Now, if she'd only realized that she didn't want to be tied down by kids BEFORE she had some.

Definitely. She's right too - men can do this and no one bats an eyelid but a woman decides to grant her husband custody and suddenly she's Satan? ******** sexism continues to run through society - as much against men who choose to parent full-time as against women who choose to have lives of their own.

I think a lot of women have this idea that motherhood is not an option, and they only find out it's optional when they have three kids already.

For some reason, having a kid was never one of my dreams... I didn't even like those stupid baby dolls people buy you when you're like 5. So it never occurred to me that some people would find me "weird" or "Unnatural" (even though, I am... biggrin )until the first time I realized I was bored stiff with my friends planning their perfect weddings and playing house.

Ew, I never understood weddings myself. So bizarre. I don't understand marriage either. Why do people get married? Other than tax goodness?

My dreams as a kid were always big and exciting, like being a storm-chaser or a palaeontologist. I honestly don't remember whether or not I even thought about having children, but I'd decided by 11 that I didn't want any, I do know that. But then most of my teen years, it was essentially a given, no one gave me grief for it or anything, none of my friends ever talked about having kids or anything like that. So I dunno. It wasn't until the last couple of years that it ever really became an issue. Now people say they're pregnant and my general first response is "Oh, I'm sorry!" and I have to stop and ask first whether this is a good thing, and then say congratulations.

The weird thing is, nearly all my sims end up with children. I like following down the generations, I guess. But one of them was definitely childfree ('doesn't like kids' being an option for personality choices) and another sim told her she was pregnant. The childfree sim was all "..... you want a cookie?" and the pregnant sim got quite upset. Ah, good times.

Thank you for the interesting read it seems like she finally took charge of her life. She didn't abandon her children and what she did was best for them in the long run.

Wow, it is so rare to see someone reclaim their life like that. I guess it is true what they say "You don't know what you have until it is gone".

On a side note, I agree those dolls that girls have these days are creepy as hell. They all remind me of Chucky
