Who: Kyou, Lazarus, Xiu, Alex & Zul
Where: Lab 305
When: Early evening
Weather: Chilled and crisp

This RP contains suggestive themes and violence. Please do not read if you are easily offended.

The doors of the Lab slammed open with the force of their entry.

Alex hauled the unconscious Frei in to the silent waiting room, her hair a dark cloud around her shoulders and face, green eyes far too wide and far too pale. Her arms, from fingertips to her elbow and on parts of her bicep, were coated in a slick sheen of blood with dark blots of bruises beneath. The remnants of her shirt that desperately clung together were matted with her own blood and a splatter of brackish blood that was not her own. The bandages that had been on her hands previously were mucked and clinging to her burned skin like a sick remnant of skin. With a dried line of blood from her ears to her neck, she looked like she'd just gone rounds with a pro boxer, although who won was up for grabs.

Zul was held in her arms like a sleeping child, although his head lolled back since his central horn was still burning with the white hot fire that set the whole room aglow. His mouth was propped open, sharp teeth clamped around a broken metal pipe, a leather belt wrapped around his face to hold it in place. Arms were pulled behind him and bound by her climbing halter, hands free of anything restraining, although why was clear upon a quick glance; his fingers were still coated with drying magma and possibly bits of his Guardian's skin. A bruise that she'd dealt to his cheek not that long ago was already faded into the green and yellow of being healed. He was regenerating too quickly for her to keep him down, stirring even then in her grip.

"Kyou!" Alex called out hoarsely, practically hobbling down the hallway. "Kyou, I need help!"

Kyou stirred awake from his nap as he felt the tremor resulting from the slamming of the doors. "Wh-what?" he muttered, taking off his glasses to rub on his eyes gently. He had stayed up all night yesterday doing research to find the cure for the virus, all thanks to the abnormally strong coffee Xiu made for him, despite Kyou's request for him to lessen the coffee powder and add more sugar. He had only managed to catch a nap in the afternoon. Sometimes he wonder if the Frei was trying to wear him out like this.

Then he heard it, someone in the far distance calling his name. It sounded like... Alex? He couldn't make out what she was shouting, but it sounded urgent. Fully awake now, Kyou got up and quickly put on his lab coat as he walked towards the source of the voice in big strides.

His eyes widen in horror as he saw Alex. "Oh my God, what happened Alex??!" Steady strides turned into a swift sprint as he rushed towards the badly beaten Alex. She looked like a mess! Then his eyes turned towards the unconscious Frei, the bright light, gagged mouth and bounded hands. It couldn't be... "Did Zul do this?!" he cried, noticing that there were burns on her hands.

Alex started to shake violently when her boss came into view, bloodied hands slipping a little on her charge. When she began to speak, it was stammered and quick, panic and urgency lacing her voice. "He completely lost it, Kyou, he...he attacked me, and if we don't restrain him, he's going to wake up and do it again, I, he, he...he spoke suh-some weird words and it hurt, I--oh god, Kyou, I hit him, huh-hard, b-but he's uh-already healing, look at his cheek, b-but quickly, we have to put him somewhere he can't destruh-destroy..." Her words ran together helplessly, unable to leave her lips fast enough. She was trying to impart the emergency but she felt like she was just going mad.

The Italian gulped in a deep breath, and despite her obvious fear, she did something rather odd; she hugged the fallen Frei to her chest, lowering her head and squeezing her eyes shut. Her lips pulled away from her teeth in agony, although it wasn't the physical kind, her shoulders momentarily shaking with repressed tears. This is my fault. When her green eyes opened again, they were wet with an attempt not to lose control of her emotions. "Please help me," she pleaded, clutching the demon to her body, his head ticking to the side as he tried to wake up from the blow that had knocked him out. "I failed you both, but please, I'm afuh-afraid for him..."

She was barely keeping herself together, but when his head twitched again, the shaking stopped and her eyes turned sharply to the demon's face. The woman held her breath, her body going rigid as if to prepare for battle again. He was still for the time being, her frightened gaze turning back to the doctor. "Please," she repeated in a whisper, as if she were afraid he'd wake up any moment.

It was heart wrenching to see Alex so broken. She is usually so bright, so strong, but now she is reduced to a mess. Kyou's eyes teared up a little at the sight before him, he wanted to give her a hug, but now is not the time.

Feeling the urgency in her voice, Kyou felt a surge of panic too as Zul's head twitched. If he is as dangerous as Alex says, and the scientist definitely don't doubt it judging from Alex's state, Zul would be a danger to the both of them now if he did wake up. There isn't enough time to draw another barrier. Kyou's mind raced, trying to think if there are other alternatives.

He couldn't think of any.

"There is only one way." he whispered as well, mimicking Alex. Bending down a little, he took Zul swiftly yet quietly from Alex's arms, careful not to wake the unconscious Frei. "Follow me." Kyou beckoned the Italian to follow him as he made the ascend up the spiral staircase. The scientist wasn't sure if this would be the best idea, putting Zul into the same room as Lazarus. But Lazarus had settled down a little more these past few days, and that barrier is the only thing that could contain Zul at the moment. He just prayed that Zul wouldn't be the one who aggravates Lazarus instead.

Lazarus was bored, he was bored of destroying the room, bored of cursing at Kyou. He had arranged some remaining wooden pieces into a star shape on the floor and started a little bonfire, hands holding over it, feeding off the fire idly. Footsteps came from the staircase and coming along the hallway, probably Kyou again, since Xiu doesn't make footsteps. Staring sideways towards the opened doorway, he was expecting to see Kyou walk past but instead was greeted with an unexpected sight.

A hiccup escaped her as Kyou took her charge, her expression torn between shame and hope. She desperately wanted to know that the man could save Zul, even if she couldn't keep him anymore for having lashed out at him. "I'm sorry," she whispered, immediately following the taller man without question. Alex's hands began to tremble again, continually glancing from where they were going to Zul's face, her heart torn in two. Forgive me, she cried inwardly for her gagged and bound demon, I only want you to be safe...

"He's been buh-bad since he saw Riv and Eiry fighting," she whispered at Kyou's side, trying to pull herself together and retain some last shreds of dignity and professionalism. Alex tried to focus on his symptoms, to see if anything that happened to him would be of help. "A week ago, he uh, he...i-it was like he was trying tuh-to vomit, huh-he was leaking lava out of his puh-pores." She swallowed hard, the dry click of her throat audible. "I've b-been tuh-trying to stuh-stabilize him ever since, w-with ice cuh-cause he said he couldn't use it. But it's b-been melting so fast..."

Alex trailed off as they came to their destination, feeling her heart sink at the sight of Lazarus. No cure yet, then, she found herself realizing the truth of the situation, her heart heavy. He can't be helped yet...

In Kyou's arms, the demon stirred just a little, his fingers flexing.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2009 10:18 pm

Kyou listened attentively to Alex's words along the way. So Zul couldn't use his ice powers but his fire powers were going haywire, he took note silently. It sounded like Alex went through a hell lot from this whole ordeal, he couldn't had felt worse than what the Italian woman was feeling then, but the guilt in his stomach just continued to build as he listened to Alex's stories.

Stopping at the doorway, he looked through the doorway towards the Sigel within. Brows furrowing, he sighed heavily. "I'm sorry Alex," he apologized, head bowing down in defeat. "I haven't found a cure to save him yet."

Just then, the Frei moved in his arms. Letting out an audible gasp, he almost dropped Zul to the floor in panic. Calming himself down quickly, he doesn't hesitate as he placed Zul softly onto the floor beyond the doorway, making sure only his arm crossed over the barrier. Lazarus got up then, and Kyou quickly withdraw his arms from the invisible wall, pushing the rest of Zul's ribbon in before he stood back up.

There, Zul is effectively trapped in the room with Lazarus now. It is too late for regrets.

"I had set up an invisible barrier within this room. People or items can go in freely, but nothing could escape it, including fire." Kyou explained the mechanics of the barrier, pointing at the burnt walls inside the room, comparing it to the pristine walls outside the room. "Don't worry, I will find a cure for him soon, I promise." he said as he gave Alex a firm hug, his voice determined.

Lazarus stalked over towards the Frei that Kyou just placed beyond the barrier. He had actually wanted to attack Kyou but the scientist was too fast in withdrawing his arms. Looking down at the unconscious form, he recognized him immediately. A soft growl emitting from his mouth as his eyes ran over the bounded features of the baphomet Frei. "Zuuuul." The memory of the Frei hurting him and protecting the basilisk Raevan returned.

Raising his eyes from the unconscious Frei, he looked at Kyou again, half hoping he would explain why the hell would Kyou present him such a... sacrifice. That was when he saw her - Alex. Lazarus's eyes lighten up as he moved closer towards the invisible wall. Now that would be a better sacrifice. He thought darkly. Although she looked like she had been through hell and wasn't as pristine as he last remembered, but she is a lot more delicious than the Frei. A lustrous grin appeared on his dark features as he eyed the Italian woman up and down once, before disappearing beyond the room again. Now is not the time yet, he thought darkly as he moved towards a corner of the room where the people outside could not see. He have to be patient and wait for the perfect moment to attain his prey.

The woman had to take in a few breaths before she trusted herself to speak, and even then, her voice was soft. "I know you're truh-trying," she replied, watching her Frei being thrust into the magically sealed room. Alex covered her green eyes briefly with a shaking, bloody hand, not caring if she got it on her face; the pain of her heart was heavy, the guilt settling thickly in her gut. As Kyou began to speak, she lowered her hand and listened, although she couldn't help but be startled to see Lazarus approaching them.

She glanced nervously to the side and nodded at the doctor's indication, although it was a half-hearted motion. The woman had never felt so defeated in all her life, and she absolutely loathed being helpless. It was like the last few weeks of her life had been nothing but showing her just how powerless she was. It was with this thought that she returned Kyou's hug, shaking but tight, taking in a deep breath. "S-sorry for bleeding on your juh-jacket," she joked lightly, the tears springing into her eyes again. She gave the horned man a gentle, albeit crestfallen smile, nodding to him. "If yuh-you don't mind...I'll try to help too. I d-don't want to leave him."

"Zuuuul."

The voice that reached his long ears was not of the Incubus, but of another Sigel. Zul began to shift more in earnest, his eyes opening and staring out the door with colorless orbs that slowly began to bleed into the black of his sickness. The pentagram on his brow began to shimmer with its own inner blood-red glow as the Frei began to right himself, staring at Alex. Where was his Rivener? Where had she brought him? And why was Kyou--

Bits and pieces of the frantic chase came back to him, and he knew where he was. He'd tried to keep his woman from leaving him, just knowing, knowing she'd leave him behind like she'd left Aphismet and Isi! Like Rivener and Eiry! She'd leave him and she wasn't allowed to do that, she was his!

The heat of his body spiked and the magma crawled up his arms, destroying his bonds as he floated to his full height. Staring. He lifted a hand that was cracked and glowing with his power to touch the bar between his lips; it caved and fell apart, catching the belt and incinerating part of it to ash on contact. Zul never looked away from Alex as she held onto the doctor. He couldn't have her either! Giving a sharp rattle of his wings, the Frei turned to look at the room he was in and saw the other Sigel. The damn possessive monster that wanted his Cordelia.

Zul grinned toothily and lop-sided, but said nothing, instead turning again to look at the two humans and this time catching his woman's eye. A long tongue snaked between his lips and over them, clicking his previously dislocated jaw back into place, putting his hands on either side of the doorway and simply staring.

The Italian missed the Sigel's appraising look, which would prove to be a mistake on her part. When she did look back into the room, she was startled to see Zul awake and free, leering at her, so much so that she gave a small yelp and gripped Kyou's jacket. Alex would throw him out of the way if she had to! But when the demon didn't move, she stared back at him, and a single tear finally escaped her long lashes, cleaning a path down her sweaty, blood-smudged face. "Zul..." she whispered, heartbroken. "I'll save you yet. I wont give up."

Kyou chuckled, "Don't worry, it's just a jacket." releasing the Italian woman he nodded to her request. "You can stay here as long as you like. If you need a bed, you could use Lazarus's just behind this door." motioning towards the shut door behind them. Brows furrowed, he take a good look at the Italian woman's overall state again. "I think you need to clean those wounds up first, and maybe a good cup of hot chocolate, something warm to cool your nerves. It will help you calm down." He said, gently patting Alex's shoulder.

Before leaving, he took a glance into the room again and was surprised to see Zul fully awake already. But what was he doing? Staring at the both of them like that? That stare, and the shimmering inverted star on his forehead gave Kyou the creeps. "Will you be fine on your own here for a short while? While I go and fetch you a first aid kit?" he asked warily, concerned for Alex's emotional state.

For now, Lazarus just stayed patiently in his corner of the room, brooding, waiting. He watched flatly as the Frei awaken from his slumber, breaking the bonds that bound him with ease. Lazarus didn't know what, but there is a certain presence to the Frei that attracts Lazarus's gaze towards him. He felt... a familiarity, like he was a distant relative.

But it doesn't matter now, what matters most is the prey beyond the wall. Soon enough, there won't be any wall between him and his prey. Lazarus couldn't see it, but judging from the way Zul was staring outside, he knew he was staring at the Italian woman. Even he is possessive one, but this time, if he gets into his way, Lazarus wouldn't let it go as easily as last time.

The Italian gave Kyou a grateful smile, nodding her thanks. "I really...appreciate it. I haven't b-been sleeping a wink," her green eyes ticked towards the door and the grinning demon, "I've been so worried. But I'll...think on th-that bed. Thank you, Kyou." Alex bowed her head at the touch to her shoulder, restraining from hugging the man again; he was her boss, after all, no matter how touchy or needy she was for that comfort. She'd need to call Aphismet too, to let him know what happened.

With a shallow breath, she nodded faintly to the question, beginning to lean against the wall opposite of the barricaded door before remembering her condition and being careful not to touch the wall instead. "Yeah," she replied tiredly, slowly lowering herself to sit cross-legged in the hall, worn gaze on Zul, "I'll be fine. Thanks." Alex flashed her boss a warm smile and a small nod, feeling slightly better that her charge was awake and seemed to be as normal as ever.

Her eyes lowered to herself, tearing off the remnants of her sleeve and beginning to wipe the excess blood from her face and neck as best she could. Her arms would need medical treatment, but for the time being, she couldn't have possibly cared less.

The demon chuckled, a dark sound that dripped from his mouth like something tangible and thick. That's right. She wouldn't be going anywhere. Zul was all too pleased to turn the game around, to make her want to stay with him. It was a power-trip that the tri-horned demon was quite proud of, spreading his bone-framed wings and giving them a few lazy beats before floating back into the room. Let her see him now, yes, but disinterested. Make her worry. Make her regret ever even thinking about leaving him. Foolish!

Zul smiled in a crooked manner as he floated across the room and around the mini-bonfire, turning his back on his woman, leaning against the far wall and staring out the small window alloted to them. They couldn't keep him in here forever. Now he'd just bide his time, and consider how he'd bind her to him once he was free of the magically charged room.

Kyou sighed and a small smile of relief spread across his lips, the Italian woman is still as stubborn as head-strong as always, even in this state. The scientist couldn't help but admire this trait of her's. Just a short moment ago she was still hysterical, but she seems to had started to gain back control of herself again.

Giving a last worried glance towards the Frei in the room who now had his back to them, he turned around and headed back towards his office. The first aid kit is still sitting in his room, since he last used it to treat his own wounds caused by Xiu a couple days ago. He will need to make hot chocolate too, since he doesn't trust Xiu's technique in preparing food. Perhaps picking some clean clothes for Alex as well, he quietly noted as he jogged down the stairs.

Arching his head back, Lazarus grinned as he heard Kyou's foot steps disappear into the distance as he descended down the stairs. Now is the time, the Italian woman is finally alone outside.

Lazarus glanced at the Frei by the window as he got up. Good, the only thing left between him and his prey is the damned barrier. Quietly he floated towards the doorway, his eyes set on Alex as he moved closer. Just a few more moments, and you will be miiiiine.

"Alex." he whispered. The sitting Italian woman looked up upon reflex, bad move for her, good for Lazarus. His gaze smouldering as he held the woman's, his hand lightly traced the invisible wall as he got lower, closing the distance between him and Alex. There was a certain glint in his eyes that kept the woman fixed to them, drawing her in. When Lazarus opened his mouth to speak, it was as if the area had gone completely silent, and only his voice was heard. "Come to me." His lips mouthed the words slowly, perfectly. The incubus Sigel held the woman's gaze as he slowly moved back, urging for the Italian woman to follow suit, never breaking eye contact. "Come to me." He mouthed the words again in a low whisper.

When she heard her name, she reflexively looked up, and was ensnared by the Sigel's brilliant red gaze.

Stuck. Her mind suddenly felt very cotton-filled, the hallway very cold. Lazarus' face held all the heat and sensuality of an intimate partner, making Alex's cheeks flush lightly. I'm stuck...what am I supposed to do?

"Come to me."

And there was her answer.

Her limbs moved without her permission, although she wouldn't have stopped them anyway. The Italian slowly moved onto her hands to let her legs unfurl, weight resting on her haunches as she stood in one languid motion. Her gaze never wavered, and she wasn't even certain she was blinking, but it all seemed rather unimportant in that moment. He was calling to her, and she had no choice but to obey that sweet invitation.

"Come to me."

A shiver slid up her spine and pushed her forward, stepping almost softly in her blood- and dirt-encrusted boots. The swath of cloth she'd been using to clean herself fell from her loose grip, unseen by her intent gaze. Alex took a deep, shaky breath with another step. He was calling to her with his eyes and the unspoken words beneath his voice, filling her addled mind with warmth and promise. She'd go to him, and they'd be together.

Any alarms and red flags in her mind were silenced, and without thinking twice, Alex step foot through the barrier, green eyes focused only on Lazarus.

The voice drew the demon out of his smug thoughts, turning his head so he could look at Lazarus over his shoulder. What the heck was he doing? Cooing at his woman? Zul scoffed, but froze as he saw movement. Was Alex actually moving towards the b*****d Sigel? The Frei turned around, staring at Lazarus' back. She wouldn't. She wouldn't go to him! She was his own! Floating high and feeling his temperature beginning to rise dangerously, Zul moved a bit to the side to get a better view.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 15, 2009 7:29 pm

Puuuurrrfect. Lazarus thought, a grin spreading across his face slowly as Alex succumbed to his calling. With arms outstretched and slowly moving back inch by inch, he urged Alex to continue moving until she was completely within the barrier, his eyes never breaking contact.

Now she belongs to him.

Floating closer to Alex, Lazarus could felt the excitement building within him, an odd tingling sensation down in his stomach, and he loved it! Alex is too far gone now, the Incubus Sigel knew for sure. "Stay still." he whispered as he snaked one hand to her back, pulling the Italian woman closer until there were no more distance between them, the other hand went underneath her shirt. "You will enjoy this." he whispered seductively into her ear. Lowering his head, he placed butterfly kisses along her jaw, enjoying the taste of a woman. Slowly and deliberately, he pressed his tongue to Alex's collarbone and dragged it all along her neck. Mmmmm. The hand underneath the shirt had already found the clip of the Italian woman's bra.

Raising his head, the Incubus Sigel looked into the Italian woman's eyes again, smouldering red meeting glazed green. His eyes flicked towards Alex's parted lips. They look so delicious. Licking his lips, he slowly lowered his face to Alex's as he unhooked the front clip of her bra.

The barrier was behind her. She found herself flush against the Sigel's body, fingers ghosting down his stomach to come to a rest at her sides, obeying his command of staying still. Alex didn't have any thoughts, only reactions: his lips on her jaw made her eyes flutter and close, head tilting to the side just enough to accept the other's lips; the tongue on her collar bone was met with a part of her lips and a soft sigh of pleasure. There was nothing else, just Lazarus and his instruction and promise of enjoyment.

Bright green eyes were hazy, muted, as she gazed up at her captor and would-be lover. The fingers pressing beneath the tatters of her shirt and over her warm skin were welcome, taking in a deep breath as Lazarus' hands found her bra, pressing the fabric against his skin as it was unhooked. Her head tilted back a little as the Sigel leaned down to kiss her, prepared to accept the tempting lips.

A terrible, ear-splitting roar reverberated in the room, dripping with rage. No sooner did it split the air than Zul was on Lazarus, having charged him from the side. His eyes were black but bleeding in his thick, brackish manner, the pentagram on his brow alive with its own red glow. Hands quickly grasped the Sigel's forearms and slammed him against the wall, leaking lava that instantaneously hardened around the captured Incubi's wrists.

Not yours! Not yours! You can't have her, she's mine mine mine!

Zul spread his wings painfully far, the marbled webbing stretching between the bone frames as he vaulted himself backwards, stopping only inches in front of Alex. He continued to face the interloper, the betrayer, the thief. The rings clattered against the bone of his wings, which quivered and remained outright to make himself seem bigger. Each bloody tear that fell made a hissing sound on the floor, burning at whatever it touched. The demon's head ticked side to side in a jerky, rapid movement.

He roared another wordless challenge.

MINE MINE MINE MINE!

Alex came to her senses at the second roar, finding herself suddenly on her knees and her shirt uncomfortably...loose. She gave a strangled, embarrassed cry of shock before she wrapped her arms around herself, horrified as her mind began to play back why she was where she was - and what she had almost done.

Stunned, the woman looked up to see Zul floating in front of her, his rune violently red in the black crust that covered it. "No no no," she whispered, shaking, scrambling backwards until her back hit the barrier. Taking as deep of a breath as she could, she called just short of a scream. "KYOU!!"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 15, 2009 9:21 pm

He was so close, so close! She was just inches, no, millimeters away from him, from being his completely. When that insolent fool butted in.

Lazarus's lips barely brushed Alex's before the ear-splitting roar deafened his ears, causing him to close his eyes and winced. The next thing he knew he was slammed to the wall and his arms were stuck. What the hell? Lifting his eyes he stared at the demon Frei in front of him, his teeth gritting. "She is mine!" he hissed through gritted teeth. Primal anger surged through his body, he felt like he was burning up.

When the second roar vibrated the entire room, Lazarus had to close his eyes again from the pain in his ears. But when he opened them again, there was a different glow in them. His iris were no longer red, but glowing with a sickeningly bright yellow. Red veins slowly crawled from all around his sclera towards the center, covering it entirely in blood red. Letting out a deafening roar of his own, the Sigel broke through the harden lava with sheer force.

"HOW DARE YOU CHALLENGE ME???!!" The enraged Sigel roared, spreading his own wings, which were a lot larger than Zul's, the jointed bones clicked in a sickening manner. With a strong flap Lazarus lurched towards the equally madden Frei. Reaching for the brightest point of the Baphomet Frei, Lazarus grabbed Zul's central horn and pulled the Frei towards him, ignoring the searing pain from the intense heat. His other arm was pulled backwards and with a sickening crack, he landed the punch onto Zul's face hard, letting go of the horn upon impact he watched Zul fall backwards from the force. The skin burnt and peeled from his hand that held the horn, but it didn't bothered him as he eyed the Frei with burning hatred.

If Kyou didn't hear Alex's scream, he definitely felt the tremor that vibrated the building when the fight started. He was making the hot chocolate for Alex when he felt the shock of Zul slamming Lazarus to the wall. Eyes widen in shock and fear, he quickly grabbed the first aid kit laying nearby and make his dash upstairs.

If Alex screamed, Zul didn't hear it. The demon shook his head a few times as he pushed himself upright, black, bleeding eyes focused on Lazarus. The pain was brief and took a backseat the boiling rage inside of him, the wrath of dominance and ownership blinding him from the sight of his woman. Molten magma coursed down his face and hardened around the parts of him that had been hurt, acting both as a shield and a means to keep himself intact. The same lava sprung out over his hands and knuckles, hardening on them, but not completely; the dangerous heat from within glimmered beneath the hard shell. His unwavering gaze went without blinking as the remnants of the Sigel's skin on his horn blistered and burned.

The demon was upright within seconds, bloody tears splashing onto the ground with a hiss and a pop before he was floating towards Lazarus again. He had to get him away from what was his! It didn't matter if she was pleading with them not to fight, their names dull on his ears; all that mattered was that he put that thing in its place, that Lazarus recognize who was superior! The bone-lined wings began to rattle again, darting side to side in a rapid and sharp motion before he lunged. One hand was held high as he charged, crackling with the blistering heat of his power, but it was the lower hand that swung, aiming for the Incubi's ribs, the internal glow of his makeshift armor casting a sinister light over his target. He was bigger, yes, but so too did he have more weakness! Zul would not be outdone by this over-sized thief, traitor, b*****d!

"LAZ! ZUL! STOP IT!" Alex was beside herself with grief, both for what had happened to her and that it had started what she saw now; a front row spectacle of demons clashing for dominance. She was terrified that Lazarus was going to kill the Frei, but part of her mind recalled Jeremy's condition that fateful October night, and she wasn't sure who to be frightened for. The woman pressed her back even harder against the barrier, willing her trembling legs to stand. She couldn't sit there, not in the middle of a demonic war!

Tears threatened to spring to her eyes, but she couldn't tell if it was because of her emotions or the dry, yet acrid air in the room. Her throat felt thick with the raw heat coming off of both of them, her arms beginning to itch in recognition of the power that had flayed them. Bad, bad, this is bad, forgive me, Kyou, forgive me, Aphi... she repeated inwardly, wide, red-shot eyes watching the battle unfold. "Please!" she pleaded with them, knowing her voice was falling on deaf ears, "stop it, both of you! STOP IT!"
