So for those of you who do not know, a massive earthquake tsunamis struck Japan over the past week. This is sad... and not just because I love anime... and asian females ninja . Because massive loss of life is sad. Granted I feel kind of like a hypocrite for saying this.. because when other disasters have struck I have been... well indifferent. However, what is really moving me is what most Americans are saying.
The vast majority of Americans have taken one of two routes. Route number one, divine punishment. These are mostly the fundamentalist christians and psychotic eco terrorists. Claiming that these disasters are punishment... for... well I am not exactly sure what. Other than the fact that the Japanese treat Whales and Dolphins as fish.
The second route is comparing this to Pearl Harbor. First off, most Americans are pretty misinformed... well that or they choose to forget about us dropping the atomic bomb on Japan. Killing thousands and contaminating the area. Then there is the lesser known fact of the firebombing. During world war 2. We americans.. well basically committed a war crime and fire bombed japan. Basically this is where you take a tube of oil light it on fire and drop it on someone, splashing fire everywhere. We destroyed entire cities and slowly and painfully killed thousands. Yet people say "Pearl Harbor"? At least the japanese attacked a military base.
