History...
Once, long ago, there were many packs of Na'vi, and they were a proud and mighty people. Large for their breed, the mountain Na'vi were varying shades of blue with dark stripes, black manes, and yellow eyes. Unusual among dragons, they had unusually long manes, especially near their ears. This hair was typically braided and referred to as a "queue".

But that was long ago.

It started with the plague, really. Although isolated enough to survive largely untouched, the Na'vi still found that they had to accept outsiders to prevent inbreeding and help rebuild numbers. Not everybody was happy about it, but the (very occasional) outsider had been accepted before, so there was a precedent.

And they rebuilt and thrived and no longer needed to accept outsiders.

Then the 'Cons came.

The Na'vi are a strong and proud people, and succeeded in fighting off the invading pack, but not without heavy losses. And once more, they find themselves in the difficult position of having to accept outsiders. Not all dragons accept this, and tensions are running high in the pack. Will they survive the rebuilding?

Olo'eyktan
The Olo'eyktan is the leader of the clan and mated to the Tashik.

Tsahik
The Tashik is the spiritual leader of the pride, and mated to the Olo'eyktan.

Taronyu
These are the hunters of the clan, and the default adult rank.

The Tsamsiyu are warriors. They typically work as Taronyu as well.

This translates as "weaver" but refers to all the crafters in the clan.

Highly trained healers.

Karyu
The Karyu are teachers and instruct the 'eveng and Faketuan in the ways of the clan.

"Dreamwalkers," or outsiders and those of mixed blood who have been accepted into the clan. They typically hold a second rank and are sometimes less flatteringly referred to as Vrrtep, or demon.

I'll put her as a warrior on the grounds that she's totally badass. (Also, I'm pretty sure the ranks are the same thing in the movie. I just like varietyyyy!)

Yessss... but I don't think there was that much difference between the two ranks in the movie, to be honest. I looked on the Avatar Wiki and I got the definite feeling that the ranks are Patriarch, Matriarch, everybody else. So I found a Na'vi dictionary and pulled some ranks out of my a**.
