A Simon/River pairing. Many poeple write it, and i've even saw it roleplayed before. I hear alot of different things from different people. I won't say what I think of it right off the bat because I want your all's input.
Anyone?

Bye Bye Adilic They could never be together. Simon is too busy ******** Kaylee. Duh. talk2hand haha. But seriously, who thinks that up? River and Simon? As a brother/sister relationship, they're great! Otherwise? It's worse than River/Jayne...

Browncoat Li I think I just thew up a little. I'm with you. Some of the non-canon pairings are... odd. I like to stick with the normal "Simon/Kaylee, Mal/Inara, and Zoe/Wash." pairings, with a little Rayne in there. I once saw a Simon/Inara fanfic. I was slightly disturbed.

At least Simon/Inara is within the realm of plausibility. They get along on the show and have a certain level of comfort with each other. They even have scenes alone together where they seem to bond--be it in a platonic way. A lot of the other "unconventional" pairings don't even have that. I don't get it.

I get what you're saying. It's just, I could never see Simon and Inara together. She's too much like his old life, and that's a life he can't go back to.
But some of the more unconventional pairings? *shudder* and I know I'm going to upset some people, but I could NEVER see Jayne and Kaylee together. I don't know why, but they don't seem...

Once again, I'm not into any unconventional pairing, but at least with Kaylee/Jayne, you can point to the canon and say, "Hey, here's some support for my insantiy." It doesn't mean I want to read Kaylee/Jayne fiction, or Simon/Inara fiction. It just means that when I hear someone ship over them, I don't automatically think less of them for it.
River/Simon shippers, on the other hand, need therapy. Eww. Also, ick.
