Ok, the thread came up as to using music as a potential power source, if I read it correctly. My question is... What style/band is YOUR power music?

Mine is Sonata Arctica, a phenom dark metal band from Europe. I'm not into dark majicks, but I've been through enough in my life that they, like my beliefs, fit my life and my requirements.

I like tv shows/movies soundtracks. Legends of the Fall has a beautiful un sang song which is called "The Ludlows". Or "The Ice Dance" from Edward Scissorhands. Or "Good, or dont Be" from Evangelion (this last one i found it awsomely useful for "hopeful" mood asking ^^

I use Tool. It can either focus my energy inside me or it can create a very powerful release. Depending on the track and how I'm feeling. There is a lot of philosophy, mathematics and metaphysics in their music and it is very powerful stuff.

Metal has a lot of power in it, and sometimes I really think Ozzy is downright prophetic. Of course, I've been a headbanger so long that I can actually understand the words to most songs....

I love Metallica too, they write about some pretty deep subjects. I find a lot of meaning in Rush songs as well. For fun, I like AC/DC and Anthrax, and I just plain old like Green Day. razz

Anything based around drums or digerydoos is good. As is 60's and early 70's folk rock or protest rock. But only if you're doing something where it's OK to let your mind be pulled in by the lyrics.

coral music for me, it puts me in a completely balanced and relaxed mindset that allows me to do many thing i would never be ble to foucus to in my normal ways.

it depends on what i'm doing. if i just want to balance, relax, recoup, whatever, i use celtic/new age/classical stuff--generally light listening without any distinguishable vocals. if i'm doing a ritual sabbat thing, i tend towards Russian folk songs and orthodox chants. if i need to be angry and raging, i prefer the song "I ******** Hate You" by Godsmack.

For me most types of rock work. Those and rock-techno hybrids.

I totally agree !! Except maybe the Rush thing ~ I never quite got into them ....
For meditation and such, I like Enya and Enigma ; but for POWER music there's nothing like metal !! Although lately, I really like German Industrial Metal bands like Rammstein and Megaherz, and Marilyn Manson for those really stressful days ... smile

For me, it's anything that I can relate to lyrically.....whatever lyrics fit my moods, that's what I use.

I agree with that completely. Though occaisionally I get in a mood for a certain style, then it doesnt matter what song it is so long as it's in that genre.
