Leibee Gonja Land Update - April 4th, 2011

Greetings from Tulewe,

It's a cloudy Tuesday morning and we're praying daily for rain. Until yesterday, the entire village had been drinking dam water, the color of tea or weak chocolate milk. We have a gravity filter; but the sludge was so thick, we were having trouble filtering drinking water for our household of six. God answered prayer and allow us to arrange a bore-hole repair-man and now we have not one, but both pumps repaired and pumping clear drinking water. Thank you, Lord!

Sowing the seed. That's what my days are full of. About 5 weeks ago, I made the first visit back to Kafaba, which was our language learning village. In one house, I met a man of peace and his younger brother and wife, a total of 3 people. They were interested in the message from God's word. Some of you may remember, this is the same friend who's hand was nearly severed during a tussle with some Fulani cowboys about 4 years ago. One way, it's a 3 hour journey to Kafaba, including a 45 minute boat ride. I was willing to keep going back for only the 3, but our prayers was that more could hear the message. I encouraged my host that he should share the message.

When I returned the next trip, he gathered 40 people together and moved the meeting into a more central location so that more could attend. Two weeks ago, in the same village of Kafaba, I taught on how God made garments of skin for Adam and Eve, sparing them from immediate death and killing an animal in their stead.

At the end of the Bible story, I greeted individuals in the group, including an older lady who had listened closely. She asked me to bend down closer and said: "If when I was young, I stole something -- but I didn't know it was stealing. It is only now I know it was stealing -- in that case, will God judge me for the stealing? Or if I beg Him, will I get saved?"

We rejoiced that the Holy Spirit is convicting men of sin into action. We rejoice, many of you prayed for Kafaba and God put those prayers in a bottle and is pouring them out.

Praise God:

• for the open reception in Kafaba and Yala where I regularly teach.
• for God's healing after a painful kidney stone. I know many of you prayed and the attack totally went away in a matter of hours.
• for a healthy pregnancy of Rebecca.. God has been so good!

Current Prayer Requests, April 2011 -- Pray, we are in a battle!
• for wisdom and an open door for group Bible teaching in Tulewe. I'm teaching some individuals, but there are a couple for requests for more. We need direction how to start.
• For health. God healed the kidney stone, but Malaria and cold/flu slowing us down.
• For God's movement for the bridge that went down, last year. Rains are coming and nothing has been done. I visited numerous offices, still to no avail. Pray that God would use the bridge situation as a showcase for the love of God's people to Gonja.
• Continued teaching in Yula and Kafaba, for understanding and for leaders to emerge.
• In Kafaba, pray for some of the Imam's clan to open their hearts to the Bible teaching.
Love to you all, Tanner and Rebecca Leibee.
