'll take more then a few misealy trees to give me that." He laughed. "The names Azran, and you are?" He asked

"I'm Manndar, Manndar Gorlok." Manndar said with a wide grin. "...... So, what exactly is the problem with this jutsu of yours?"

"Manndar..." Azran parioted in shock his eyes going wide. "I...I've heard of you before in basic combat training. You're said to be a super duper tough elite taijutsu user!" He exclaimed perhaps exaggerating what he had heard even if only slightly.
But their would be time for gushing later because when it came to working on his jutsu Azran was all business. "The problem is that when I use it I'm moving faster then I can react or control causing me ta crash into stuff. I guess I simply don't have the experience ta be able ta use it right." He explained.

Manndar laughed at the thought of the basic training classes knowing him as a "super duper tough elite taijutsu user," but he too was acting seriously at this moment.
"High speed movement itself is a very difficult task. The most basic in this move set is the very effective 'run straight forward and commit to an attack' strategy. Actual changes in movement takes a lot of practice and stopping is even harder...... But a quick reaction time is a very important factor in moving fast since eyesight isn't as effective when you're traveling fast."
"I can help with your reaction time." Manndar said with a grin as he jumped backwards and threw a kunai at NB (Newb Boy)'s head. "Dodge!"

"If it was just moving in a straight line I wanted Shunshin no jutsu would more then suffice but that'd be too darn predictable and predictability means death" Commented Azran dryly.
He grinned as Manndar jumped back and hurled a kunai towards him easily side stepping just far enough so that he was out of the way several seconds before the knife could reach him and hearing it pass by with a soft woosh.
"Is that all? My grandma can throw better then that!" Azran exclaimed. For all of his brains his youthful impulsiveness could sometimes get the better of him and he was sure to regret those words very shortly.

As soon as Manndar landed, he was off leaving a "whoosh" and a dust cloud. The dust cloud abruptly stopped in front of Azran where Manndar was now coming up for a Shoryuken.
"Never underestimate a straight line!"

Their was no time to move, no time to think as appruptly Manndar appeared before Azran in a cloud of dust. Their was barely even time to simply react on instinct as he crossed his arms using the weights on his wrists as a shield as Manndar's dragon fist upper cut drove into him hard sending him flying into the air with a loud twack sound.
"Arg, I.... I felt that more then running into the trees!" thought Azran with a grimace as he sailed through the air preforming a quick back flip to negate his momentum as he shakingly landed on his feet almost but not quite falling to his knees.
"One straight line... is fine." He manged to rasp out as he caught his breath. "It's successive ones that's the problem. Even I could counter that if you tried it a second time in a row" he said as he clutched a shock tag he had secretly palmed during his flip in his right hand ready to demonstrate said counter if necessary.

"Ok then." Manndar said as he ran forward causing another cloud of dust. This time instead of a shoryuken, Manndar just went for a straight punch to the gut.

Even as the dust cloud abruptly came to a stop just before him, Azran let go of the shock tag so that it was between him and Manndar as it ignited less then a split second later unleashing torrents of electricity in a 360 degree radius at basically point blank range.
If the stun tag Azran had used on Ayumi was the equivalent of being hit by a tazer, then the more lethal shock tag variant would be like being hit by a proverbial bolt of lightning. Some might say he was taking an awfully big risk using this weapon against a fellow Gaioh nin in a training session but Azran wasn't worried for a couple of reasons.
One was that Manndar was supposed to be incredibly tough, even by ninja standards. Considering that a stun tag had failed to 100 percent stop Ayumi from hitting him, he doubted that the more experienced jounin he was facing would even be phased by the lesser version.
And more importantly he himself was absorbing at least some of the energy which meant that was that much less that would potentially hit Manndar assuming it even managed to hit him in the first place.
As Manndar's fist flew towards Azran's gut, the faster bolts of electricity made it to him first sending a wave of pain washing over him. But it was a pain he had long been formiluary with, a pain he welcomed as he sucked in the power he was being hit with and captured it turning it around so that instead of hurting him it became useful.
Azran only had time to absorb energy for a split second as Manndar's fist blurred at insane speeds towards him. But instead of hitting Azran it simpled passed through an after image of him as the real Azran had kicked off the ground with his feet sending him flying backwards at lightning speeds.
For one frozen moment in time Azran had become one with the lightning that he commanded and the world seemed to come to a stop around him. Acting on instinct more then anything else he launched two chained prongs from his clawshot. One from his pinky finger and the other from his index so that together they formed a wide V.
As soon as it started the moment ended causing the world to pass by in a blur as Azran came to within a millimeter of crashing into yet another tree before his chains where pulled taunt stopping him in his tracks before snapping him forward like a rubber band sending his flying towards Manndar at high speed in an attempt to crash into him with a momentum fueled body slam.

Manndar had felt the familiar, yet weak surge of electricity surging through his body.
"Ugh! If there is one thing I don't like, its lightning!" Manndar thought as punching through the electricity reminded him of an attack that had him hospitalized for a long time. He never did get that guy back for it.
Manndar couldn't help but smile as the punch had missed and he felt a shockin. "What a shock." Manndar said as he lost sight of Azran.
Manndar could've done a number of things: replacement jutsu, hammer swing, chakra cannon, boot to the fast flying head. But he had a better plan in mind. Manndar had a good guess where Azran was coming from because of 1. The metal cords, 2. The fact that Azran wasn't as fast as his initial speed, 3. Manndar had fought faster in his day.
So, Manndar braced for impact, lunged his body forward, and drove an elbow into the fast travling opponent. The opponent's attack had pleased Manndar. The way it came in showed the attacker was fully committed, and now it was a fast flying body slam about to crash into a firmly planted Manndar with an elbow in between the two of them.
