Spazz's 'journal' is actually more of a sketch book. Bound in strong black leather, and filled with 200 9" x 9" sheets of blank white paper, the empty book caught his eye as he passed through a city on the way to the academy. A strange woman, the owner of the shop, handed him four of them, telling him two were for him, and two were for his brother.
Before he could tell her his brother wasn't with him or, more importantly, ask how she knew he had a brother, she pushed him out of the shop and slammed the door behind him. He didn't have to pay.
After pulling the leather chord that held one of the books closed off, he was shocked to find not his name, but a beautifully scribed version of his nickname on the front page in blue and black ink. In a box the woman had set on top of the books, he found two black, quill pens, and eight bottles of electric blue ink.
Thoroughly freaked out, Spazz continued on his way, tucking the new materials away in his pack to be used when he settled down.
