Hey guys. How are you doing? I've decided to make this thread so no one will have to make threads asking where to get a simulation file, simulator, or any of that stuff.
I hope this helps out a lot and if you want me to add anything, please inform me and I will seek it out ASAP.
The following will be covered in this thread:
Simulators and links to them.
Descriptions of the simulators.
A picture dictionary displaying the different types of crossovers, turns,
noteskins, etc.
Links to popular simfile artists.
Links to megapacks.
Judge difficulties and ini edits.
Scoring grades and what they mean.

--Stepmania--
Arguably the greatest DDR simulator there is out there. (You're better off not arguing.) This simulator has come a long way from being, as far as I know, the first program to simulate the ddr experience. WELL. Although there are many other competitors, Stepmania takes the win. It is by far the best simulation of DDR ever. You can't beat it. Don't try. No, DWI is not better. I don't care if your computer can't run it. If your computer can't run it, you're outdated and you should slap Bill Gates because I said so. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. Until you lose. Then you'll just yell really harsh curse words at this game. I know from experience.

Regardless of it's title, it's been updated since 1998. Infact, I don't think it was even released in 1998. But what do I know? Anyway, this is the most popular IIDX simulator out there. It has many tweakable features like showing the LCD display like on the machine, or not. : D WOW! A revolution is made. Seriously, it's pretty good, but good luck trying to find some keysounding simfiles. I had a bit of a tough time. If anyone knows more on this simulator, please PM me with the information.

Wow. This site has come a very long way. Nevermind the s**t graphics on V1, it's ******** fun. Although for you average Stepmania lovers who just love to crank up high speed scroll rates, you're out of luck. From what I've read, they're not adding the scroll rates into V1 due to V2 coming out and it does support scroll rates. Sorry guys, but you're stuck with C300 on this one. It's not that bad. Anyway, once you get used to the scroll rate, everything is smooth sailing. For a little while. Gameplay picks up at a pretty quick pace and beginner songs are getting very scarce. Most simfiles are targeted at the some what experienced, to the masters. The songlists are awesome, and it's just damn good ol' fun. There's no downloading necessary, but if you sign up, it tracks your stats at the bottom, displaying how many games you've played, your overall rank over everyone (you can't top DJRIDDER, don't try. It's for your own good), and your total score from all the songs you've played.
--FlashFlashRevolution v2--
This version of FFR is more like Stepmania in the way it's laid out. Groove radar, speed mods (no Cmods), foot ratings, and so on. The downside is the number of songs. I also, personally, find the timing to be more strict than FFR v1 and Stepmania. If you AAA a song on heavy, or AAA Reality on standard, pat yourself on the back. You damn well deserved it.
--O2JAM--
O2JAM is pretty much like IIDX, minus the turntable and a big a** key in the middle which is usually mapped as the spacebar. O2JAM has a great song list and is stepped by many people whom play Stepmania. It's really good. It does have it's downsides though. In my own opinion, some of the songs that are rated low should be high and those rated high should be low. To me the rating is pretty unbalanced. The graphics are cool. You have a custom avatar and you can choose which place you want to O2JAM at. Each place has it's own unique flash when you hit they key correctly, combo number, and judgement font. Overall, O2JAM is pretty hot. Have fun waiting for the songs to download though. It can be pretty slooow.
--DJMAX--
DJMAX is O2JAM. Sorta. In my own opinion, I like DJMAX better. The rating system is solid, the scroll rate adjustments are perfect, the mods are cool, the noteskins are cool too, and you can even buy different themes for when you play and for your noteskins. You also can buy avatars when you play, but it comes with one already, depending if your gender is boy or girl. It's a black box that shows either a blue boy profile or a pink girl profile. DJMAX strays from O2JAM in one specific way. 5 key. Yes, DJMAX and not O2JAM has 5 key. Rejoyce, Beatmania lovers! 5 key is super mega fun and won't get old. Solid songlist and doesn't take as long to download all the songs. If you want a fun factor, DJMAX. If you want to be with the "in" crowd, O2JAM is where to be. Or both.

Whenever I download from a different website, it's like it's in a whole different format, and I can't seem to figure out how to install it into the game. Could someone please help?

Download WinRAR (google it, I'm lazy), save the song to your Songs folder, right click the song (the file should look like a stack of books), click Extract Here, load Stepmania, and have a enjoy.
