This particular Sabbat has always been sort of a "lesser" one for me. The family and I usually have a bonfire or something, but other than that, I don't do much. I always feel like all the rest of the Sabbats have these grand purposes, and then this one is sort of the odd one out. So for me it's the "relaxing" one - the chill out between all the "planting" and the "harvesting".

I am going to pass out. Winter Solstice means two rituals, plus I had Mother Night last night and there's ten more small blots before Yuletide's end.
I have my Midwinter rite yet to go and I'm trying to psych myself up for it. It's quite late at night and I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open!

Actually, I'm feeling a bit lost on this one. For the last few years I've attended the open circle rituals held by a local pagan group. When I started going, I had no particualr path so it worked well enough and it was a good place to gain info on different paths and whatnot. However more and more I've realized that thier events, while wonderfuly informative and inviting, really aren't what I need for my practice. I use them as social events and get nothing out of the rituals. They're just not for me. With no other Heathens about that leaves me to figure out what I'm doing on my own and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Heathen holidays confused me for a long time because of how "folk" they are in the sense that there are no set deities to worship. You can honour whomever you feel most appropriate. But that's tricky when you're not sure whom you want to honour!

This one went rather well. Summer solstice has always been my favorite Holy-day. Unfortunately I didn't get to do everything I wanted to because my mother-in-law stayed up late last night.

I am looking forward to Yule. Though I recently moved and i'm not involved with my old coven anymore. I've always had the guidance of the elders in my coven and now i'm not sure if I could celebrate Yule alone. My family isn't Wiccan, only me.

You can still celebrate Yule - it won't be a Wiccan ritual, but it may satisfy your own needs. Help me out here, though - are you 14 years of age, like it claims in your profile? I find it hard to believe that any coven would properly initiate a 14-year old into Wicca.

By family I was meaning my mother and father. My aunt is Wiccan and I have been learning from her coven since I was 10. After three and a half years I asked to be initiated and I was granted my wish. Though shortly after, I moved. I apologize for the confusion in my former post.

I'm excited for Yule, thought I won't be able to do much for it. I can never do very much for Sabbats since I'm the only Pagan in the family. And my parents don't really support me. But I'm definitely gonna try to do something. At least a meditation or some little craft. Anything to make this special.

I apologize for the confusion in my former post. This further calls into question the validity of said coven as Wiccan, at least to me. A lineaged coven of a valid tradition will not initiate a minor - it violates the Ardanes. Wicca is a fertility cult. it isn't appropriate for children. The vast majority of covens won't look at a person until they're 18 - some wait until 21. I've no doubt that it's a valid coven in its' own right, and that you were initiated in its' own ways. But I have my doubts as to whether it was actually Wicca - it seems more likely to be eclectic neo-pagan witchcraft, mislabelled. All of which is derailing this thread, for which I apologize. My previous comments still stand - you may not have a coven to work with, but you can always do -something- that satisfies yourself, alone.

Why not stay up and greet the dawn on the day of the solstice? Witnessing the Sun reborn is an incredible Mystery, and one that is freely available to all.

I guess where I'm from things work a bit differently. Regardless, thank you for the advice.

Lumi Belle Well whatever your opinions may be, I respect them. I guess where I'm from things work a bit differently. Regardless, thank you for the advice. Not with Wicca wink The rules are the same - some covens have different ways of doing things or add extra rules, I think, but that particular rule is pretty well set. Younger than 18 rarely if ever happens, and 14 would be out of the question. It's simply below the age of sexual consent everywhere except Spain.... Wiccan covens have to obey local laws. What tradition is your aunt's coven?
