I'm probably going to discuss doing a senior thesis on the Extropian movement. If you have any thoughts on the matter, please feel free to post.

Extropian movement sounds very interesting. I'm researching it now. =3

Excellent!

I'm personally more in agreement with the Libertarian Transhumanist core of the Extropian ideology, primarily because socializing transhuman ideology would more than likely limit the amount of resources dedicated to what we constitute as vices or perversions, which themselves could lead to a variety of new technologies. While in the short run human beings would be safer under a liberal extropian movement, in the long run, free market models are more likely to succeed at accumulating the resources and being unethical enough to perform human experiments, such as eugenics, human cloning, or stem cell research. Although if 'freedom of expression' becomes a cornerstone of the New Extropian ethic, then human beings would still be able to conduct research on things like "blue hair" in addition to "stomach cancer" - because you know in some governments, the healthcare budget is limited and cancer always wins.

This is true. I propose that the best of both worlds be taken into account. Take the best parts of socialism, where the state has some regulation in order to keep large companies from dominating politics and economics, and the best of free market, where companies can exist under a regulated Free Enterprise ideology and free trade. Basically, we can distribute wealth and still have a free society... have your cake and eat it too. Of course, politics will need to be reformed to a more pure-democratic style than republican. Greek Democracy worked wonders, but then the Romans came along with their republic-flavoured imperialism.

Now eugenics has a bad rep due to Hitler and his genocidal methods, but I think eugenics can be done peacefully and actually done better by selective breeding methods. Embryo-screening seems to be a good one to me. Stem-Cell research will help us clone individual body parts. Human Cloning will give a rudimentary for of clinical immortality, until we perfect genetic engineering to the point of re-writing our genes so we can live indefinitely... it'll involve stabilising our telomeres (the "caps" of genetic material at the ends of our chromosomes). We age and deteriorate due to deterioration of the telomeres over time during cellular replication. Curb that, and we don't age as much.

And there are few things that truly unethical. Religions like Christianity have to be silenced or dissolved due to their high "moral" influence over politics, which has the power to govern scientific research. If there is a God, he never said genetic tampering is an evil thing, but His followers seem to think so and there therefore an annoying hindrance... get to read up on Nietzsche and they'll shut up lol.

if movies and various science fiction novels have taught me anything ... science cloning AI and all other advanced topics of religion vs science , is this science is not evil its how you wield that knowledge and power defines whether it is evil or not. and at some points i honestly think we deserve to be overthrown by our creations , because it could happen purely due to humanity's massive ego. E.G cloning organs and blood is not evil ... cloning whole people and using them as organ sacks ... not so good.

Exactly. A good analogy is that anything could potentially be used as a weapon, but whether it is actually used as such depends on the person in possession of it. It's all about ethics.

Why clone whole bodies just to use them as an organ incubator? Stem Cell research and the application thereof will bypass that altogether by making it possible to clone just the body part you need. You are your own perfect organ-doner, anyway. If the genetic make-up of the organ you made matches the recipient's genetic make-up, then the chances of organ rejection is reduced dramatically.

haha no i was just referencing "THE ISLAND" as a exsample of a movie that addresses the ethics of cloning. yeah im excited by the promises of stem cells, but the worlds first cloned sheep dolly died not long ago from health complications due to the cloning process so its a risk that latent gentic defects could potently arise.
