The research lab, wherein the Brotherhood strives to improve. There is one door in, and the same door is used to exit. As you enter, the main lab is filled mostly with workbenches. Four work benches sit evenly spaced over the center of the main section, lined by a series of computer interfaces on the left wall. The benches are, for the most part, covered in a series of works and scientific equipment. Tools strewn across the tops, among paperwork and the various experiments that are easily shown under the hanging lights that are set over each bench. The computers on the left wall are used for data collection and storage, data that is found on each experiment.

At the back right corner of the main room is a desk cluttered in the same fashion as each of the work benches. Paperwork mostly, aside from the occasional wrench that finds it's way there. Behind the desk is a standing suit of power armor, hands clasped together over the pommel of a microsledge that is balanced on the floor to keep the arms of the armor from hanging. Both the suit and desk are owned and kept by the paladin heading the research division.

Across the room from the desk, in the back left corner, is the door that leads to the back storage room which is locked at all times. Inside all the equipment and belongings to the lab are stored in lockers and cabinets. Other, larger, equipment is simply mounted in the back room for experiments to be brought in.

And there it is. Though it's still only partly finished, I'll just be updating it as it is used.

It is good to be back in my right place.

::Linak walks over to one of the workbenches and begins to take stock ofthe tools stored there::

well, lets see what we got. a standard set of handtools, wrench, pliers, 2 hammers, screwdriver set, c clamps, socket wrench, soldering iron, parts kit, wood, and steel sheet stock, and rods, and threaded rods, microtools drafting board and t square, paper, pens and pencils, desktop computer, with security keylock, secure filing cabinet ( nothing in it yet, we'll have to fix that soon) yep these are as well stocked as only the brotherhood could make 'em.

I hope you don't mind if i claim this one in the back left corner as mine, do you Fenrir?

this is good enough as a workbench, but you know the nature of my work fenrir, I will require other facilites, a surgery, and secure facilities for containing, and testing experimental subjects, and acces to larger scale fabricating facilities then whaat i can kludge together here with my own two hands. I assume these will be available as they were in our old department

Mhm, I hear you Linak. Things will be all accounted for here shortly.

::Linak wheels in a cart with a computer, monitor, and printer on it, and sets them up on the back left workbench. Linak the proceedes to print out a number of complicated wiring diagrams and schematics from the computers files::

well i can recover some of my old files from my backups at the AGC but i only stored the basics of my design there because i was not going to give them access to my reaserch until i recieved some material help from them, which i never did. so all i have now is the basic armor implantation method which i used as the base for mounting installation and the basic wiring diagram for the optic nerve coupler. even my test subjects escaped when the old lab suffered a spontaneous exsistence failure.

well, at least i still have the mark I prototype installed in myself, and i know how to proceede from here.

::Linak begins to assemble a highly complicated piece of electronic equipment from the wiring diagrams he had printed out earlier, he had to use very fine instruments because the entire device was contained in a surgical steel casing about half the size of a pre-war AAA battey. Linak struggled for hours with the device, and when it was completed he rose from his bench with a triumphant smile on his face.::

well boss, i haven't lost it yet. one optic nerve coupler ready for installation, 'course i'll need some more cameras run off, along with some subdermal mounts, but if i begin production now i think i'll have enough spares to do plenty of experementation, with a few left over, if anybody wants to get one installed, by the end of the week. 'course this is just the basci Ir and nightsight model, it'll take a while before i build back up to the auto targeter, most of my old files were destroyed you know.

well, i got about two dozen of these dohickeys run off boss, time to proceede to the next part.

::linak begins rummaging through the stock of parts, carefully reading stock numbers from the listing and selecting the propper pieces from the vast store kept by the Brotherhood::

surgical steel, surgical steel, carbon steel, titanium steel, tungsten carbide. AH HA surgical steel, here it is now rods, threaded rod, pipeing, beams, shhet stock, oh here it is, sheet stock.

::linak took a large square piece of surgical steel sheet stock, off to the workshop, and after many hours of folding and shaping it, he returned to the lab with something shaped like a very tight helmet and half mask, with mouinting loops.::

one subdermal right eye camera mount. Man the basic design of these hasn't changed since i had the Mk.I installed in myself, y'know, i'm eventually gonna repalce my other eye yah know. and when i do that, i'll have to re-design and replace the headmounts i'm using now. i'monna run up a few dozen of these 'n then it'll be time to go out into the badlands and rustle me up some raider scum to serve as test subjects.

((Continued from Library.))

Quietly, a fair number of copied papers under her arm, the blond soldier slipped into the single-doored research and development lab. She looked around before placing herself at one of the workbenches. She laid a few of her papers out, took a near-dead pen, and began to sketch out a rough technical drawing of what appeared to be a small disk-like object. Slowly details began to appear; small razor-like things around the circumference of the disk, several buttons for only Lai knew what.

It didn't take long for the rough draft to be completed. Having learned the technicals of mechanics from her father Lai set to work gathering the materials she would need to construct her mini-weapon. With any luck, it would be good enough to show to her higher ups.

A pile of supplies and tools set up on one of the benches, Lai sat down at one of the computers. Her fingers flew as she entered specs and data into the machine, the basics she had in her head. Eventually this data was compiled into a nice neat (not so little) table. This was printed, and finally, the soldier could set to the body work ahead at the well-lighted bench table.

Spread out before the Vault born were mostly the outcasts of the materials. Scraps of metal that were thin and flexible, left over wire, whatever didn't look very important. No use wasting materials on a test if that test might not even work. Yes, the original would be constructed of scraps.

Pulling a pair of goggles over her eyes Lai took up a blowtorch, work gloves over her hands. She began heating a larger piece of the crap metal, which was about six inches by seven inches, three-eighths of an inch thick. She heated it and kept reheating it until it was easily bendable, at which time she began bending it into a circle. She over-heated around the parts she wanted to bend up, fold, and shape until the flat base for the small machine was ready. She welded together other small parts of metal until she had a topless box. Taking this box she drilled small holes in it in several places, the wires would go through those holes, connecting the explosives that would eventually be placed in the unfinished piece of weaponry. There was still much to do, she just needed the help of someone who could program things to get the effect she wanted. Probably she'd pull away one of the electrical technicians that weren't so busy in other parts of the Lab.
