Preface

The towering steady beat of the dance floor.
The florescent lights darting in a seconds glance.
I looked to my right at the human flesh sitting beside me.
It was enough to drive me insane. Everything around me seemed to move faster then I was. Propelling in to the unknown.
Droning out all the annoying buzzes including the chattering female sitting inches away from me I tried to retreat to my own solitude. Her skin was flushed from the alcohol. I could almost feel the heat of her body on me.
“So, Ky,” said the intoxicated girl. “What are you doing in place like this?” She made a sloppy attempt to come on to me.
But before I could answer I heard her voice.
It tuned out everything around me.
The music. The lights. The static charge of heartbeats.
Her voice.
One I would hear from a thousand miles away. Calling me. She was in danger. I stood out of instinct.
The girl clinged to me. "Where you going babe?"
Brushing her off I went through the curtain.
KY!
His scent. He was behind it.
I was too late was my first thought. They were gone. Why did this happen so fast? Right under my nose, so to speak?
"Sorry mate." He placed his hand on my shoulder. Such a human gesture for comforting.
"Aeron...Where's Kate?"
I knew what had happen. Who she was. Did he?
"That vampire just took her. Are you two related by any chance?" His fingers pointed back and forth as he stated amusingly. "I was doing a double take for a second."
Staggering for a bit I took the blonde vamp by the collar of his shirt and dragged him in to the curtain area.
"Order the girl out of here!" I pointed at the human who was getting startled but the sudden outburst.
"Um...Jess," he didn't have to stare at her to tell her. She knew danger by instinct.
I had no time to spare. Seconds were ticking by. She was being pulled farther and farther from me as the clock hand stock.
"Where did he take her?"
He shook his head. "I...I don't know." I watched his hand go over his mouth.
"Are you not working for him then?"
"Okay, seriously," he began. "I didn't know he was going to grab her away like that. All he told me was to separate you two. So...don't do anything rash."
I stared at him hard. His expression wasn't betraying him. He was very sincere. Was he frighten of me?
"Why did you do it?"
"Well, you see..." he slide down in to the arm chair. "It was either that, or he threaten to kill me. And as a vampire, you should know what it takes to kill another one of us."
"That I do."
"I'm not as old as you and your brother. Really, most of my vampire tricks don't work on you. Or Kain for that matter."
Like the compulsion? I almost wanted to say it, but he knew I was full aware of that trick. Kate was easily swayed by it. I told her to be careful, but since she lack so much experience and years, there was no way she could withstand someone her senior. Which was why Kain could easily...
Racing out of the club, I didn't care if anyone saw me, I reached my car in under a second. My keys just about to lite the ingnition when I heard the tap at my window.
The blonde vampire.
"What do you want?" I didn't bother with pulling the window down.
"Can..I come? I think you can use a second hand."
"No."
Starting the engine I pulled it into reverse.
"I know where they might be going," said Aeron under his breath smiling. I put my foot on the brake. He was teasing me. Apparently staying idle enough gave him invitation to get in to my car.
"What about your Honda?"
"Oh, not really mine. Which reminds..." He took the keys out. "I think Jessica wants her keys back." He disappeared for a second before returning empty handed. "She'll find them," was all he had to say.
"So where do you think he's taking her?"
"Oh right!" Like he forgot he said that. "Let me think..."
"You don't know." I threw the car in drive and found the highway. Now, not only am I chasing my brother down to get back my vampire partner, I had picked up an incompetent one.
"I did see some plane tickets, if that helps," Aeron said after a long moment of silence.
"Plane tickets?" Overseas...That was the only explanation. I had never heard of my kind taking any kind of commercial travel so except if they were crossing water. Either way, some liked to swim, but with the sun it proved quite dangerous at time. "Did you see where they were to?"
"Somewhere in Europe, can't remember the name."
Was he taking her to Italy? Home...
"Ky?" I must had dazed out. The fledgling was staring intently at me. I accelerated the car to clear my mind and focused back on the road. "So, I take it then since you are acting so serious, that Kate is your vampire mate?"
"That's none of your business."
"Sure to light a fire under your butt though," he chuckled abit. "I mean, I never really seen anyone act so furious. I was sure you were going to snap my neck back there."
I should have. I kept that to myself.
"She is kind of cute," Aeron took out flip phone with a miniature keyboard on it and started to type away on it. "I admit, I can see why you two are even..."
"Your cellphone."
"Like it? It's a sidekick."
"No, not that! Kate, she has a cellphone."
"Do you have her number?" Her number. I rummage for the device I had with only one number in it. Kate's number. I handed it to him. He had a much better handle of this contraptions then I did. He went through it and extracted the number in under seconds. "I'll text her, or do you want me to call her?"
Texting...all I know was that it was like email through the phone. More discreet then calling.
"Don't call. He'll be right next to her."
"Yeah, of course. But did you ever thought that he might had confiscated her cell phone and reply back on her text to act as her?"
I pondered for a moment. He wouldn't be that callous, would he?
"Just try texting her first." Aeron could be right though. I would wait for the response though. "Use your phone." I added. If it was in Kain's hands, I didn't want him to see who was texting her. If my name popped up on the screen, he would know for sure and take it as an invitation to play with me.
At least with Aeron, I can hide behind. I smiled lightly. I wondered if Kain knew that Aeron would stick by like this.
But I wasn't ready to trust this vampire completely yet. I knew Aeron was scared and why he acted.
Yet I can almost thank my brother for the gift. Even if it was unintentional.
"I take if by your accent that your..."
"British?" He finished the sentence for me. "Um, close...parents were welsh."
"I see. And was everything you told Kate earlier true?"
His eyes fell off his phone as he looked at me. "So you heard all that? I'm surprise you didn't come in when you did."
"Well, I wasn't really..."
"I know what you mean. The blood took a while to digest. FYI, you shouldn't go out long without food source. I don't care how old you are, plus what I can tell someone nearly drained you."
He was perceptive. Almost.
"Your brother is really out to get you. And now he took your girlfriend."
"She is not my girlfriend."
"Then why are you chasing after her?" Aeron smiled.
I don't know why I was denying the fact. It was obvious that there was something more going on between Katherine and me. Besides the fact, I refuse to let Kain have her. Even if he made her, it gave him no right.
Jealously.
Was I feeling jealous? The emotion was still foreign to me.
"Why did you have to tell her?"
"Tell her what?"
"About the whole maker ownership?"
"Oh, just something to preoccupy her. It's not like its true..."
No, it wasn't to my understanding. That and my maker was dead not long after my change.
Lilium...If it was true, she could have had both my brother and me. But she only wanted one.
"Never met yours did you?"
"No." I figured as much. He acted as wild as ever. Someone had cut him off his leash too.
A popular pop song then broke the tension in the air. I watched as Aeron flipped his 'sidekick' open. "Hey, I got a reply!"

Vampire Dreams 2

Chapter 1

“Are we there yet?”
“No.”
Two minutes passed by.
“Are we there now?”
“No.”
Half a second...
“How about now?”
“For the last time, No! Are you this difficult when you are with my brother?” The frustration in his voice was clearly evident now. He knew she was just pushing his patience and she was driving him near that edge where he would toss her out of this vehicle going eighty down the freeway.
But if he did that, he knew she would win.
To let the fledgling boss its maker around? How unspeakable.
It was something Kain didn't want to put up with. But he had never dealt with this before. Kate was the first and only human he had changed.
If he had killed her instead that night would he had cared?
Probably not. But it was unexpected that she would have gotten away. Kain knew that he could have gone after her so easily and ended it then and there but he didn't. He wanted to see what happen.
Kyrus was not factored in though.
For her to be so determined to come after me only to meet my brother was not something I had planned for. And to make matters worst, she almost seems smitten with him.
That was yet to be determined.
To get her to admit that she was in love with Kyrus was not on the agenda but he wanted to know.
Something to give him a new reason to finish him off for good.
But it lingered there, despicably wanting to know the truth.
“Do you love my brother?”
Her lips parted in a sort of tension.“What does it matter to you?” The vampire who changed me, I will never belong to you.
“It does matter to me.” He took his eyes off the road to gaze at her. In the darkness it didn't matter what laid ahead of them. “Kate...”
“You changed me against my will.”
“I gave you a gift.”
“You were going to kill me anyways.”
“But you always wanted to be a vampire.”
“Not like this!” She raised her voice at him in defiance. “I would rather had Ky changed me then you.”
Kain's head snapped back to the road. Her harsh words were enough to silence him.
Yet he knew he couldn't deny the fact that he was going to kill her, but he knew if he was that determined in that course of action he would have finished the job long ago.
It was the concert.
When he gazed at her in the front row, he knew he was right.
She was different then all the rest. A true creature of the night. His only soul mate after his quiet rejection from Lilium.
“What lies has my brother poisoned you with?”
“Lies?” She scoffed at him. Before she could continue she saw a light in her purse go off. My phone! I forgot it was on silent. She sighed before turning back on Kain. “What do you mean?”
Keeping him talking was the only distraction she figured she could do. She could multitask till he figures out that he forgot to confiscate her phone. Though knowing Kyrus, who didn't have a cell phone up until last night, she wouldn't be surprise if Kain though the same way.
Sliding the phone to the crevice between the seat and the door she was able to keep her head forward and glance down at it.

KATE THIS IS AERON I HAVE KY WITH ME U ALRIGHT????

I see. This is Aeron's phone. So he was on our side? She wrote a reply quickly.

IM FINE, I DONT KNOW WHERE HE IS TAKING ME!!!! - KATE

“My brother most likely told you our little sob story, didn't he?”
“Yes...” She looked at him. “He told me everything about Lilium, and how you two used to live in Italy.”
“So he did mention Lilium?” His reaction sounded surprise and amused at the same time.
“He did.” Kate did not know where he was getting with this but she knew she couldn't trust him. There was nothing he can say to her to change her mind. “You loved her?”
“Well apparently not as much as my brother did, now did I?” he mused lightly upon himself.
“Are you mad that she choose him?” ask Kate trying to feel the sentiment.
“Choose him? Dear, she wouldn't have had it.”
“What do you mean?” Aeron had already responded again.

Europe!? I barely been out of Arizona up till last week! She put that behind waiting for Kain's next response.
“How would you feel knowing that your brother betrayed you over a woman? Well tell me Kate.”
Startled by his probing of an answer she went with the first reasonable response.
“I would feel rather upset and sadden that he could do such a thing.”
“Yes, and I was very upset. So upset that I nearly would have killed both of them. But I just...couldn't.”
“But that was no excuse to...”
“And then he does it again with you.”
“Me? Hey, I found him!”
“Kate, don't be stupid. He was tracking me. He saw you in the nightclub and followed you to Vegas.”
“What?” He was curious right? I mean, there aren't a lot of vampires around. How often do you see one walking down the streets? Don't listen to him! He's just trying to tear you apart!
“He was just trying to use you to kill me.”
“That's not true. He would never!” She raised half way out of her seat ready to pounce on him.
“I'm not denying he loves you,” he replied sharply. “But don't think it was only love that got you this far.”
Kate's jaw opened trying to form some words to throw back at him but to no avail.
The bus ride conversation, the issue with the skirt. She thought glooming over it. Not until after the concert did she really feel like he loved her.
Even then, who said he was not in love with Lilium still?
She sat back in her seat crossing her arms. He was just trying to manipulate you, Kate!

HURRY UP! I CANT STAND HIM ANYMORE!!! I <3 U KY!!! - KATE

She pressed 'send' on her cell phone. There was no way they were going to catch up in time. She knew it already. She was stuck with Mister 'mean and nasty' for awhile now and now Kyrus has to put up with Mister Blondy.
Seconds went by without her ripping his head off.
It was almost time she wanted to take action in to her own hands.
