Judge: "Begin when ready."

[Describe arena aspects in each of the combatant's first post. That will determine the area in which both fight.]

Chaos sat on top of a lone tree, in the center of a grassy field, filing his nails. With each nail he would hold them up to the light of the sun before filing the next nail. He was whistling an odd tune during the entire time. "I wonder when my play mate will show up?"

Chaos himself was wearing his large purple cloak, a headband on his head. A few strands of his long red hair was hanging down in front of his face. His red eyes seemed to be fixated on the file in hand.

The humidity of the plateau-like field made his hair somewhat sticky, but he couldn't complain when the sunlight actually permeated through his skin, giving him a taste of warmth ever since he was sent to the Fate-forsaken icy wasteland. Violet eyes cautiously lifted upwards, the child identifying the only other moving thing on the field.

A redhead whom reminded him of his foster sister, waiting for the start of battle by doing something mediocre and inane. The white-haired child stared upwards at the purple-cloaked warrior, nervously saying, "Well....I'm here."

He gave a small shrug, his posture radiating defenselessness as he stood still in the middle of the grassy field.

Chaos didn't look at his foe his just continued to file away at his nails but none the less he seemed to be aware of his play-mate. "Boy you are slow. I could of laced the entire battlefield with land-minds if I wanted." Chaos said as he held his hand up to the sun checking his nails once more. He then put the file away and looked down at the person before him. "I hope you enjoy games..."

Noting an attempt at psychological warfare, Hikari merely gave a nonchalant shrug to his opponent, apparently taking the reprimand in stride. His white hair shifted to the side as he tilted his head, amusingly saying, "Maybe...maybe not~ Never know unless you try."

A flick of his index finger marked the start of battle as the hilt of a blade materialized right underneath his arm, sharp pieces of obsidian metal quickly rotating haphazardly around his hand. His right finger used the flicking motion to quickly motion the start of a runeweave, a rune of evocation being the initiating rune, as his motions were obscured by the fast rotating pieces of metal.

Glowing incandescently, Hikari stared at his opponent and waited.

Still sitting in the tree Chaos had pulled out a book and began to read. He was whistling a catchy toon while he read. He didn't seem to be paying much of any attention to his foe. It was almost as if Chaos didn't care about his foe. "And that was when Masamune fell down the well... Hehe..." Chaos chuckled as he turned the page of the book.

The child pursed his lips, obviously a bit annoyed and a bit hesitant at attacking an opponent who clearly didn't care. His right hand was pretty much working automatically, writing rune after rune in order to alter the spell's parameters.

Meanwhile, the concentrated incandescence slowly coalesced into his left hand, a haze of light energy surrounding it. Hesitatingly, he clenched his left fist, the profile of his fist pointed towards his opponent...and then he struck. The light energy around his hand immediately coalesced into a blade, quickly extending length-wise straight towards his opponent's chest.

However, the blade was purely cosmetic, the light concentration having no substance. Should it even impact anything, the light energy would merely lose its shape. Simply put, it was a mere test of resolve.

Chaos didn't move he just sat there as the blade of light struck him. Wit this however Chaos closed his book and looked at his foe. "Interesting... Using an attack that did nothing to test something... Interesting maneuver. Though I was half expecting to be launched across the battlefield with that attack..." Chaos said as his hand emerged from his cloak, his foe could see that his hand was covered in a belted like glove. On the palm of his glove was a seal that in a flash of light unsealed, placing an odd Naginata in Chaos's hand. "There is no point in fooling around anymore, come boy!"

The blade of light disengaged as his opponent spoke, dispersing back into ambient light. However, the collected light energy in Hikari's left hand still continued to increase in intensity. The subtle nod of agreement was his answer, confirming that the attack indeed did nothing.

The light once more coalesced back into a blade, though this one apparently took all of that concentrated energy and floated under his hand.

Hikari observed the small acute movements of Chaos's glove and the resulting flash of light. Already, several pieces of obsidian had already shot to protect Hikari's form, emitting a destructive dissonance before floating back to protect Hikari. That flash was not an attack; it was an unsealing.

A naginata.

His right index finger and thumb pinched together as he stretched out his pinky to complete the runic spell. Meanwhile, he slowly circled around the tree that Chaos stood in, taking care to keep the same distance between him and Chaos. His eyes narrowed in concentration as Chaos spoke, feeling and detecting the area around him for residual energy.

It was clear his opponent could use fuinjutsu, the art of sealing, as he likely customized that seal on his glove. The question now was whether if he indeed prepared the area around him. He may very well have been stuck in a seal-induced illusion from the very start.

Chaos smiled as a wave of chakara was emitted from his form, the wave of energy consuming the battlefield for a moment before dissipating. From that moment his foe would feel Chaos's forsaken chakara. It stung the skin lightly as if one had a sunburn. It was fowl, corrupt, and just plain nasty. Almost as if he was pulling on the energy of a demon, but yet vastly different from that of a demon.

Yet that wasn't the main concern as the same corrupt chakara could soon be felt radiating up from deep in earth, growling slowly in power. Yet that wasn't all, the naginata he had pulled also seemed to glow with an odd power as well. The creature standing before Hikari was not a normal person, some described him as a god.

"Tell me... Do you know your history? Izanami-no-kami and Izanagi-no-kami..." Chaos said as he pointed his naginata at his foe. "Not to mention Ame-no-nuhoko... Are names I hope you know. Hehehehe..."

The pulse of chakra met Hikari's aura, the opposite natures mixing with each other like chocolate being spun into milk. Visibly wincing, the child paused in mid-step before he continued circling once more. Hikari gazed upwards at the rather bright sun, watching the wisps of the malevolent chakra separating from his own aura as if nothing happened.

If the pulse fed back information, his opponent would quickly realize Hikari's own nature. Something lesser than and greater than divinity at the same time, someone with the arcana of Judgment. One who stood in the liminality between the light and the dark.

The obsidian fragments collected themselves into a single blade, the edge serrated where a swordguard should've been. The whispers of Messiah entered through his clenched fingers as he stared at the naginata.

'Darkness all around...shadow...'

The light around his blade continued becoming brighter, the blade more distinct as it crystallized under Hikari's hand. The intense light from the blade would hide the subtle flick of his pinky as he initiated a spell with a rune of conjuration. "Only peripherally. I didn't come from your...Japon."

"I see... Then I guess I have the advantage." Chaos said as his eyes suddenly turned into a bright gold. An evil smile appeared on his face as he jumped down from the tree landing on the ground without a sound. There Chaos stood as he stared straight forward, still not looking at his foe. "Demon Vines..." Yet with those words Chaos launched his first attack. From the earth behind Hikari, a 1 cm diameter vine shot up from the earth at the back of Hikari. There was no chakara pulse, no wave, nothing. It was almost as if the vine attacked without provocation.

The sun appeared to beat down rather harshly on the battlefield, the heat causing the air to haze. A drop of sweat felt down from Hikari's face as he continued to circle, responding with a simple "Perhaps..." The sound of earth displacing right behind him alerted him to something likely untoward right behind him.

A subtle counterclockwise twist of his waist and a stretching of his left shoulder allowed him to bring his left hand into the path of the vine blow. His peripheral vision caught the object desiring to poke holes into him. The levitating blade would intercept the vine in a hard block; the light energy would immediately attempt to disintegrate the vine on contact, virally disintegrating more and more of the vine until that chunk of light energy was spent.

The index finger and the middle finger of his right hand would stick up outwards as Hikari used his rotational momentum to charge straight for Chaos's side. His right hand was parallel to the ground in front of his body while his left hand, same two fingers sticking out and specifying the sub-school of his next spell in a drawn rune, would trail behind him, photon blade in tow.

Chaos just smiled as his foe charged at him. He didn't move he just watched as if foe charged at him, that was until his foe was half way towards him. "Demon vines..." Chaos said once more as this time vines shot up from the earth straight up as to cage his foe inside them. But that wasn't all, inside circle of vines more shot up in straight lines from one end of the circle to the other. Chaos was creating a seal on the earth below his foe with his vines, his foe in the middle of the vines and the soon to be seal.

A mere thought triggered the very first spell he casted as the cage of vines moved to stand between him and his opponent. Almost like deux ex machina, several blindingly bright beams of light bombarded the battlefield, clearing the distance between him and his opponent.

The source appeared to be from the very sun itself. If one had looked up earlier, they would note that the 'sun' was larger and more intense than usual before it released its deadly payload down upon the earth. The surroundings away from the blasts' immediate vicinity became cooler immediately, almost back to the original temperature. The heat haze ended.

Covering the other half of the distance, Hikari bit his lip slightly as his left hand started smelling slightly burnt, a haze of intense white trailing with his blade...essentially the portion of the light energy that would've struck him when he was caught in his own bombardment. The fingers of his left hand stopped motioning, the conjuration spell apparently finished and merely waiting to be readied.

His right hand gripping the black blade swung from left to right at his opponent's left arm as he stepped forward with his right leg. His left hand settled for continuing to trail back except the light blade was now in an icepick grip while being parallel to the ground near his hip. Both his hands would continue to have the same fingers outstretched.
