Salamanders were smaller and unlikely to freak Kimeti out. He had figured this out quite well by himself (and some consumer research on foxbun consumption drew some horror, for now). Definitively catching a salamander without having to be present was an issue for a while. He had to maximise his time, couldn't possibly wait around all day just for one - operational efficiency was necessary. Then he discovered how to do it - if Kimeti had a specific television series idol, one could call it 'MacGyvering' - that involved vines, rib-shaped branches, water, leaves and more leaves and water. He's spent a day uncharacteristically inside the mainland, delicately hoofing it about his materials. So he was done, and today was an important day for development. He paused on the outskirts and scattered them about, splashing water into the leafy crevices suspended by the branch cages. It was time to test - " no watching," he told himself, and eagerly scampered away for the morning to gather fruit. When Rise returned, he found moderate percentages of salamander present, and pondered his trap-making craft as he made his way up the trail. Until he found uncharacteristically large prey stuck in one of his traps, looking tame and pathetic. He couldn't really figure out whether it was a success or a failure.

This was not his lucky day. He struggled and sighed, and struggled some more for good measure - but it was no use, the vines held fast. In the midst of his embarrassing efforts, he suddenly became aware of a rather arresting buck staring quizzically down at him. Oh, the ignominy. "Uh. Hello?" he offered, weakly.

"Hello," he said, amused - it was somewhat mean to be, but it was hard not to be amused about a full-grown Kimeti stuck in a salamander trap. He shifted to get a better look at how he was being held. "What happened?"

"Oh, you know," he replied, dolorous, quite, quite wishing he could just disppear, "the usual. Just minding my own business when I suddenly come across a trap that doesn't look very effective at all and had a look to see how it could be improved - except, as it turns out, it is actually very effective."
After a thoughtful pause, he added, "if you're catching bucks at least. You don't seem the type."

"I don't think the populace would take to eating bucks very well," he noted, "it would've been much better if you were a salamander."
He bent down to n** away at the vines, his sorrow at a good trap deconstructed outweighed by pity. "And you are?" he said through his teeth.

"Sky Fell In," he replied absently, mind already whirring over more important things, "if it's salamanders, these are no good - too big, for one, too many places to escape from - and there must be some way to make the entrance multiply usable..."

"Yes I know you did," he tugged and snapped a branch. "Sky, then?"

"Fell," he paused to correct, then continued, "maybe if you just go by a system with a one-way rig you'd be able to get a few more in there to fill a smaller trap up..."

"I know," he repeated and chuckled, "you don't have to emphasize how inept I am." Half of the trap had collapsed now, tangled around the other buck's hooves.

"What? No!" a caught leg kicked in emphasis, "I just think that you could maximise your operation, that's all - I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it, I'll stop talking about the trap if you want although actually I think I know how you could build a tension-based system to - ah, argh! I mean...what's your name?"

"Rise, Sky," he said patiently, ripping the vines at his ankles.

"Uh...okay. I don't get it anymore." He said - just before the last vine gave and he ended up in a tangled heap on the ground, "Oof! Ah - thanks," he whimpered, hastily detangling and pulling himself back onto his hooves sheepishly.

He stamped the last of the twigs away, and finally looked him in the eye. "The Sun Also Rises. Rise is my name. Just like yours is Sky."

"Oh." A dawning moment - then flooding mortification as the past few minutes finally cleared up into embarrassing sense, "Uh, my name's not Sky - well, it sort of is: I'm Sky Fell in. PleasecallmeFell."

"Ah." He said, pausing, then laughing. "I see! Fell: that's very descriptive, though I hope not all the time. Well then, Fell," he nodded, clearing the remnants, "it'd be great to have someone like you on the team, since you have plenty of - good! - opinions on my methods." Completely neglecting to mention what was it he did or what he was intending to do, he pleasantly extended an invitation.
"So how about it?"
