Da'Rehl soared through the air over Ryuten. He was more independent now that he was nearly an adult. Though he was currently in that awkward phase where he wasn't quite a child and not quite an adult. He still needed his mother and yet wanted to be independent. This was a confusing time for him. Today though he found himself wanting to inspect this area closer. He had heard about it from another Nequus not long ago and just knew he had to check it out.
Spotting a small pond where he could quench his thirst Da'Rehl tipped his wings and quickly landed at the ponds edge. He took a quick look around before lowering his head. Gulping up the water he felt much better. The grass around the pond would also make a good snack. So once done getting his fill of water he wandered a bit away from the pond and began munching away on the grass. His thoughts moved to his mother. He missed her, but knew he would see her again in a few days.

Tanaris strolled across the meadow, he preferred to walk lately rather then fly, ever since the attack from the Reya's in D'ob his wing had a tendency to ache on long flight's. Walking solved that problem - even if it was slower going. In all reality Tanaris knew he was lucky to have recovered as well as he had and this was partially because of another's help, ah well that was in the past now and Tanaris had decided to focus on the future.
He was headed in the vague direction of a pond he'd visited before during his trips to this area though he wasn't in any particular hurry to get there, it seemed someone else was there at the moment - or at least he was fairly sure the flurry of motion he saw across the meadow was another Nequus. No need to hurry over and crowd whomever it was he told himself with a slight shake of his head and so he continued his relaxed and placid approach.

Da'Rehl's head lifted a bit as he ate. His ears swiveled around listening to the sounds, another Nequus was headed this way, but from the sound of it they were approaching slowly so he went back to eating. Snipping the grass off with his teeth he began to eat quickly like he often did when he was younger. Tail swishing happily back and forth as he bit more and more grass off. Soon his mouth was so full he couldn't possibly bit off anymore grass. So he lifted his head slightly and began chewing away.
After a bit of chewing he decided he could take up some more grass and went back to biting off the tips of the blades of grass. Until once again his mouth was overflowing with it. His ears swiveled around again, the other was getting closer but right now he didn't care. At least he didn't feel like he was in any danger so why react in such a way.

Tanaris didn't pay much attention to the other stallion - who as far as he could tell was pretty engrossed in his meal anyways, he merely made his way to the waters edge and took a drink. Upon seeing his reflection the stallion paused for a moment, not for the first time wondering once again here he was going to go next - at one time he'd had it all planned out..he was going to the fruitlands to find Etain and the foals...but that was before the reya had gotten a hold of him, by the time he'd healed enough to travel they'd been long gone.
Where he would go no? he had no idea and sighing slightly her took another drink - there didn't seem to be much point in dwelling on things lost, all it did was bring up feelings of despair and loss...hardly the feelings one wanted to have on a daily basis..but Tanaris couldn't help but feel just a little bit lost anyways.

As the other Nequus stopped at the pond to drink Da'Rehl decided to take his first look at who had wandered upon his resting spot. With grass sticking out of his mouth, he began chewing the current wad of grass he had when his eyes fell upon the stallion at the pond.
He looked at the grey stallion who from the looks of his posture he wasn't having a good day. Then he noticed the pattern on his body. Those markings, they were the same as what he had on his body. He turned his head to look at his own hide. No, it couldn't be. Of all the Nequus to run into, why did it have to be this one. It was his father.
The sudden realization of who he was looking at made his take a deep breath. Doing so made him inhale that ball of grass he had been chewing on. Da'Rehl began to chock, he coughed and hacked and stamped his foot. After a few tense moments he was able to swallow the grass.

Tanaris hadn't even given the other stallion a good look over when he arrived, other then to notice that he was purple in color anyways, and he probably wouldn't have had the other beast no started to make a horrible hacking sound. Swinging his head around to look at the other who was obviously in distress, Tanaris wasn't sure exactly what he could do to help, it was clear the beast was choking but there wasn't any way to fix that.
Thankfully it seemed the other stallion had things under control and help was unneeded anyways "I say...you might want to chew your food before attempting to swallow it" he told the other in wry tone, the stallion was young he saw..and wasn't that peculiar patten on his hide, why it almost looked like his..but of course it couldn't be the only mare he'd had relations with had been Etain and well she was gold with only a purple tail. This stallion had to have come from parents with far more purple on them - it was merely coincidence he told himself.

How dare he tell him what to do, Da'Rehl thought. And although he wasn't one hundred percent sure that this was his father he was hard pressed to find evidence that he wasn't. After all they had the same markings, and this was the first Nequus he had run into that had those specific markings.
His eyes narrowed a bit in anger. "Do not tell me what to do." He snapped at the older stallion. Well if it was his father there was no reason to play nice. After all he hadn't even been there for him as a foal, probably out chasing other pretty mares while ignoring Etain's needs.

Tanaris was a bit surprised by the other's sudden anger "Being a bit touchy aren't you?" he asked him with a raised brow before shaking his head and turning back to the water, it really wasn't any of his business if the young stallion wanted to be moody "No skin off my nose" he muttered to himself, he was probably just embarrassed about choking in front of a stranger he told himself. Still wasn't a reason to be so rude and Tanaris snapped his tail as though agreeing with this mental thought.

A bit touchy? Why of all the nerve. Well Da'Rehl really did hope that this indeed was not his father. After all the stallion did seem quite daft. I mean who wouldn't see a possible family resemblance between then. Surely his mother wouldn't have ended up having children with a stupid stallion.
"You know nothing about me, how dare you judge me by a single encounter." He should have just left, but this stupid stallion had insulted him and he wasn't about to let that go.

Tanaris sighed slightly - young stallions and their foolish uptight pride could be bothersome at time and this young horse certainly seemed to have a bug up his butt about something, Tanaris couldn't fathom what exactly had set him off...but that hardly seemed important now.
"Well" Tanaris said the word slowly..as though the colt might have trouble following what he was about to say next "As I have never met you before I only have this single encounter to judge you by" The stallion concluded before adding "Perhaps you should think about working on your first impressions" he concluded but now that he had started the grey stallion found it hard to stop "Perhaps you should spend some more time under the watch of your sire and dam..clearly they failed to teach you simple manners, Tell me their names colt..perhaps I"ll seek them out and have a word or two with them!"

D'Rehl was beginning to hate this stallion more and more. And every time he thought he could leave the stupid Jala had to made some other comment that made him stay and defend himself. He stamped his foot in anger.
"My dam did a fine job in teaching me manners." He snorted. "If anything you can blame my deadbeat father for the way I act." He shook his mane in frustration. "If you really must know their names, then fine, though I don't think it will do any good. My mother is Etain." He paused for a moment, tail swishing in anger. "As for my father, well I don't really remember what his name was. Something along the lines of Tanaris or something. Not like it matters."

Tanaris was all set to completely disagree with this youth - clearly his parents hadn't done a so called ' fine job' in teaching him manners, since he didn't seem to have any of them to speak of. Or at least none of them that Tanaris could see. Yes he was all set to point this out to the colt....until the little beast dropped his parent's name.
Tanaris' jaw dropped and he couldn't do anything more then stare stupidly at the colt for quite a few moments until he recalled that he must look pretty stupid an shut it with a quick snap. Surely the beast was lying...but there was no way he could be Tanaris reminded himself, he hadn't told the colt his name. The grey stallion felt his hearth clench as he remembered that the colt had called him a deadbeat, and that he could barely remember his name. Had Etain told them nothing of him? He couldn't blame her really....
The stallion shook his head to clear his muddled thoughts an cleared his throat before stating softly "Do you really think your father was a deadbeat?...maybe...maybe he had a reason"

Da'Rehl snorted. "Of course he is a deadbeat. He was never there for us, so how can he be anything but?"Rolling his eyes at the other stallion Da'Rehl once again wondered if this stallion was stupider than he looked.
So either this was his father and so dumb he didn't even realize it, or he was a damn good look alike. It didn't matter all that much. "Oh yeah, I'm sure he had a reason. Probably off chasing some other pretty Nequus' tail instead of being there for my mother." He stared at the stallion and half shrugged. "What's it to you?"

Chasing pretty nequus tail? Did the colt really think so low of him? Tanaris wasn't sure exactly how to respond to the colt and flicked his tail in irritation. This was certainly not how he had envisioned meeting his children for the first time - especially not his son. Of course sitting here looking stupid wasn't going to do anything to raise him in the eyes of the colt.
"I am Tanaris" He finally managed to strangle out "And I assure you that I would have been there...if I could have been" he said this softly, almost pleading for the colt to understand while his eyes swept over the youth again "...I didn't expect you to be purple" He finally stated "Your mother was mostly gold..."

Da'Rehl snorted, just his luck, he would run into his father. Not that he really doubted for a moment that it wasn't him since laying his eyes on the grey Jala. Oh all the Nequus to run into it had to be this one. He would not tell his mother though. No need to bring her grief by mentioning this encounter.
"So you are him, thought so." Da'Rehl said with a shrug. "Yeah, I'm sure you would have been there." He added in a sarcastic tone. "But since you weren't there's no point in trying to be there now huh." He turned and began to walk away, sure he could fly but in a way he wanted to get under this stallions nerves a bit more before he did so.
