This is something that's going to hit us again with short term crew elections coming up. We really need to get the guild to define what exact role crew should have. Before crew was just expected to move misplaced threads and to delete threads when people asked. Now it seems like crew needs to do everything for the guild and nothing can happen unless crew does it.

What do you think of asking the guild exactly what they think about the role crew should have in a thread? We'd give them options like:
1. Crew should just go back to moving threads and running sign ups.
2. It's crew's job to do everything. They should be the ones to make us active.
3. Crew should be responsible for something but the guild belongs to everyone so we should all have a part in keeping it active.
4. Your own personal opinion.

Personally I don't like how it seems like crew has to be responsible for every single thing in the guild, including making threads just to keep things active. I really hope thats just me overreacting to the way things have been lately. But crew was always there to support the guild and to keep things running smoothly. Now it seems like nothing can run unless crew does it.

Your opinions?

I really want to get a thread up in the guild about this by Friday. It seems like you're not the only one who doesn't want to run for crew right now. There haven't been any real nominations so far, since I last looked yesterday at least. ninja

Anyway, until we get this cleared up, its just gonna keep popping up again and the next crew is just going to face the same mess.

Anyway, we agree there's a problem but now we need options to present to the guild. And at the moment I can't come up with anything better than what I used for an example, so you all should come up with variations of them too. Then we'll use the best ones in the thread by Friday.

Crew's job should be to support things at the most. In other guilds and here it was the regular members who started things. Having crew do everything is like saying it is the mommy/daddy of the guild, and that the guild members are totally incapable of thinking or doing anything for themselves. That's not true and that makes the whole "crew should do it" attitude frustrating.

I guess with Sib they just wanted a change. Crew throwing parties, giving help when guild members want to do some event or whatever, listening to suggestions, that is what crew's job should be. We shouldn't have to be the guild parents. That's just sad when most guild members are in college or even just finishing high school, but then expect crew to tell them what to do, when they've come up with things on their own before.

Consider the fact that this thread has been up for 2 days, and only four people have posted in it, one of which is not an official "crew."
It is a busy time of year, but it doesn't take but a minute to check up on the kroo forum.
I don't mind being an example or a leader, but it's just frustrating that kroo tries to do things and then are harassed for that/ kroo ends up NOT doing them.

Other than pumping this guild full or new people, I can't imagine it getting much more active.

Well this topic is going up to the guild tomorrow no matter what. It was discussed before back in October but it died. So we do it now so future crew and the guild knows what crew is supposed to do. And I really hope they don't decide crew should be the one to do everything.

As for more activity, lets just have more parties and outside threads to make this place more fun. People like fun things.

But we need options for the thread that sound better than the BS examples I made.

Those options sound fine. I was going to throw in "crew is responsible for increasing the member base" but that falls into helping it stay active and member participation.
