Personally I was really satisfied with the new movie! I thought it was way better than the 3rd, 4th and 5th because it was well balanced when it comes to action, humor and storyline. I know it was sort of a 'wtf'-moment when *spoiler* our potions professor revealed himself as the half-blood prince at the very end of the movie. But I respect why they made that choice. Otherwise people who are unfamiliar with the books would still have no clue who the half-blood prince was (even now they still don't understand why he was the half-blood prince so maybe there wasn't enough attention placed on the subject after all). I was afraid there would be too much love-love in the movie but thank goodness there was enough room for other scenes. biggrin

Spoiler alert for pretty much my whole post... read at your own risk.
Um.... in the book, JKR revealed that Snape was the HBP in the same way. The movie was true to the book in that respect. The only thing they didn't do was explain why he was the half blood prince... because of his mother's name and blah blah blah.
I actually found this movie tolerable. The 3rd-5th made me want to gouge out my eyes out with a spoon. In this one, Dumbledore wasn't an angry freak who acted way too dramatic and Draco was FANTASTIC. I was able to accept many more of the liberties that they took, such as destroying the burrow. Also, the death scene was fairly well done, I thought. Though, it doesn't make much sense that Harry stood there and watched it happen without doing anything. That is completely against his character.
ANYWAY I have ranted about this a lot in other places, but strangely enough I actually liked this movie.

They added this scene in the movie because the moviemakers thought the storyline needed more action and I totally agree with them, because when I was thinking back about the book I remembered nothing happening until the very end. The story needed a little push. Indeed it's sort of sad that it was destroyed, but it's not really a disaster. In the book it was revealed half-way that Professor Snape was the half-blood prince. He immediately requested his book back at the moment Draco was attacked (at least that's what I remember happened?). I also heard someone mentioning that Harry would never allow the Deatheaters to kill Dumbledore. In the book he was paralyzed? In the movie Snape just motioned to him to stay quiet and he did so.. OH and I loved the scene where Lupin told Harry that he was blinded by hatred heart (that was like the only part where he spoke in the entire movie.. but all he said was good). And does everyone remember the scene where Ron was in the hospital and Dumbledore + Snape + another teacher were visiting and they were just... standing there! Like decoration, while Rons girlfriend was saying ronnieponnie. rofl I still don't understand why they didn't just walk away.

The first time I saw it, I felt bad for the Weasleys. The second time... Well, let's just say I was laughing so hard that everyone in my row shot me a horrified glance.

Late again stare I can happily tell you that I'm quite please with the movie as far as staying true to the book goes. *SPOILER* BUT, however, I wasn't sure about the Weasly's home. Were will the wedding be now? Though I did enjoy Bellatrix's extra screen time heart

On the whole I did like the movie. I always try to watch any movie based on a book I've already read as though I don't already know the story or else I know I will be dissapointed by something.
There were a few things that bothered me though. Although I thought the love based Ron scenes were very funny it dissapointed me that there were so many of them and so few memories. I thought there was a little too much attention paid to them when it should have been on other aspects of the story.
As much as I love Helena B Carter's Bellatrix, she is completely fabulous and I love her. But, I was dissapointed that she had more screen time and importance in the movie then Snape did. Hello, this was his movie and he had like 5 lines. He got cheated in my oppinion.
The end seemed rushed to me. The movie was long and it just gave me the impression that they saw that and hurried to do the death scene and then add in a distruction seen so Bella could have more camera time (which reallly wasn't needed) and then had Snape just drop the bomb that he's the half-blood prince (like it wasn't important) and the movies done.
I agree with Homicide about the burrow. She brought up a lot of the problems that I had with it but I also wonder how they are going to start the 7th movie now. All the action in the book started at the borrow, plus it was where the minister gave them Dumbledore's inheritance. Those three items are pretty important to the whole story line to I'm curious as to how they will present that scene now.
There were a lot of things that I did like though. Tom Felton for instance. I swear if I didn't love his Draco preformance before I really do now. The boy was awsome and I wish they had given him more scenes cause in my oppinion he really stole the movie. Rupert was hilarious. And I absolutely loved drunk Harry during the scenes after he took the luck potion. I laughed so hard and him doing the pincers while Hagrid cried over the spider.

I thought that HBP was one of the best Potter films thus far. There was a lot AGAIN that they left out and a lot of new crap that they shouldn't put in.
They should have had more Snape in it, of course it's HIS movie and I know that next two movies he won't get much time. Can't blame Alan for it though, it's the stupid writers.
Alan was so hot at the end of the movie. I just wish that they could have done better with there time frame, they just keep thinking that EVERYONE wants to see the love between the kids but I don't care. I want the FACTS!!!

I loved it, though I was disappointed that they cut the tower battle short, and that they cut the "DON'T CALL ME COWARD!" line.
Really, that was one of my better defining moments. stare

xXTwilight_AddictXx I have to say tht I LOVED this movie a whole lot more than the past Harry Potter films. Alan Rickman was increadable! I loved how they included Snape in the movie a lot more thn the previous films. hour and a half long movie, and Snape had what, five, six, seven lines if were lucky... still, it was a good movie. *evil smile* Dumbledore's death was the best though. The senile old man couldn't do nothing, his best line in the entire series was when he WASN"T TALKING and even though *REALLY BAD SPOILER* Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him, it was almost like a tribute to just how deadly Snape can be-and how loyal, as well. My salute to you, J.K Rowling, for killing Dumbledore.

I really liked it, though all of my friends hated it. They did cut a lot out from the actual books... but it was still a great movie in my opinion. smile
