The Enemies [When you slide off the Yachoo and hit beautiful, beautiful solid ground, you decide that you have had better traveling experiences. Obviously, that bedamned Amethyst Beast Keeper had no idea of what the hell she had been doing. The worst part, you decide then, has already passed.
Maribella, who had arrived before you, smiles brightly as you arrive and the Yachoo is escorted to the resting den.] Maribella: Hello! It's good to see you got here safe! Allow me to inform you of some monsters that we'll be expecting to see in this region. [She takes out some pictures and shows them to you, allowing you to study them as she speaks.]Enemy One: Barruka Giant Maribella: Barruka Giants are basically the larger, more dangerous version of the classic, livestock-style Barruk, which can be seen in the bottom left of the picture. They tend to be lonesome creatures, but can gather by the hundreds during mating season. Barruka Giant Stats
Strength: Physical, Speed
Weakness: The massive pouch below the jawline, but good luck getting to it.
Habits: Singular creatures, the Barruka Giants are immune to several forms of magic, but not all. They are omnivorous.
Any Special Traits?: The Barruka Giant is famous for trampling miles of meadow into dust in a single rampage, and swords are worthless against its iron-tough skin.Enemy Two: Thorn-Lion Maribella: Because we're going to be traveling through a very flora-healthy area, expect to see some grass and earth-themed monsters. Thorn-Lions are masters of disguise, and are very, very patient. They're a favorite for guarding homes and treasure when regular dogs aren't available. Fortunately or unfortunately for us though, they are completely silent. Thorn-Lion Stats
Strength: Deception, Stealth
Weakness: Flame
Habits: Thorn-Lions are not against basking in the sun all day. They don't require food, but they are still very vicious.
Any Special Traits?: They are silent, and stay alive by using photosynthesis. The bone-like structures that create the beast are actually mutated plant cells.Enemy Three: Warrior Ant Maribella: These guys have the habit of prowling around ruins in search of passersby. It's not unusual in this part of the world to see smaller, weaker villages completely massacred because of the insane hunger of this insect. Good thing is though, their multiplication rate is slow, so instead of mounds of thousands or millions, they only have nests of several hundred. Warrior Ant Stats
Strength: Numbers, strength
Weakness: Hunger
Habits: Warrior Ants have to constantly eat, so they always have a pouch of food on them at all times that their bodies routinely draw nutrients from. They can only go for a few minutes with an empty life-preserve.
Any Special Traits?: Warrior Ants have the intelligence of an average human, and the battle strategies to match. Their stingers are poisonous with an infamous one-sting kill. Maribella: Now that you know your enemies, let's see who your charge is going to be. [She motions to a girl behind her, and suddenly your eyes are attacked by a massive blaze of color, and you only have one thought: YELLOW.]The Charge  Name: Shadahlé

~Trust-me-nots~ It did not take long for Hana to reach her destination. She knew quite a few scientists these days, and they always seemed to be willing to help her get places. They were such delightful humans, really, and they had such a wonderful relationship. Hana allowed for them to study some of her poisons for their research, and they helped her get to wherever she needed to be. She had to admit that it was much better than trying to travel like a normal vampire. Such traditional methods were terribly boring. Of course, the new technology could only take her so far. She couldn't get to the destination that way. For the last leg where she met up with the group, she had to take a Yachoo. She suspected it would have been a bad flight had she not...punished the bird's wild behavior a few times. Nothing permantently damaging, just a few sedatives to make it stop flying like a crazed beast.
Naturally now, the first thing Hana did after she sent the slightly sleepy Yachoo back was to dash quickly over to Maribella. She enveloped the girl in a hug, beaming wildly. "Why, Sweetfang! How dear to see you again. How have you been darling? You still smell of cinnamon. You must tell me how you achieve that." She chuckled girlishly as she pulled away before turning to the...yellow...girl she would be protecting. Why my, she did seem as though she would be trouble. Was it horrible that Hana was hoping that the Warrior Ants tried to attack her first? Probably. Oh, but she so did want to sample some of their poison. She suspected that it was delicious.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, dear." She held her hand out danitly to be shook. It was easy to forget for a moment that her hand was probably strong enough to crush the average skull. "I see you like pandas, they're darling creatures."
Sometimes, when Hana was so civil and chatty like this, it was easy for even her to forget how sincerely crazy she was. Of course, that never did last very long. Some odd thought always popped into her mind sooner or later. She wondered which it would be this time...

I tried to move with a cool hand...
It didn't go as I planned.
I'm full of rookie maneuvers...
and gestures meant to be grand.
 "My daisy, you make me go crazy, forever amaze me.
Now let's let the day go lazy."Maribella smiled warmly at Hana, returning the embrace, though not with so much energy as her fellow vampire.
"Oh, I haven't seen you in ages, Hana!" She cooed. "Please, why do you still insist on calling me by Sweetfang? Surely we are more than merely acquaintances!" She beamed at Hana, stepping out to hold the other woman's hands up in her own between them. "And I carry a cinnamon stick on my person at all times, of course!" She winked at Hana. "You should try it sometime. You look like a peppermint kind of person."
Shadahlé blinked in surprise at being spoken to so easily, but then she beamed at Hana, raising her hand to return the shake.
"You like pandas too?" she replied in earnest. "So awesome! Finally- someone who feels the way I do!" She gave Hana a strong, firm handshake. "I am Shadahlé. It's so great to meet you too!" "My daisy, you know what I'm after- your musical laughter.

Untamable and uncontrollable by everyone but those born to it.Rinarth stumbled up to the others. "Oh man.....Now I remember why I walk everywhere." He muttered to himself. He ran one hand through his blonde hair, accidentally gathering a palm full of sparks. He looked at the dancing bits of lightning, then closed his fist over them, drawing the power back into his body.
Shaking his head, he looked up at the others and grinned. " 'Ello there Maribella." He glanced at the other two, nodding in greeting. "Should be an interesting trip." He said with a laugh. The bug sitting on his shoulder buzzed in agreement. Though Voltera was still technically a lightning bug, he was bigger than the average bug. While most of the species was tiny, Voltera was almost the length of an adult human's hand, many times larger than his counterparts.  Rinarth and Voltera

Now let's let the day go lazy." Maribella gave a gracious, welcoming nod to Rinarth as his companion on the trip slipped off the yachoo as well, stumbling a bit before retaining her balance.
"Always a pleasure, Rinarth my dear," Maribella replied warmly as Shadahlé waved cheerfully at him. "And I see Voltera is present as well. How lovely. It's good to see that you two are both well."
Then she noticed the other woman that had accompanied the group, and blinked.
"Oh?" Slowly, she walked over to the younger female, and smiled. "Why, hello there." She held out a gentle hand. "I remember you from the roof. But I fear I do not remember your name."
The girl kept her eyes low, a bit shy at first.
"My name..." she breathed as she lifted her arm and hesitantly took Maribella's hand in hers. "My name is Sora."A NEW NPC APPEARS!

"Well, it's a pleasure my dear," Maribella replied, making Soraya instantly fight a scowl off her face. "I trust you will make a lovely companion."

He turned his gaze towards Shadahle, taking in the girl he was supposed to help protect. "Suppose I should officially introduce myself, despite Maribella just saying our names." He said with a small laugh. "I'm Rinarth Velon. And that's my partner Voltera." He gestured to the bug clinging to his shoulder before holding out his hand to the girl. " 'Tis a pleasure to meet you." He had already completely forgotten that he was recently playing with his electricity with that hand, something that usually left small traces around, much like static electricity. Nothing really harmful, but certainly enough to get someone's attention. Normally Rinarth was more careful but his mind had already moved onto other things regarding the job. Rinarth and Voltera

If she had experienced the static electricity, she gave no sign. It was like the energy had vanished.

He buzzed in a few close circles around Shadahle, completely ignoring the concept of personal space. "Voltera! What have I told you about manners?" Rinarth snapped at him, appalled. He reached out to catch the bug in both hands, ignoring the electricity sparking out from Voltera's body. "Stop it. I've told you before. You may know more about lightning but your people skills suck." He lectured his partner with a frown. He glanced up apologetically at Shadahle. "Sorry. He does it to get a better look at people, as he's so small, but he doesn't seem to grasp the idea that it's rude." He seemed completely unaffected by the lightning sparks coming from between his fingers where he held the bug. Rinarth and Voltera

Shadahlé blinked at Rinarth and then to the bug in his hands, and she started giggling madly.
"Oh, it's totally no big deal at all," she replied through her laughter, madly flapping a hand in what was supposed to be a dismissive gesture. "I actually thought that was rather cute of him." she leaned down a little so she was eye-level with Voltera. "Hey there little bug! You're cute!"
After shaking her hand, Maribella drifted back to Hana and thus allowing Soraya some space.
She looked over at Rinarth in time to see the sparks shooting out rebelliously in between his fingers as something glowed within them.
His lightning bug. She thought in awe, never having met one like herself before. So he is a Lightning Elementalist too. The first one I've ever seen.
"Don't get too close," her own familiar, Shiva, advised her from where he hid, wrapped loosely around her neck like a piece of living jewelry. "His lightning is on a different wave length than yours. Stay a save distance."
Soraya scowled a little in disappointment, took a single rebellious step, but followed her familiar's advice and didn't close the distance.
Shiva was the only one she would listen to when she was outside the castle. He was the only one who knew what he was talking about.
Shadahlé looked over her shoulder, saw Soraya, and waved cheerfully, making the Lightning Elementalist inwardly wince.
Great. She thought dryly as Shiva buzzed slightly in annoyance. I may be from Lightning, but dammit I'm not into yellow!
She was more of a GOLD kinda person.
"Hey there!" Shadahlé called as Soraya adjusted the bow where it was hooked on her shoulder, keeping her eyes down. "Are you part of the mission too? Hiiiii!!"
Annoyed already and trying to exercise what little patience she was born with, Soraya waved reluctantly to the other girl, and managed a weak smile. "My daisy, you know what I'm after- your musical laughter.

He asked, letting his hands open. Voltera sparked once more, just to be annoying, the flew up to settle on the elementalist's shoulder. "Thank you." He muttered in mock exaggeration.
He smiled as he watched Shadahle suddenly switch her attention to Sora. "Just full of energy, isn't she?" He murmured quietly to Voltera. "We're going to have to watch her carefully." Was the response from the bug. "She looks like the kind of girl who would get into trouble the moment someone took their eye off her." The comment made Rinarth laugh quietly. "Hey, we knew it wouldn't be easy. At least she's not gloomy and depressing." He pointed out cheerfully. Rinarth and Voltera

I walked away.
And it was the right thing.
I know it was.  Evana was extremely unamused as she finally got her balance again after sliding off the Yachoo. She'd considered just flying herself. Should have done it. But she'd changed her mind at the last second - why? She couldn't exactly recall. Some unknown worry reason, probably something about wasting energy she would need later. And the penalty for not sticking with what she was good at had been the Yachoo Flight from Hell. So busy cursing the name of the Amethyst Keeper (whose name, incidentally, she hadn't caught) and every Yachoo she ever trained for the rest of her life, it took her a few minutes to notice the rest of the group. She examined Shadahlé in silence for a little while, then smiled briefly at Maribella. The nausea was fading, and she was becoming more agreeable as it went away - although not quite enough to stop loathing their pilot. Sometimes folk really ought to branch away from their roots, if they were that mind-numbingly bad at what they did. Her gaze flicked briefly across the faces of the others, trying to place them. Eventually, she shrugged to herself. This couldn't be the worst quest she'd ever done - of course, the worst one she'd ever done, she was technically still on... Never mind. I’m not sorry, I’m not.

~Trust-me-nots~ When you are as old as Hana, you forget things. People, places, events. It was only natural. What you did not forget, however, was royalty. They stayed with you out of respect. Hana could still name every royal she had ever come across, and she had come across a lot. Elders did not like to travel. It was sad, but true. They much preferred to stay at home and plot and have their pawns, like herself, do their bidding. Hana did not mind. They were all very old, even by vampire standards. While they were still impeccably strong, they were tired creatures. Interesting, powerful, tired creatures. Fearsome when roused, but hard to do so in the first place. So, naturally, when Hana saw Soraya, she recognized her at once. She had been sent as an embassador of the elders when the girl was born. She wasn't as important as her brothers, after all, so it had been okay to send an underling. Her alias, Hana had to say, was weak. Cute in a naive way. Of course, she'd had to tell anyone who she really was. Things were more interesting this way, no?
If there was one thing she remembered though, it was that the girl most definitely delt with lightening. Only, her familiar was hiding itself. While it would have been fun to try and find him, Hana wasn't interested. Oh my. It did so seem that so many people were hiding things here. How terribly interesting.
"I do believe this may end up as one of my favorite missions, dearest, Maribella. Just think of all the interesting things that could happen. I must say that I'm excited already."
