They came from a small island village of Time Lords in Aquatus that practiced their temporal arts in relative seclusion. Many different clans of Time Lords perfect their skills in different ways, and they keep most of them secret, but one right of passage that is common for most Time Lords to be involves taking a 'Temporal Walkabout'. To take this journey, a student must enter a trance through depriving the body of food and water for days. Once the mind is ready, the student must then look into a temporal void that, depending on the mind, will show images of the past or future that will guide the new Time Lord.
Chrono had heard stories of the ancient elemental war against the darkness, and was hoping to see the mysterious hero that united the realms and drove the evil away. As Chrono looked into the void, he saw the ancient war unfold. He saw the White-Haired Warrior, and warriors from all of the realms united against the ancient shadow forces. He saw the legendary war machines battleing the massive black beasts. It was an epic battle.
But something was wrong...
One by one the darkness was growing, and the warriors of Greenhaven, Aquatus, and Magnarok were falling. "This isn't what I remember from the stories." Chrono thought. At that moment, as warriors were falling left and right, One of the warriors turns and locks eyes with Crono. It was an older, more experienced Chrono. "This is not your past. This is your future!" A wave of explosive energy heads towards the aged Water Time Lord. "The ancient darkness is returning..." Moments before the energy wave completely envelops his future self and the remaining warriors, Chrono's last message to himself was "You have to get stronger... You hav" Chrono's mind is pulled from the vision, as his reality is restored. This vision leaves Chrono in shock.Days later, Chrono decides to leave his island village, against his family's wishes. The Time Lord's line of reasoning is if he is to become stronger, he'll have to find a place to train, and form aliances with other warriors to prevent his vision from coming true. Chrono takes his Chrono Scepter, and a small raft and heads off on his quest. He eventually makes it to a Harbortown that has a submarine that leads him to an island with a Portal to Greenhaven Forest Realm. Through luck or destiny, Chrono finds his way through the forest to the Guru's Training Facility.
