Hi, my name is Ana and I am a new member to the guild. I would love to make friends and hang out here. However, everytime I am on no one else is. Anyone who may wanna talk and be active with me, please list the times (and time zone) you are on. I would really appreciate it.

Oh I also have a question for mom's with older kids. I have a 2 year old son and I am worried for him when he starts school. My grandmother and mother are both Wiccans and their rule has always been not to have the kids be aware of it until their 14th birthday. Even though this is tradition in my family. I was wondering how some other mom's and dad's have handled the crulity of other kids.

Eight words the Wiccan Rede fufill,

I would love to be active with you. I am going to actually be starting my own guild for teaching people what i know. I have been trying to help some teenagers cause alot of people in other try to say it is alright to tamper with peoples wll. I dont think so. Anyways, I am Luna Raven. I would love to be active with ya. I am normally on atleast once in the morning (I am est, it is 3:39 pm right now) and once in the afternoon, and once at night. Basically in between job hunting. I have a little 2 year old, will be three in june. I posted a pic of me my husband and my son on my profile if you would like to see. I would love to help make this guild more active, it is nice to see pagan and wiccan mothers like myself.

And as far as your question goes, I feel that if you hide it from them for so long it doesnt give them a chance to develop pride about it, or learn enough about it to defend themselves when high strung christians tell them they are wrong. I dont know that is just my opinion. I am slowly showing my son things even now. For example trying to give him a love of nature as a start.

I would love to be active with you, I am usually on all day, though my day now starts around 12-2 pm MST and ends around 4-5 in the morning.

Waiting until the child is 14 has only about one advantage that I can think of. It is that by that age the child is then able to make a decision for themselves about whether or not it is the right way for them. However, what I am doing with my daughter is that I am already showing her things from different religions (she is only 1) and I will continue doing that until she is around 12-14 so that she can make the decision for herself about which is best for her. Though I would like for her to follow my steps, I also want her to find her own way.

Oh yay! Thank you to both of you. I am on really whenever I have spare time. Usally in the mornings from about 7:00am - 11:00am. (roughly) Then again at night at about 8:00pm till about 10:00pm or so. Tonight I wont cause it's my husbands birthday, but tomorrow for sure. Oh, and I am in CST.

Oh, and thanks for you opions they are both great. I feel alot like both of you. I just think that I could have had a better understanding if I would have learned earlier in my life.

Sorry ladies, I have been sooooo sick the last couple days. I may not be on for another like two or three. Maybe, someone has a natural cure for cough and sore throat. I am dying here. I just moved so I cant find anything I need to to look it up.

Eight words the Wiccan Rede fufill,

In cases of being sick, I normally rely on herbal medicine. They were gifts from the goddess, and we might as well use them right. heh.

Fever: Apple water can be a good drink for bringing down a mild fever. A decoction of apple bark can also be used to cool high fevers.

Sore Throat: Treat a sore throat by gargling with a ginger infusion or sucking on a ginger candy. Remember that a little goes a long way! Try the ginger candy recipe under the culinary uses of ginger.

Cold and Flu: You can make a gargle from a few grains of cayenne powder added to a cup of water to help fight symptoms of winter sicknesses, especially a sore throat. Here is a wonderful recipe for preventing the fly and staving off symptoms in people who've already caught it:

Antiflu Preparation

* 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
* 1½ teaspoons sea salt or common salt
* 1 cup boiling water
* 1 cup apple cider vinegar

Grind together the cayenne pepper and salt to form a paste. Add boiling water (or some strong, strained chamomile tea). Steep and cool. Add the vinegar to the water. Most adults can take between a teaspoon to a tablespoon every half hour. If it seems too strong, dilute it.

(From Herbal Medicine by Dian Dincin Buchman)

Here is a great list of herbal remedies for different ailments. It is called Spirit Online. http://web.archive.org/web/20060509100450/www.spiritonline.com/files/messages/630/643.html?966999275

Here are many different remedies that house hold herbs are used in. Hope this helps. Oh and the cold and flu remedies, has a little kick to it. But it works wonders.
