has anyone yet watched this series I am un sure just how nessicarly new or old this is, I was watching the first episode on Anime Network on Demand off my digital cable and omg yes totally feel in love with it. its sound weird of me I know but I was almost wanting to jump up and down cause this just totally fits Yuri and its fairly main stream and I know things like that are sort of few and far between to happen with Yuri, or at least I thought I had heard that.
but I was just totally physched about it, the plot line is basically "The story centers on a sophomore named Kanako who enrolls in all-girls school because she has a phobia of men and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating freshman named Mariya who fits her criteria — except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a cross-dressing sadistic boy." (from anime news network) but yeah just was wondering if anyone else was watching this along with me lol cause yes its adorable and I Loves it!

For the record, this is based on ten or so chapters of the manga I read a while back. I hear the anime's better, but I'm not especially interested in watching it.
In all honesty, I hate Maria Holic. I love dark humor, but the series has no understanding of how to properly pull it off. Mariya's threatening and abusing Kanako isn't funny, and the fact that readers are supposed to view it as comedic doesn't sit well with me. I'm also not fond of the homophobia in the series since it's treated the same way. When the series isn't torturing Kanako I found it incredibly boring.
So yeah, this series being a "mainstream yuri series" doesn't seem that great to me, especially since 2009 had several really great yuri series to counter MH. Not that there's anything I can do about what does and doesn't become mainstream, though. /rant

well I think lately I have just been kind of out of the loop of things so mostly anything I watch or read is usually main stream but if you all have any better yuri suggestions to check out it I would be totally open to that idea. yes I know i am sort of sappy but I do tend to like the more light hearted stuff when it comes to romance even in yuri. But then again other people very different likes or dis likes.

I stay away from it like the plague. A boy dressed as a girl who is to eventually end up with an androphobic girl.. Err, Yuri? I think not.
