The day was unseasonably warm for the time of the changing leaves. Still the young Captain wandered the fringes of the Seireitei pack lands. He had left his Vice-Captain back at the base to do whatever she wanted, didn't much matter to him. Frankly he liked the alone and quiet time, allowed him to think. Turning away from the fringes Captain Hitsugaya wandered back inwards long one of the less used trails. Hoping to remain out of the sight of others at the moment. Then again he was headed to check on Rukia and her little ones, given he didn't trust that 'mate' of hers as far as he could throw him.
Many thoughts sent his mane of hair standing on sharper spikes then normal before he forced himself to calm down and reclaim his cool composure. Blue eyes set forwards and small changed Crescent beating against his paw, he headed ever inwards, not expecting to be using the day as a training teacher...

 Hotaru was sulking. She'd deny it if confronted, but the facts remained. Stupid Kaien! He always won all of their fights. Sure she'd won the last one, but only because she cheated. He totally had it coming, the booger brain, but she couldn't cheat all the time. It just wasn't a proper win.
And it wasn't just Kaien... she was the smallest. The baby. She hated that. She'd show them! She'd be bigger and tougher than everybody else, all mixed together. Or maybe not bigger... but definitely a better fighter. Kaien would never, ever pin her again. Nobody would. Ever.
But who could teach her? Da was no good, and ma might want to teach her siblings too. She needed somebody all to herself, some kind of edge. But who?

The path from the boarders lead the young captain close to Hotaru's perch. Stopping a moment to shake the hair from his face, dark blue eyes caught sight of the young pup from Ichigo and Rukia. Straightening himself up some, he turned towards Hotaru. "Something troubling you?" he asked, the same coldness he showed to everyone seeping into his voice. "brothers being a pain again?" Not that he knew of her problem, but he had heard in other places of brothers always ganging up on their sisters to make them upset. Often times, he wanted to smack the pups up side the head to get them to know better.
Sitting his hindquarters to the ground, he watched the young pup. Ears pulling themselves forwards to listen to the responses that would come his way. Being the Captain of a squad didn't have much authority with family disputes, still he could give a listening ear.

Hotaru turned at the sound of another's footsteps, ready to explain to her ma or da that she was most certainly not sulking. But it wasn't either of them... which meant it had to be one of her many uncles. A new one she hadn't met. Could he fight?
"Kaien is a booger," she explained. "He... he... we fight, and... and I only ever win when I do something I'm not supposed to. I haven't learnt to fight proper," she said, struggling to find the right words. "Uncle 'Enji says I can't let my brother beat me, I have to keep trying, but... but they think because I'm little I can't do nothing," she said angrily. "They think because I'm small I can't fight."
She scowled up at the strange male, daring him to question her abilities. She'd beat him up too, right and proper!
