So usually I write fantasy novels in my spare time. My first one I got up to 3 chapters and haven't had time to continue for 2 years now, as well as making some edits. I just recently thought of a title with vague ideas for a new story now, I'm thinking of calling it "Do You Wish". Unfortunately all I can think of is an ending for it as well as some life meanings hidden in there to go with the title. I would really like to have time to finish my first writing though but with preparing for college and trying to find a job and ways to pay for college as well as school work, I don't have time for any of it. So I am in a rut. Any suggestions on how I can find some inspiration for the new idea as well as get a chance to finish my other writing?

Well, since its not like I know your schedule or anything, all I can really say it that if you're really serious about writing, you just have be serious about making time.
Maybe you need to wake up earlier or go to sleep later (I cringe at both those ideas). I would set a specific hour every day to write. Force your schedule to work around that, if you can. Perhaps it can just become a regular part of your busy day.

As for inspiration, I love music. I'm sure you listen to it plenty already, but do you really think about your story when listening? When the music hits its high points- like the chorus- it forces my brain to think up a more climatic point to match. I get all sorts of ideas, that may or may not work.
If you have a couple favorite books, you could take ideas from those and combine them. I took a setting from one of my favorite books, and a standard of magic from a favorite show. I know that just sounds like copying, but we always personalize the ideas we get and fit them to our own tastes- changing them in the process.
Also, would you be able to visit an area thats similar to your story's setting? Just being in the sort of place your character would be really makes you think about it more, and your mind automatically starts rolling around ideas.
I hope this helped at all. Inspiration comes differently for everyone. I personally have way too much time on my hands, so I don't know what helps someone with a full schedule.
Good luck getting the time and inspiration you need.

Well music does influence my ideas some, but unfortunately I can only get little clips or short flashes of what I want in my story, and most of the time they never relate. So it is like different scenes just jump out and I don't know where or when to put them.
Some of the areas in my story are hard to find in the crappy state I live in, as well having a vehicle the parents don't need for work to use to get there. I can come up with the first like 5 pages of a chapter, but I feel they are too short and can't figure out what to add. But thank you for your advice.
