As the title explained, I am obviously still learning. I am currently looking for my Goddess. Many people have infulence me to follow in Nyx, the Goddess of Night, but I don't feel as if she's my goddess. She sounds amazing, but it doesn't feel quite right. Can you please, post some names of some Goddess' and a little back info for me? It would really help me on my search. Please add me.

Hi there! It looks like you might benefit from reading the Intro to Wicca sticky. In general, though: the assumption that you must have a god and a goddess is a really flawed one. It's rampant in Neo-Paganism, but it's false. If a god wants you to follow them in service, great - that's not something you need, and there aren't roles of "god" and "goddess" that random deities from particular pantheons can be inserted into. This is related to the misunderstanding that everyone needs a patron.

Toxic Purple Ninja As the title explained, I am a wiccan. 1) Please go read this thread: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=20388693You may find that you don't meet the definition of 'Wiccan' used in this guild. 2) Not everyone has or needs a personal patron deity. It's a very serious relationship to enter into, and you don't get to pick your patron. A patron will choose you. 3) The Goddess of Wicca is a specific deity of the British Isles, whose identity is known only to initiates of legitimate traditions. You can have relationships with other deities outside of Wicca, if you want. But don't try cramming other pantheons into Wicca. It changes things enough that it ceases to be Wicca entirely, and it may offend the deity you're dealing with as well as the Gods of Wicca that you're ignoring/surplanting. 3) It's -your- personal search for your path. How lazy are you that you're asking other people to essentially do your homework for you? There's plenty of resources online concerning the various pagan pantheons out there. JFGI.

I do not mean to be dense on the subject. I am still learning about this, and those online resources is what taught me about those Goddess'. I know I don't have to have a Goddess, but I feel as if ones calling for me. Though, I can't quite understand. I figured, maybe if I knew her identity, it'd be easier. I'm sorry.

It's a common misunderstanding. I'd start out by working out what culture and pantheon she's from and then narrow it down. There's really far too many goddesses for us to be able to help you, unless you already had an idea of who she was.

There's a simple way to find out. Find a quiet space for yourself - light a candle, some incense, have a cup of tea, whatever. Just be relaxed and open. Then - just ask. In very simple language - doesn't have to rhyme or be fancy or anything, or even necessarily outloud. You're basically saying something to the effect of "Hey - whoever's been calling me? I'm so-and-so. Who are you? I'd like to get to know you better but I need some help. Can you give me a sign or a clue?". You'd be surprised what asking directly can get you, really. It's just common sense.

I'm also a little confused on your wicca information. "One can not be wiccan alone", but what if there is no other wiccan around me. Not a single one. No supporters of the religion. Just a bunch of ignorant, closed-minded, fearful folk who think wicca is the same as satanism. I know wicca is the right path for me, but I am alone with myself and my mystery Goddess.

While Wicca does involve the worship of a god and a goddess, they are very specific entities. You're not a Wiccan by virtue of being a ditheist, or even a ditheistic religious witch. Much of the religion is oathbound... and it's experiential, which means participation in and experience of the religion and its rites is what makes you a Wiccan. So, when you mention the quote "you cannot be a Wiccan alone", it means you can't practise the rites of Wicca by yourself, nor can you access Wicca without initiation into a Wiccan coven.

Toxic Purple Ninja What do you mean by practice the rites of Wicca or access Wicca without initiation? I know I sound very noobish, but I am very excited to have finally found some solid information. She means Wicca can't be practiced alone. The rituals of Wicca are meant to be performed by a coven, not by an individual, and thus you can't do them by yourself. Wicca is an initiatory Mystery faith. This means that you don't learn how to practice actual Wicca, until you've become an initiate. The Mysteries of Wicca are something that are transmitted at initiation - sort of like a laying-on of hands, that passes Wicca's "signature" onto you. Initiation is something you can only experience with a coven who knows the proper way to perform the initation ritual. Once you are an initiate, then you can begin to learn what Wicca is and how it's practiced. The sticky on the main forum has all this information in it, and more.
