The Enemies ** [Now that you're at the Cheshreer Desert, you look around, wondering what to expect. Reaching into your pocket, you pull out a scroll that Julius had given you upon your departure, unrolling it and seeing what it holds. Inside is a letter from Julius, along with a hand-drawn illustration of the Killer Wasps you're going to be fighting.]Bartender Julius: Heya! Julius here! I thought I'd help you out a little by explaining what exactly you're going to be facing out in that bad old desert. I haven't exactly faced off against those bugs myself, but I've heard enough stories from people who have to tell you what to expect. The illustration below - though in black and white - is one of the Killer Wasps that guard the honey. Careful though. They're vibrantly colored, and they're really BIG. Bartender Julius: So yeah, these Killer Wasps love the hot weather of the desert, but because Gryphons are so territorial, they've stopped the insects for spreading into the deeper parts of the desert. The Gryphons have an advantage over the Killer Wasps because their thick feathers stop the stinger from penetrating. You better hope you have a couple with you. Some Barrier spells also work, I've heard. Killer Wasp Stats
Strength: Agility, Numbers
Weakness: Strength, Fire
Habits: Creates huge hives out of sand and molded clay, gather in swarms

 Kirata Kirata floated on the warm desert air, wings spread to their fullest. She glided along lazily, watching the ground. For once, the gray gryphon wasn't searching for something shiny. Well, not specifically. She was still keeping an eye out for anything that sparkled. But no, today she was watching for travelers. The gryphons had been asked to guide some travelers to the hives of the Killer Wasps. Kirata had jumped at the chance, volunteering. To her, it meant a chance to search new places for unusual sparkly objects. Also, she was an Iron gryphon so it made sense to send her on a mission like this. But that didn't matter to her. The gray gryphon was simply hoping to get a unique piece for her collection. The end result was Kirata gliding over the desert, waiting. Watching and waiting. Iron Gryphon

Shut up – I’ll bust you up. True, there was supposed to be no NPC Guide, but then again the poor creature didn't think himself worthy of being a guide.
Lazily, he plodded along, not even bothering to fly. It would attract unwanted attention from any Gryphons in the sky, he thought.
Bella pouted, burrowing deeper into the shade on his neck.
"Mizo, why on earth are we coming out here?" She asked, her voice considerably high-pitched, but not whiny yet. "Are you TRYING to get us killed?"
"Relax, Bella," he replied quietly, as if speaking too loud would alert the entire desert to his presence. "Please. We'll be fine."
Pouting and scowling and sulking, she curled up into a ball on his shoulder and looked around at the endless desert. They were nearing the rendezvous point now.
Hopefully there would be no gryphons on the job that would recognize him.  Shut up, shut up.
Shut up – I’LL BUST YOU UP! You don’t realize you’re what I despise-

Kirata Kirata flapped her wings lazily, circling around. She sighed, still watching. Nothing so far. No sparkles and no travelers. Wait, scratch that as she caught sight of something from the corner of her eye. There were travelers! And they were heading in the right direction, too! The Gryphon banked and turned, angling towards the new people. She set her wings in an easy glide, her shadow passing over them. Kirata was startled to see that it was a Gryphon, but it was rather odd coloring. Her lazy glide finally ended in small run in the desert sands as she slowed then stopped. Kirata turned back towards the other Gryphon, folding her wings as she did so. Iron Gryphon

Shut up – I’ll bust you up. Mizoto jumped a little, flapping his wings in surprise.
"Bella!" He whispered frantically, making the fae-cat raise her head from her fur in blink in confusion. "It's another Gryphon, Bella! Quick, the spell-!"
"She's already seen you, Mizo," the fairy breathed in return, watching Kirata. "It would be pointless."
Pouting as best a Gryphon could, Mizoto shook his head, making his entire neck rustle with the movement, and bucked it upwards in discontent, his entire aura scowling. Bella rolled her eyes.
"Oh hush," she breathed softly in his ear before looking up at Kirata again. "She's coming in for a land."
Mizoto tossed his head again in unhappiness. SO not what he was planning.
But then again, why wouldn't there by other Gryphons helping out with this task? He hadn't thought it through very well.
Sulking a little and switching from foot to foot almost restlessly, Mizoto waited for the other Gryphon to land. Shut up, shut up.

Kirata Kirata padded across the sand, unconcerned about the warmth it radiated. Rather, she found it kind of nice. She looked at Mizoto curiously, wondering why he looked so upset. "Are you here to help with the honey crew?" She asked once she was close enough. The Gryphon hadn't noticed little Bella yet, more focused on Mizoto. Was he going to help with the honey gathering? Kirata hadn't really expected many, if any, other Gryphons to show. Iron Gryphon

Kirata Kirata sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws. "Not yet. They'll show up eventually." She shrugged, her wings shifting with the motion. "It was getting boring just sitting around so I thought I'd take a look around. See if there was anything interesting. Besides, from the air, I can see approaching people from farther away." Shut up – I’ll bust you up. Mizoto tossed his head again restlessly, unable to decide whether he regretted coming back to the desert or not. Bella whined softly at him, silently telling him that his constant shifting was getting on her nerves.
"Yes, that's true..." he murmured, listening to Bella's wordless complaint and forcing himself to go still, though his tail swished restlessly from side to side.
Well, she doesn't seem to know me... that's good...
If it was one thing Mizoto hated, it was leaving an impression.
Shifting a little, he heard Bella begin to whine again but then she stopped when she realized he was merely settling down into the sand, the heat comforting and familiar to him. Digging his claws into the golden sands, he snorted a little and got comfortable, his ears pricked for any rustling of nearby sand.
Were they the only ones that were going to show up?Shut up, shut up.

Kirata Kirata looked around, watching for any newcomers. "Anyways, I'm-" She broke off suddenly. A sparkle had caught her attention and she leaped to her paws. The Gryphon galloped away from Mizoto intent on finding the source of the sparkle. She skidded to a stop and began brushing the sand away. Kirata chirped happily, the crystal rock lying uncovered at her paws. Using her claws, she flipped it over and rolled it around, examining it from all sides. Already this trip was becoming fruitful. The rock was a simple one, but it seemed to be made of a pale crystal. The crystal had caught the light and returned it, catching Kirata's attention. Iron Gryphon

Shut up – I’ll bust you up. Mizoto blinked as Bella yelped in surprise at the sudden movement and toppled from his shoulder, catching herself just before she hit the burning sand.
Scowling and pouting and sulking with ears back and tail lashing, she hovered upwards to linger near Mizoto's beak, still in the shade of his head.
"What on earth was THAT?" She whined in her high-pitched voice. "Nearly made me drop into that awful hot sand! I would've been sizzled!"Shut up, shut up.

Kirata Kirata trotted back to Mizoto, the rock held firmly in her beak. Stopping where she had been originally sitting, the Gryphon dropped the stone and curled one paw around it protectively. "Sorry about that." She muttered sheepishly. "I like shiny things." Her paw uncurled just long enough for Mizoto to see the crystal rock she held. Then Kirata noticed Bella hovering beside Mizoto's beak. She stared for a moment, then remembered her manners with a shake of her head. "As I was saying, I'm Kirata." Iron Gryphon

"Mizoto," he replied softly. He motioned to the fairy beside him. "And that's Bella."
Bella glanced between the two Gryphons before her gaze settled on Kirata. Then she scowled, and looked away with a little huff, settling down on Mizoto's fur to bury herself in the strands. Shut up, shut up.

Kirata "Nice to meet you." Kirata inclined her head in greeting. She settled down in the warm sand. Now that she was comfortable, the Gryphon turned her attention to her prize, examining it more thoroughly. She rolled it back and forth between her paws, watching as it reflected the light. To Kirata, it was a rather nice little piece. The pale crystal was simple but still in the rough. It had spars jutting out in all directions so no matter how it was moved it caught the light. A pleased purr began as she played with the crystal. Iron Gryphon
