I pretty much think it's a cult..I consider LaVeyan Satanism a religion before cooky old Scientology. He was quoted of saying, "The way to make a million dollars is to start a religion." But now the "church" is denying that this was ever said. Does anyone here take any word of $cientology seriously? Or...are ya'll on the same page as me with it? xD

it was based off of a science fiction novel that Hubbard wrote as entertainment, not to start a religion. It is only the weak and feeble minded that would follow such a crazy belief system.

hmmm, I don't think there are any scientologists in this Guild who can stand up for themselves although it doesn't look like the questions posed were made to them.
Does anyone even know what they teach/believe in?

Does anyone even know what they teach/believe in? There's a freezoner in this guild. I know some of what they teach but not enough to be objective or authoritative. What I do know for fact is that L Ron Hubbard was influenced by (possibly a student of) Aleister Crowley according to his son's biography about his father.

They teach a theton scale where they measure your happiness, if you consider yourself apathetic they basically say you're really depressed because of it. Which in some cases is true, but I'm a more carefree apathetic and pretty content that way.
Also Xenu is their bamf.
Not very informative, but I didn't take in much of the bull I felt I was being fed by certain advocates.

Scientology teaches people that every man is born immoral as humans are infected with the left over spirits of criminal aliens who were sent to Earth as a punishment from their overlord Xenu.
I ask you, how can any belief stimulate from a sci-fi novel?

I've heard that they take all your money to fund this "church" and that they go off on these weirdo "journies" in the middle of the desert and have a bunch of underage boys there.
Have you seen the comercial for it? I just saw one about a month ago and the main face was that of a young girl. She was pretty, but it was very suggestive. I'm positive she was underage.

I've read some of the books, and there is some solid physics and philosophy based on the physics. I haven't seen a single thing on C'thulu or Xenu or whichever.
The basic idea seems to be that Theta, or absolute zero, is what makes up the soul- As the soul has no time, space mass or volume, it must be true static, and static is shown as Theta- So, we, being souls, are Thetans. Of course, some of it I find to be crap, such as the idea that we can literally alter the universe with our soul power, but the idea that energy and thus matter flows from the static thetan seems to make sense, if it doesn't need a bit of work.

Scientology was a money-grubbing cult that even killed a few people. They are one of the few religions I detest the most. Even the idea is completely stupid.

I found this Nightline video on Scientology that talks about the health ramifications of Scientology and about whether or not Scientologists actually believe in Xenu (answer: they don't want to talk about it...) Honestly, I have a really hard time seeing Scientology as anything but a cult. At best, it's just stupid.
