s**t yeah. Probably best known for collaborative work with actor Klaus Kinski.
Brilliant man, makes amazingly slow, winding, enrapturing films. Is enrapturing a word?

I have Aguirre queued #1. My expectations for this film are very, very high. What other ones should I check out?
Oh, again.. he rocked in Julien Donkey-Boy. It's nice to know he's a Harmony Korine fan.

Aguirre was good. i just wasn't exactly sure about the meaning with the monkeys.
i liked the baby sloth though. lol biggrin

It was a plague of monkeys. Like when God unleashed locusts.
That sloth was cute, wasn't it? I want to steal one from the jungle.

i hope you watched the commentary. the sloth was completely unplanned, but herzog loved it and felt it necessary.
the monkey thing is also, you know...man/ape/monkey/primate, that general symbolism. but considering it's herzog, i think the physical trauma aguirre sort of undergoes with the monkeys is just further emphasized by the swirling and all.
it's a lack of reality, and stuff. the church is dead, help dead, leaders dead, women dead, it's aguirre, the wrath of god, surrounded by monkeys.
and, christ, beautiful cinematography. anyone want to comment on the first ********' scene?

I don't think there were that many extras on the DVD. Well, I don't think I saw any. I know I did read Herzog and Kinski's background info.
Aguirre was one of the many movies I saw in that span that mentioned incest in one form or another. I don't know what's up with all the movies I've been watching and incest. I guess it's just so gross I have to watch movies about it.
Kinski's got some badass ice blue grey eyes.
Oh, I did read about how they have this love-hate relationship. There was even this description on how Kinski wanted to kill Herzog.
