i brush my boys a couple times a week and at first they hated it but after a while they have learned to love it. i use an electric toothbrush and let it vibrate when i brush them. they prefer the vibrating ones, i guess it feels good.
the fiance thinks its weird but they like it and they always get what they want

When I still had mine I would occasionally brush them with a baby brush that had super-soft bristles, and they loved it. They would always groom each other when I was done, though. xd

I never groom my rats razz They do a great job themselves, so I leave that to them, unless they get into something messy, then a quick bath is all they get.
I tend to just give lots of scritches :3

I only "brush" them on occasion when I play with them with a small and soft bristled baby brush. It causes them to get hyper and try to wrestle with the brush or my hand, or play tug-o-war with the brush and drag it off. I don't have much need to brush the hairless ones, so that's definitely just for play. =P If they are really tired/sleepy, sometimes I will also "brush" them and they seem to find it soothing, depending on their moods at the time. =3
