Name: Jhulzyne Auvryana
Age: 313
Race: Drow
Class: Warrior
Religion: Lloth
Appearance: Jhulzyne, in his adolescence, was always smaller than other Drow his age, but at this point in his life has overcome this physical shortcoming by building up his muscles and combat abilities. He is still short, as he will always be, but what he lacks in height he makes up for in brute strength. He keeps his silver hair at just passed shoulder length, because he has discovered that if it becomes any longer it will get in the way during battle. Like most Drow, his eyes are red, and like some, he is covered with various battle scars. The most significant scar stretches from the upper right corner of his chest diagonally down to midway across his stomach.
Background History: Despite the efforts of the priestesses of House Auvryana, they have never been in Lloth’s favor. Maybe many, many years ago they were a powerful force in the Underdark, but those times are long gone, and now, House Auvyrana merely scrapes by. It doesn’t help their situation that, since the chances of becoming more powerful outside of the House are slim, there is much treachery within it. Trust is a dangerous thing in any Drow society, but here, to trust is to undoubtedly seal your fate.
It is here where Jhulzyne was born, the first son of the newly appointed Matron Mother of House Auvryana. It was a rare occurrence, because of the fact that Jhulzyne had a twin sister. Drow twins are rare; if they are conceived, in the womb one will usually kill the other, but for some reason, Jhulzyne and his sister, Elesti, were different. As they grew, the bond between them did as well, and throughout the short reign of their mother, the two remained close.
A little over 100 years their mother remained in power over the house. Then, abruptly, she was overthrown by a fellow Auvryana priestess. Of course, her children would be the next to go, so Jhulzyne and Elesti were captured and brought to the new Matron. In the end, she decided it would be amusing to tell Elesti she could live, on one condition: if she killed her brother. Without hesitation, she attacked Jhulzyne with a spell, and took him by surprise, but his survival instinct quickly kicked in, and he ended up winning the battle. He also managed to flee the scene, since the Matron was surprised by the outcome of the fight, giving him a small opportunity to escape.
He fled lower into the Underdark, away from the Drow, where he found a new companion. A lone Myconid, a creature he had only heard stories about, and which he had also heard live in closely knit groups. Why this one was alone, he does not know; he knows almost nothing about the Myconid, except that it obviously likes Jhulzyne’s company. It doesn’t speak, and doesn’t even appear to listen, but for some reason it tags along wherever Jhulzyne goes. Recently, he has decided to go upwards, back towards where the Drow make their home. Whether anything good will come of this, however, is still unknown.
Items: He has nothing special at the moment, only his weapons and the worn armor he wears.
Combat:
Weaponry: Typically, his weapon of choice would be his short sword, but he also keeps with him a hand crossbow, which fires darts. He has had brief training in spear-fighting, and hand to hand combat as well, but again, he would always prefer his sword.
Skills or Powers: Being a skilled duelist, Jhulzyne has developed various tactics in battle, based around his best abilities. His strength and his dodging speed are what he has trained to utilize most. First, he wears down his enemy by moving in, purposely leaving an opening, then dodging the enemy’s blows over and over, and once he decides they have been worn down sufficiently, he changes to the offensive and delivers numerous swift, powerful blows.
Jhulzyne is also stealthy. When a quick, silent kill is needed, he can handle it very well, and go undetected, but he still prefers the adrenaline rush of face-to-face combat over killing from the shadows.
Combat Weakness: Jhulzyne has a strong temper, and when he is angered he can often be impulsive and make decisions in battle that he wouldn’t make when thinking straight. Something as simple as an insult in the middle of a duel will set him off, and unfortunately for him, he will forget his fighting tactics and use sheer force. This hasn’t cost him his life, so far, but he does have various battle scars from unconsciously leaving openings for his opponent during a battle.
Pets: The myconid isn’t exactly a pet, more like a companion, but because it follows him and will defend him, it could be thought of as a pet… a Myconid is a humanoid fungus creature, which looks a lot like an enormous mushroom with arms and legs. This particular one is a pale gray color, and seven feet tall.
