History:
Julian left home at an early age to join the Tanner Hall. It has taken him many turns to get the basics down. Even though he has seemed to have a problem with getting the basics down he has shown determination. His Master approves of his will not to give up and so has not kicked him out of the Hall as a failure.
He often returns home during breaks, to visit his family. When he does he tells stories to his younger siblings and helps out around the house. As part of his allowance he sends home a couple of the hides he helps to cure. One day he dreams of being able to supply his family with fine leathers to use and dress in.
Then one day out of the blue, a blue dragon descends upon the hall. Julian had been escorting several new students around the grounds, and they all stopped to watch. He felt his eyes widen when the blue looked directly at him. His jaw dropped when the rider actually came over to speak to him. At first he couldn't graps what the rider was saying as the kids began to scream and jump around excitedly. Then it sunk in. He had been Searched for High Reaches. It was in a daze they, the rider and him, went to talk to his master then he was taken to the fabled High Reaches Weyr. He couldn't believe he had been Searched. What dragon would want him?
Appearance:
Julian is a lad of medium height at a bare 5 feet, bordering on the short side. He’s stocky and well suited to lifting heavy loads. His hair is a rust brown and maintained short cropped. It tends to go in any direction giving it a continuous mussed look. As far as clothing goes, he likes to dress simply by wearing a loose brown tunic with laces around the neck usually undone. His pants are fairly tight so that his legs will fit snugly into his boots. The boots are high to keep unpleasant fluids off his pants.
Personality:
Julian has a caring disposition. He hardly raises his voice and then only to warn someone of danger. When a new apprentice arrives at the Tanner Hall he will take the young boy, or girl, under his wing. Because he is kind and sweet he is easy to trust. He has a fondness for sweets, so much so that he doesn’t mind trying to snitch one before dinner. This often as not gets him into trouble with the chefs and assigned to wash dishes for the next day.
His favorite smell is that of finished leather. For this alone he loves his work. Though he puts his mind to it memorizing takes him forever. He’s not dull by any means it just takes him awhile to truly absorb information. Unfortunately to get it into his thick brain he must perform the task many, many times. His soft heart makes it hard for him to slaughter and skin an animal. Once the hide is removed he’s completely fine. He likes it best when someone is there to do the “dirty work” for him.
Just because someone is older than him doesn't equate to supreme knowledge. Julian will test someone in a higher position than himself to be sure they're not just throwing it around and actually know what they're talking about. He wont take it authority just laying around until they have earned it from him. How the test is presented is dependent upon the person.
When it comes to the opposite sex, Julian has a hard time. He tends to blurt out, straight to the point, what he's feeling. It's not very romantic and unless told equally bluntly by the lady in question he's practically clue-less as to what she wants.

Just a few little things and you're good to go!
- How did he get to the Weyr? If you're intending to have him Searched in-play then your history is fine as it is, but if you want to play him right away in the Weyr then I like to know about how he was Searched (how did he feel, did he ever think of being a dragonrider before, etc).
- I also need to see one more flaw. Slow-learner I will accept as the one, but being soft-hearted is in the same kind of category as "too nice" or "too caring."
Just sort of looking at his personality overall, if you perhaps added more on his feelings towards authority or perhaps romantic feelings those would be two areas that you could stick another flaw in. <3

Oh thanks. I was having a hard time with that one. Preference towards being Searched please. If no one's able to rp it with me then I'll gladly change his history. HRW does need a tanner don't they? I put HRW cause that's where I'd like him to go, sorry for the confusion.
smile I was worried that his "slow-learner" might make him unsuitable as a candidate. I'm glad it doesn't.

We have no riders at HR who are signed up for being able to Search, and I don't generally play any of the NPCs there since it's Noya's Weyr. It might just be easier to write it into the history, but I mean you could ask in the thread if anyone wants their rider to sign up as a Searchrider so that they can Search him. It's entirely up to you. <3

razz If he impresses a dragon maybe I'll make him a searchrider. Put in him getting searched. Figure to start just after he's arrived there.
