I've read a lot about it and I have to say, none of it told me exactly how it was done.

I really want to get into this, as well as berserking. Anyone know anything about how these things are done?

It's basically a deep trance induced through movement and music. You dance in whatever way is comfortable for you. For many it's belly dancing at a drum circle or hey most ravers experience this while dancing at raves. You can use it in ritual or just randomly in your room. It's hard at first but you'll get better with time. I find it's most powerful in middle of ritual, you are already in that mind-set.

*make SURE you will NOT be disturbed!* it is dangerous to do cause you are open to possession and if someone tries to yank you out of trance before you come out of it on your own then you could be very sick or even death (in extreme cases).

Thank you very much, I've read the rave thing before when I was trying to understand Techno Paganism. ;3

However, I get how it's done. But I want to know how to do it or tips or.. anything about that will help me. The Deity I'm working with loves dancing and a long time ago his worshippers basically trance danced, which many still do. I want to add this to my rituals for him because I want to consider myself and work hard for a title that many of his worshippers have.

But I did watch a video on eHow.com that showed me a way of Trance Dance. It involved Bandannas and strange inhaling called the "Fire breathing".. or something like that..

Lol, Has that confused you yet?

Anyways, I've also heard of these dangers you speak of when someone trys to force you out of a possession. But why would death be a result of that or sickness?

Also, do you Trance Dance? : D

It's a whiplash effect from your soul being in astal when the body becomes conscious. Can be anything from a headache to uncontrollable crying to coma or death. Why yes I do lol

and as far as how.... it's really personal. Some can go out and start doing it with something as simple as a sound others need more, just like any astral work. For me it's a type of sub hit or drum beat or a chant I hear, add a movement to that and I'm gone lol. I have many different drumming and chanting cd's, plus some pagan music that works as well, and (the old trusty fall back) hardcore/DnB lol. Just work with different music and different moves to see which one works to get you in the zone. Some music will get you to a trance, others may get you into astral (the ultimate goal of transcendental dance). Done in the middle of ritual it's going to be easier than sporadically, due to the fact you are already in a ritual mind-set.

Guess it was easy for me to pick up cause I was an overall artist through out my life. Any form of expression is my life. I was a musician for many years, artist, dancer, performer, I've touched most of it lol. The combination of music and dance have always been a passion of mine ^-^

I'd never known what it was called until maybe a few months ago. I'd been doing it for years, apparently.

I usually just have a drink or two to get loosened up on a dance floor at a club with some heavy techno, and I'll dance until I lapse into astral without completely realizing I have.

I don't always drink to loosen up. Just depends on what mood I'm in when I hit up the clubs.

Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and a half later, I'm back in my body, in the club, and I'm sobered up completely. Then I just drink, laugh, and dance for the hell of it.

I'm an Artist as well, Kashaku-Tatsu. And I adore music, dancing, anything that I can squeeze creativity in to. ;D So, I know what you mean. I actually have a few peices of art on Gaia floating around here.

Thank for the warning, I will remember that when I try Trance dancinf for the first time after I get over this damned cold. D:< If I try any sort of breathing process as of now, I know I'm bound to choke on a throat full of mucus. T.T It makes me sad.

I like the really deep beats and heavy bass that send shivers down my spine, So I believe I'll work with that first. Also, I loved the music from Pendulum on your profile, Kashaku-Tatsu.

Thank you for your advice, it will come in handy.

Simim, I understand that too. I was at a concert and head banged for the first time for the sake of the moment. I almost fell into a trace.. If the very shitty music didn't shriek me awake everytime I got close.

Everything was in slow motion and sound muffled, it was bliss while it lasted. How does it feel for you, Simim? Unless you don't feel comfortable talking about it.

And, To the both of you, What music do you find more suitable for Trance? Techno, Metal, Tribal, etc?

Sometimes tribal but not often, the right kind of techno will do it, or pagan metal like Black Dragon in my sig. It's more the sound I'm looking for not the type of music. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's like the right cord progression or sequence of bass beats.

I understand where you're coming from.

As an update;

I tried it for 15 min. today after school and couldn't stand for a few seconds afterwards. It was like I was dizzy, But not. You know?

It was great.

Well, it feels like I'm in astral. Depending on where I'm at in it, I can see the club moving and bouncing with all its energies, or I may be in another place entirely. One time I held my head back and it felt like I was falling out of my body(but apparently I kept dancing) and I flew out from downtown and into a nearby graveyard.

Later I confirmed that I'd actually been there; I remembered a particular grave or two when I visited it in physical.

A lot of times though, I just feel... right. (Controversial "crazy" beliefs start here) I believe I'm nothing more than an energy being inside this body anyway; being able to feel the energy and feed off it around me is natural, although I can't always just pop out and do it.

If it has a beat and a melody, I've tranced to anything from 80's synthpop to industrial to techno to metal to tribal. I've tranced to Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo, and I've tranced to Voodoo by Godsmack, and K.I.N.G. by Satyricon and so on.

It helps that I already like the music to get me dancing, but sometimes a certain chord will strike me and just send me into astral. It's a hit or miss; sometimes I just can't get there even with songs that have worked for me in the past.
