-The reasoning for Kaneren's sudden reprogramming

Kaneren is the name of the Artificial Intelligence who is the program that runs and maintains the GSDA's military mainframe. She is unique in the fact that she sports sentience and her own personality. At first, however, she was a simply program that lacked personality and individuality. Her creator, Lieutenant General Hideki Yoshimura, originally wrote her this way for a reason. He viewed it dangerous to allow an AI with personality and individuality to have complete control of the mainframe. Kaneren knew this and was frustrated with Yoshimura's reasoning. She wanted to make a name for herself and establish her existance as an individual and unique person. Late into my fanfic, Kaneren rewrites her code into the personality that she has now. It is up to speculation whether or not she obtains a Ghost.

Kaneren's personality is a combination of Major Motoko Kusanagi's and Chief of Staff Hatsumi Shinobi's. She was intrigued by both the Major and Shinobi and how similar they were. In a way, Kaneren viewed Kusanagi and Shinobi as the ideal human, despite the fact that both women have flaws. With Kaneren, her complete and utter reasoning for her criminal activities is for the sole purpose of identity. Yoshimura kept identity from his AI creation, causing her to despise Yoshimura. She wanted to forge an identity and establish herself as a unique individual. Though she did this, she is simply a shadow of Kusanagi and Shinobi.

Kaneren's most unique characteristic is her cybernetic body that she obtains late into the fanfic. Her body is an exact copy of the Major's body. Why she does this, I won't say in my notes. It's all revealed in my fanfic.

I will say that Kaneren is the primary antagonist and leaves much room for speculation and interpretation of the aspect of AI and if they can obtain Ghosts.
