Val sat on a bench near the bakery reading a book in the sunlight. He leaned back and stretched as he looked around and watched the others move around him on their way about their own business. He smiled softly as he crossed his leg, adjusted his hanging sleeves, and returned to reading his book.Spicy Marmalade! Now that it's exploded into being, seize hold of this evening's chance.

 Shu Li had been running around, chasing birds and not paying attention to anything until she saw a flash of white and red. It was another Heila, sitting at a bench with a book. She wondered what he was reading. Without a second thought, Shu stopped chasing pigeons and trotted over to the one in the red hat. "Hi!" she said and waved when she stood in front of him. "I'm Shu Li. What's your name?"

Val looked up as he heard something getting closer, and closed his book again, keeping his finger in the pages. "Oh hello. My name is Valraven, my family calls me Val though, so your welcome to. What brings you out here?" He asked even as he eyed the scared looking birds that were all behind her. He smiled softly and pushed some of his hair back as he curled his tail into his lap.

Shu Li smiled. "Nice to meet you, Val!" she said brightly. "You can call me Shu, if you like!" She fidgeted on the spot for a moment before taking a seat next to him on the bench. "Boredom, I suppose, I just couldn't find anything to do inside, so I came outside and the birds were there and I needed to get rid of some energy," she giggled, hiding her smile behind a hand. "What about you?"

Val smiled at Shu and listened to her story. "Oh well that sounds exciting." he said as he looked over her. "I've just been sitting here for a while reading. Like you i had nothing else to do so i came out here to get some sun and read." He frowned and pulled her hand from her mouth. "Don't hide a pretty smile like that." he said with a bright smile of his own.

Shu Li nodded, "It was fun, but I got distracted by your sleeves," she giggled again, then blushed. "You think I have a pretty smile?" she asked, eyes bright. She wasn't used to compliments, but she liked the little rush that came with it.

Val looked at her and smiled as he looked at his sleeves. "I get distracted by them alot too. They are pretty arnt they?" he asked as he lifted his arm and waved them. "And you have a very pretty smile. I think everything about you is pretty! I do like the color purple alot. I made a purple cake with violet icing once." he said with a smile as he folded his book under his arm.

"I bet you do! I know I would," she giggled lightly and poked at his sleeves as he waved them about. She blushed a little. "You're really nice!" she said. Her eyes and smile widened as he described the cake he'd made. "Ooh! I bet that was a pretty one! My cakes don't always look good, I get told that the colors I pick don't go together," she said a little sadly and shook her head.
