You're a first really. Most people I know like him better than Sora. (My brother was the first person I knew to speculate that 'Roxas' was the scrambled form of 'Sora X')

I think it's mostly because how much I hated doing the first part of 2, and how many times I've had to do it.
So the whole time i'm just like "BAAAAHHH"

Yeah, I fall into the "Roxas is better than Sora camp", mostly because I find relentlessly cheerful characters irritating. xD
But I totally know what you mean about starting a game so many times that you grow to hate the beginning, and KH2 had an excruciating beginning scenario to begin with.
KH and I had been arguing since CoM but we formally broke up after KH2.

See KH and I get along rather well. Yeah, I remember replaying the beginning sequence of KH2 being a drag, but the rest of the game made it worth it? And its funny that I have a friend who was really into the first game but couldn't finish KH2 because it was too dark for her LOL
I do want to get Days though. For a Square/Disney collaboration, they've been telling an excellent story imo.

Bahamut Yojimbo I have a friend who was really into the first game but couldn't finish KH2 because it was too dark for her LOL This is my problem with the series now-- it doesn't know what it wants to be anymore. I finished KH2 and it was worth it for the experience of the boss battles and the wonderful graphics and voice acting, but I'm not interested in the series any longer. I can't take the simplistic morality of Disney characters AND a deeply philosophical storyline about the nature of the human soul in the same game. Having morally ambiguous characters like Axel, who are simultaneously sympathetic and disturbing, creates suspicion about Sora's treasured light/dark dichotomy, which... well, it's a bad idea to impugn the morality of your preteen protagonist and yet continue to craft the game's events around same. KH2 was for me like buying, say, Elmo's Letter Adventure and finding cognitive dissonance in the methods of Elmo's letter collecting. lolz KH2 tries to talk about too many different things, but can't seem to get the hang of doing so coherently.

But see, in a way, that's the beauty of it all. Even Nomura-san said that he wanted to create enough of a story that leaves room for speculation. People can choose to take it at face value, which really isn't hard to do...or if they want to get philosophical they can investigate it further, which also has its own rewards. In a way, it's a complete jack-of-all-trades kind of game as far as its interpretation goes. And I guess I can appreciate that because that fits my personality pretty well sweatdrop

I tend to think that Nomura will say that things are open to interpretation just to excuse the shounen-manga-esque inconsistency of his storylines and characters. xD
For instance, Axel's character in CoM-- a sadistic, amoral and manipulative villain, who feels even more reprehensible than the "real" antagonists at times-- is great, but he's completely different from the character we see in KH2, where he's still manipulative and violent, but also jealous, desperate, and pitiable.
But my main problem with KH is simply the unintentionally conflicting moral perspectives. One is more realistic, the other is simplistic; if the villains were the ones with the simplistic outlook it'd be fine, but it's the hero, and I can't buy that because I think a black and white view of reality is ridiculous, especially when the hero's best friend has conquered both and uses them to kick more a** than him. It vitiates Sora's moral authority and makes him a boring protagonist, a character with whom I feel I have to be patient, like a frustrated older sibling. I don't really want to spend my free time playing a game with a main character who makes me sigh wearily, is all.
None of this reflects on people who DO still like KH by the way, it's just that I have a critical nature and I like to think about why I don't like stuff.

I played KH2 before KH. Mistake number 1. xd
Mistake number 2 was that I enjoyed the plot and inclusion of KH2 the most. So I never even finished KH. I traded it in almost shortly after buying it because I was honestly bored with it. The only way I saw the ending, or most of it, was through youtube. Last I remember doing was Alice's World in KH. Think I was a tad further though.
As long as CoM is a card game, I will not play it all the way through. I'll happily watch someone else play it and maybe enjoy the plot that way, but I had enough of a time playing card video games back when I was into Yu-Gi-Oh!.
But yeah, even with those, I still really enjoyed KH2. I think I wanted some other game and was short on cash, so I traded it in at some point. But I wouldn't mind playing it again.
