A new con in Lake Charles, LA, where i live, is having a con called Cyphacon. It'll be mostly a gaming/sci-fi, and anime convention. The first year was a blast and we are well away working for next year's event to make it better. For more info or questions either pm or comment on this forum or go to http://cyphacon.com/. Remember this is a new con so don't expect something like Mechacon but anybody in the SWLA and SE TX area feel free to come over!! Join our second year!

Update: I heard it may only last for one day maybe 2 days since Lake Charles isn't as big in the anime industry as New orleans or Lafeyette was(bull...) but if the con does appear and it gets a big crowd of anime fans or cosplayers it may get bigger and get more support!

The official date for the con is April 2011!! I'll be cosplaying for sure but nothing too fancy, I hope i can see you guys there!!

We might be able to make it if it lasts until the late night hours since we would be driving all the way there and back in one day.

Update: I got a connection to one of the people running cyphacon from a friend. I asked him when and where exactly it's going to be held. I found the con site also but it's still new and it's still being worked on. I'll keep everybody updated if i get a response from him/her! Cross your fingers everybody!

Update: Got an email back from the guy!!
He said The con will be April 16-17(saturday and monday), the 16th will be 10am-midnight and the 17 will be 10am-5pm. $15 admission for the whole weekend and all the money will be collected for the event revenue and for charity. The schedule is still in development and they are trying to bring a special guest but for now nobody is up. Of course they'll have an vendor alley, panels, and possibly an artist alley!
He's really excited about getting the email and how many people planning on supporting it!

It looks like it is too close to LouisiANIME for us to be able to make it. Josh wouldn't be able to get off two full weekends so close together in order to go to both conventions.
And if it does take place on a Monday, we both have school that day. That sucks. But we can still put up fliers around our campus for it if they have them to help advertise.

Charm: AWH! crying i hope next year we can hang out again like we did at mechacon! If they give us a better date lol
Oh, btw the con will be held most likely at a civic center so it won't be held at a hotel/convention center unless the con has a big crowd or they get enough money for this year to hold one. So anybody who plan on staying for that weekend Lake Charles has ALOT of hotels(nice too) for any budget since we are also a big gaming town.
